      That is merely an old, over-used adage that doesn't really mean anything! It MAY in the mind of whoever says it, but not really, to everyone, because there is ALWAYS more than one "way about it" even more than two!

    I saw on TV tiger woods career and one thing that he did best was hit his irons. He had unbelievable control of his irons. Hitting the ball within 10 foot all the time.

    Steve Williams is probably top 25 in career earnings among professional golfers from his caddy earnings from Tiger (and then Adam Scott).

    I know a lot of golfers want to win but there's even more who are playing for the pay check they finishing in the top 50 every weekend and that's why all the players love Tiger, because he has made golf so popular and has helped bring so much money to the sport that if you make the cut and finish half way up the board you're leaving with 60-70k.

      Tiger was bred to be a winning machine essentially as soon as he could walk. So for him it was always focused on winning more than it was about money and money was more a by product of his insatiable desire to win. The stories of how his dad bred him to become what he did are insane. Doing things like knocking over a bag or other things and doing whatever he could to get in Tigers head to give him the ruthless mind that led to his insane dominance through the years.
      But it’s also not fully fair to talk about players who care about getting a check when discussing somebody like Tiger. As for Tiger he was making so much off the course from before he even debuted as a pro that he didn’t have to care about the prize money because he didn’t need it. Other guys who aren’t raking cash like him may not be able to only care about winning because they actually need the paycheck from the tournament. Tiger has won more in PGA earnings than anybody with $157M. But that’s pennies compared to everything else. Forbes estimates he’s earned over $1.7B in his career. It’s less than 10% of everything so that certainly lets a guy focus entirely on winning above all else. But of course I must acknowledge again that he was bred to be a machine but one always has to factor that when you have immense earnings outside of the tournaments it provides an environment to be that machine.

      I believe he is implying the 14-1 record when LEADING OR CO-LEADING AFTER 54 HOLES, not the other majors Steve caddied for Tiger.

    I do not get the feeling he appreciates how lucky he was to have been apart of Tigers career.

    • @Matt-cr4vv
      @Matt-cr4vv ปีที่แล้ว

      I think he mostly dislikes that people largely discount any role he may have played in contributing to the success Tiger had. Obviously he had the greatest success with Tiger and benefitted from being on the bag for the best to ever play. But at the same time people have largely erased all the other aspects of Steve’s career outside of tiger to essentially brush him off as not being a great caddie but just riding tigers coattails. But Steve was a well respected caddie recognized for being a great caddie before he ever was on tigers bag. He had an extended period of time caddying for really good pros like Greg Norman and Raymond Floyd. After Tiger he had some success with Adam Scott as well. He has spoken about how great tiger is many times but it’s natural it would be annoying to have all your talent or success in your role completely ignored or dismissed as being solely Tiger. And that’s fair because Steve was recommended by so many to Tiger in the first place because his intense effort about winning was what Tiger needed.

    • @Matt-cr4vv
      @Matt-cr4vv ปีที่แล้ว

      People generally discount his talent and value as a Caddie by saying Tiger made him but largely ignore the fact that being kept around on the bag for so long for such a demanding golfer who expects so much like Tiger is a reflection of just how good he actually is. To last through that you have to always be top level in your role, maintain the demanding commitment required for the job, and be able to maintain good chemistry in that intense environment requires a lot of talent in every facet of the role. And so people never recognizing that is a shame and easily will lead to frustration as someone who doesn’thave their contribution recognized by so many. People seem to think working for Tiger was a cake walk rather than an incredible grind

    He WAS a great golfer until he got into drugs! Alcohol and drugs nearly ruined him, but lucky for him, he did get out of that trap and has begun to come back to his old playing skills. Will he relapse like so many do? Only time will tell. (But lying, cheating, drinking and carousing are not exactly positive actions from a public figure, and most people don't condone that.) No one is perfect, but when you are respected and in the public eye, you MUST behave differently at all costs! There is no room for doing what he did and not expect recriminations from the pubic, BUT, the public also has a short memory, usually they tend to forgive and forget their idols' bad behaviors. So, we'll see.
