    I purchased the EvoStar 80ED right before Christmas, and it is a wonderful refractor for the price. Both for visual and astrophotography.

    nice work with showing 80ED , and its much better focuser having nothing to do with 120 and 150 , and that is why i dont believe you that there is ED glass in there . For if it was why change to focuser .

    If your Evostar 72ed is older than Sept 2019, don't buy that flattener/reducer for the 80ED. You can't focus with it. The inward focus can't be reached. I done went there and it wouldn't go in far enough to reach focus. They changed the scope in September 2019 and then the 80 reducer will work.

    Ive looked locally for Evostar 150ED , but in their description it says its Achromat , are you using F8 focal length that doesn't bend light that much and basically looks like better then 80ED that is true ED but its F6, can you also confirm its resolution , they say its 0,8", it also says its rack and pinion focuser , unlike 80ED that is crayford . If its an ED , why rack and pinion focuser .

      There are two versions of Evostar in the world. There is the Evostar and Evostar ED series. If you want the ED glass you need the ED models which are 72 f/5.8, 80 f/7.5, 100 f/9, 120 f/7.5 and 150 f/8. Here in North America we only sell the ED models. None of them show false color unless on extremely high powers.
      The achro versions sold over seas will show color but the price is a give away. The achro models use 2" R&P focusers where all the ED versions use dual speed crayfords.

    Thanks. i just got the 120/1000 skywatcher
    Could you tell me if the telescope suffers a lot of damage if I want to observe from the seashore? I say this because of the salinity that can affect the lenses. Is there a trick to protect it and be able to go anyway?

    Minor correction to your slide on Optec motorized focuser for the evo 80d. The motor is DirectSync SW25 motor, not swx25. At least I could not find a swx25 when I searched.

      Its buried in the Optec website, if you reach out to them they have them.

      @@SkyWatcherUSA ok. I did try a search and nothing except the sw25 turned up and it stated it was compatible with evo80d. I will try direct contact and see what they give me. Thanks

    Hi Kevin, I've got a question about the ed80 and the ed glass. Does it have fpl53? I' ve got a a friend that says it doesn't. Thanks mate😉

    • @SkyWatcherUSA
      @SkyWatcherUSA  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Evostar 80, 100 and 120ED still use FPL-53, nothing has changed on them. But newer glasses are coming to the market which offer larger sizes and improved capabilities. FPL-55, FCD-100 and others provide the same level of correction, or very close to that of FPL-53, so I wouldn't be surprised if you see companies moving to newer glasses in the future.
      FPL-53 can only be produced is sizes up to about 7" which is limiting scopes to about 160mm in aperture. If you want to make larger apos. you need a different glass.

    Can you please explain the difference between EvoStar 120ED and Evolux 120ED?

    • @SkyWatcherUSA
      @SkyWatcherUSA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We do not have an Evolux 120ED.
