A few have asked and made me realise I forgot to mention the dimensions.
The chassis is 53.5cm wide and approx 120cm long 👍

    • @beyondtheapexracing

Do you need a seat slider to go front to back or is it pointless to have that part? Did you put one on yours?

    • @davecamm
      @davecamm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yes I already had my seat slider on, but there is probably enough adjustability without one 👍

I use VR so dont need / own the screen stand, but the rig is brilliant! I have DD1 wheel and the welds cracked on my metal rig so upgrade was required… the RSR-21 was affordable and I got a seat from a Mazda RX8 local for £50 complete with its slider mechanism; and it is ace - absolutely solid. I have a buttkicker 2 fixed to the seat (bit tricky) and it is easy adjustable when the grandchildren want a go.
6 Months ago I bought a 2nd RSR-21 for flight sim rig . . . And it’s eco-friendly, and imho looks neat, the quality of the wood and machining is the best I’ve seen anywhere, I’m QA in the construction industry

I was so intrigued by this rig when I have seen your shots of the rig on your channel. After finally watching you build, then race on it, I am impressed. From the side, I saw no movement in my opinion. Even watching the closeup shot you are doing so we can watch and see if there is movement you want to say there is, but it's the car on the screen that's making the movement and kinda throws you off, lol. But otherwise, I saw nothing move on the rig itself. Impressed. I know it's probably a high-end wood, but this thing is quite pricey. So, no for me. But wish I could. Dave your content is getting to be better and better. I hope you start getting more subscribers and people following you. You deserve it, your demeanor and way of doing videos are top-notch. Keep up the great content my friend. LOVE your work.

A couple of thought's on this video: Cheeky intro Dave, i like it. In regards the product, i am somewhat blown away with your findings. I didn't think it could be as solid as you found and the finish quality looks outstanding. I wish i'd seen this 4-5 months ago. I think i'd need one ready assembled though a smy mental state might not do well constructing it. That said, it looks like a normal person could do it easily due to the ease and precision of the joints. Lastly, hopefully Mrs. Cam doesn't see the big scratch on the floor. Fingers crossed! :)

@@davecamm Thanks for reply, Dave. I see x and z axis rotation, but as per the pictures I'm missing y axis (pitch/tilt).

This is fantastic. I would rather have this over an aluminum chassis.

Wow I seriously want one of these now. At my height of 6'7" I do worry about the height adjustability of the wheel deck though. I am currently using a custom made wood rig made from 2x4s, 1x4s and some MDF with a PT cruiser seat from a junkyard 😂. Seeing this rig has given me some ideas for improvement to my current setup, and it's surprising how similar the basic structure is to my custom setup

I ordered one of these specifically for seat deck adjustability. Adjusting anything on my profile rig is a challenge, but especially the seat deck, which is fixed flat. Sadly, I don't have the space for triples, but a 34" curved monitor does nicely.

Did I see a woodworm?😃 Nice rig, I prefer aluminium but this is also nice and seems easier to adjust.

Clicked the link thinking it would be astronomical but it's not actually that bad. Fairly reasonable actually when you compare it to the ridiulous money sim stuff goes for these days. £360 for the chassis and the extras aren't a fortune. Good idea with the plywood, people dismiss it but it's actually engineered wood. When you think a skateboard deck is thinner and carries your entire weight without really flexing, this (18mm thick?) looks super sturdy. I have a wooden rig but it's just something I knocked up with spare timber. Does the job though and is plenty stable without any vibrations. You did a good job of showing what you get with it. I'm sure you've done that Mark guy from RSR proud with this review.

It’s great you can stain, poly or paint any color you want.

Brilliant looking design. I love how the side arms articulate. May consider this as I have a sim rig in planning, currently I am mounting it to my desk which is also office for work, requires me to unmount my wheel every morning. The desk is also a former dinner table .. it's far from "Rock Solid", unlike how this rig looks.

I'm sceptical about this staying rigid in the long term, but it is beautifully made and very attractively priced. Personally, I'd now be thinking about painting it. A couple of contrasting colours would be awesome... like those in the DC logo.
The thing is, ally profile is still infinitely more flexible, with lengths cut to order and a million fixings, hinges, linear bearings etc. Plus, try integrating a motion platform and a set of buttkickers with this.
On the upside, watching Dave build stuff makes me miss Auf Wiedersehen Pet ;-)
P.S. Plywood has always been layered up like this for strength, since before carbon fibre had even been dreamed of.
