Oh, MY!!! What an INTERESTING start to the day at Zero Dark Thirty...
...and YES, with regard to the stream crossing, I give a HUGE thumbs up to @Outdoormission @SCVB1 and @LeonardOutdoorsNM . The National Park Service website on safe river crossings has lots of great info and it starts with 'don't fasten your waist or sternum belts'...
All of that aside, what Beautiful Views and what an amazing experience (once again) watching you two and your tramily bushwhack over another Sierra summit. I have to thank you with all my heart for the views you've given me today and over the last few days since my knees will never allow me to make it to any of those places you showed me. Happy Trails!!!

Just like when you're with your friends at Denny's, then tell the waitress it's someones birthday to get a song, ice cream and see the embarrassment on their face. You gotta go with it, whether it's your birthday or not. So.... HAPPY🎶 BIRTHDAY 🎶RACH!!! 🎶 🍰🎈🥳

This is pretty much the only pct24 thru hike vlog I’m watching. I like that when you stop and admire the beauty, I believe you when you express your awe; it’s not forced.
In the early 2000’s, a buddy going back to 9th grade and I backpacked the Ansel Adams Wilderness for 3 nights, 4 days; then, the next year, the eastern Sierra for a couple days. Did a car camping trip to North Fork Feather River -- all to go fly fishing in the Sierra. My buddy is religious about fly fishing. We always went late September/early October and would be the only two people fishing at a rock bowl or a river. I, like you, would just take a look around and up at the sky and marvel at the beauty. I also swam in those rock-bowl lakes, all by myself. No one around for miles.

Great job today! You are in my backyard and it is always fun to watch people view the Sierra for the first time. As for fishing the alpine lakes in the Sierra, I have fun with a Tenkara rod and barbless hooks. I just catch and release, but I find it fun. Take care and safe travels!

Yoj guys are hard core! The southern approach to Mather is no joke in May. Wow that water crossing is formidable. You just take it in stride haha. Happy Birthday Rach! You are seeing the Sierra at a special time. Hope you can see her in summer splendor too some day. We call it the Golden scarecase. Check out Norman Clyde and Randy Morgenson when you are done. The “first flowers” are shooting stars. that big tree was an old growth Ponderosa pine. Dan you are so appreciated for “not upsetting the environment “. Take care you two!

Another incredible edition of the Sierra trek! I’m old so living vicariously through your videos. I think you will be much too early for the incredible flowers from Carson pass to Showers lake which usually appear mid July.
I’ll be interested to see it early in the season.

Glissade🤷‍♂️. Wasn’t enough snow for my 2016 transit. Still spent a lot of energy rock hopping around what snow there was 😬
U have serious enthusiasm transiting in May. What River ford was that? Snow free Golden Staircase 👏

Did you say hi to the solo jmt hikers?
Your video does a great job showing Mather's western alpine course - the dry trail route comes from the east like Forester.

So funny, when walking the switchbacks in the snow, looking from above as you were the tralil was invisible and everyone looked like a bunch of drunk monkeys😂

Imagine what the Kings looked like later that afternoon
Probably impassable; you'd need to ford at the further upstream off trail crossing

Dan, there are hundreds of alpine lakes located in those high reaches in each of your pan shots.
However, they're accessible only via off trail cross country hiking. (Except for the passes, the JMT/PCT runs along the valley floors.)
Some have beautiful golden trout; I'm not saying. You could join the ranks of generations before you exploring the whole range.

Weird how many people get off on fishing on trail. Yet I've never heard of anyone bringing a bow to hunt. Now tell me why you think those are different, if they do hit you differently.
