That's Insane! Wow!!! seeing all this as a clip is really gives goose bumps... Grateful and much appreciated for this time travelling! Is extremely well put together. Many thanks for walking us through history.
Always had a special curiosity for great and beautiful buildings... is for sure history is the most important part of each detail carved in stones. Preferences of important people played a big role in having today's world.
ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING, with so much loving attention to detail ! I´ve been fascinated by the history of Buckingham Palace ever since I first saw the CG versions of the palace in the "Victoria" tv series being gradually developed - but this really goes back in history ! Thanks so much for this gem !
@@JamesFoxTimeTravelArtist I went back and subscribed. Do you have anything on Germany before and after World War II, also Italy? My father is gone and he fought there and a few other places in Europe. Thank you again, great work
The amount of work put in to this video, is extraordinary. I love it! The animation is great, all that information is packed in. I really like this video!
Was always trying to figure the exact location of Marble Arch and why it was not incorporated into the new wing across the front of palace. Finally this timelapse explains my question clearly, Thank You
The present Mall facade designed by Aston Webb is actually a shell concealing the victorian red brick. I believe it is in Portland Stone which is relatively porous and I wonder if damp, trapped between the old and the new facade is in the course of time causing hidden damage.
This is just fascinating. I have know that the palace had gone through architecture changes. You can see earlier changes at the back of the palace. I loved seeing all of the changes.
É incrível a quantidade de vezes que esse palácio foi remodelado. Isso demostra que de fato as "tradições" são construções sucessivas. Não existe nada que seja "agora e para sempre"!
I love how it is now but Woody.EXE’s palace is much bigger than Buckingham palace. My entire family stayed overnight there once before VE Day and I loved every minute of it. I always go there if I’m feeling very down and sometimes stay overnight if I have too.
Like most buildings in central London Buckingham Palace had its exterior walls cleaned, removing the grime of the Industrial Revolution, between the eighties and the nineties, as has been done to many public buildings and statues in the UK.
1837 too!! Much better than today. 1837 looks Grand, majestic and beautiful. Imposing. It shows the power and the even fear the money could strike. Maybe I don't know. Something about that architecture. Imagine if you were a peasant in London walking past that building. What would you think about what was going on in there? I can imagine the disparity of life. The grime. The filth. The horror. And then you look up and you see that building. You see the beauty of the architecture. You see the inspiration from the Greek world.
I loved 1872 one because Woody.EXE’s palace looks very close but it’s made of red I’ve from his actual powers. I have visited many times but now that I’m Woody.EXE’s Queen; I’m thinking of moving there permanently next year
Woody.EXE’s palace is much bigger than Buckingham palace and I have been allowed there on a few occasions but since I’m his Queen; I’m allowed there all the time
Amazing work you've done here! Can't wait to see more! The palace was quite lovely as a *small* hunting lodge and still pleasing to see until George George IV! But after that it just became ridiculous stone/cement pile and still is!! Now, in it's modern form it's just a ridiculously huge ugly monstrosity! Italian and French palaces are so much more pleasing to look at, with such lovely exteriors, gardens and water features all around!
Ironically Buckingham palace looked a lot like Independence Hall in the 1700s and early 1800s. Only difference is there are clock towers on the side instead of one big clock tower on the main building.
Great video, just one thing. It was Buckham House then and was called the Queen's House; Queen Charlotte stayed there most of the time as King George had stayed in Kew for quite some time after marrying in (1820 or prior)
@@pedanticradiator1491 yes but it was built for her and it is called the Queen House not the King's house after all back in the day. also my mistake with the date shown
I wish they would move the main part of the Victoria Memorial to Green Park and leave the side fountains in place because the huge main statue just spoils the view of Buckingham Palace and ruins the Royal balcony appearances for everybody stuck behind it. It also forces any ceremonial parades to take an awkward route around it. Moving it to Green Park would allow a direct route to the Palace and an unhindered view all the way down the Mall.
Yea, I prefer Woody.EXE’s palace more and Woody.EXE recently unveiled statues of Prince Philip and the late Queen Elizabeth II at my personal request, he already wanted memorials dedicated to them anyway. I love visiting Woody.EXE every day and his palace still does that appear ing into view when my family go near it and it appears in view for the crowds during key events. Woody.EXE is the best monarch since Queen Elizabeth II
This was really interesting to see. Is there a Duke of Buckingham today? In my opinion the old facade before 1913 was better than the new one. What i always have wondered, is why the huge queen Victoria monument was build directly in front of the palace. I know how respected queen Victoria was and is, but still. Now when you look at the palace from the other end of the street, you see the monument, not the palace.
The last Duke of Buckingham died in the 19th century and he came from a different family to the one that built the original Buckingham House as it was after the death of the last Duke of that family in the 18th century that the house and grounds came back into the possession of the Crown Estate
I love Woody.EXE’s palace because it’s much bigger and he allowed my whole family to stay overnight before VE Day celebrations. That was the best night of my life and I won’t forget it
@@litamtondy Buckingham House was purchased by George III as a small family home, a private place. Versailles is a weird special case, as it was to a degree a gilded cage to keep the formerly unruly french nobility on a short leash. This is amazing. That must have taken you ages to make such animation. Well done.
Buckingham Palace was originally a House. Not a Palace. Built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703.

@HouseWinchester1874 There is no 'previous facade'. There is the previous _building,_ still there.
Fascinating, and well executed. I've always been interested in the evolution of the house/palace, but this is a great way to fully appreciate it.
Excellent. Because we know it as it is today, it is still recognisable from the early days with its two wings and central core.
