For the first time I really understand how tonal variations are affected by the light source and chroma is associated with intensity and the shadows dulled down. You are an excellent teacher in explaining the process of your value interprertations. The likeness is a lovely capture of the sitters attitude. Your tecnique is a valuable assistance to creating a good likeness. Thank You/ Rosie Hoy New Zealand
Wonderful explanation of the process. I only wish, really wish, that the camera angle had been to wards the portrait itself instead of the artist. But, thank you! The work is gorgeous !
Love the videos with guests! Would you mind answering a question? I think it was on a story or somewhere like that, where you spoke of having Eudald de Juana as your guest. Will those videos b on patreon or on youtube? When can we await them. Really looking forward to them !
This cat Zorn seems to be more famous for his palette than for his paintings. Why is that? Why don't we hear about the Sargent palette as much, or the Monet palette? Not a criticism, just a question.
He isn't but the reason it's so special is because it's more limited than what Sargent or Monet used. There are articles about it and they're nice to read if you're curious. The process of creating art and what you have to think about when working with limited materials is very interesting. It's challenging and pretty fun.
Can we just appreciate the fact that the “photo” reference is actually a real Person LIVE
When "the photo" blinked I thought I see things😂
how do you think people painted before ?
Yes! But working with photo reference and live study is whole different thing.
@@Abramikmak8321for real is even better than the photo
He has such a soothing voice
this guy is awesome! I appreciate how he describes his mental process.
Loved the demo, particularly that it was done using a live model. Great job!
I appreciate his conversational explanation style.
Thank you so much Patrick and Stephen. I like that you emphasized hue, value, and chroma. Both of your styles work very well together.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Patrick and SB for this great video
Each time I watch I'm just amazed I want more of his work so badly or maybe you and him having a one on one.
I thought it was a photograph. My soul left my body when he blinked, lol.
Utterly amazing portrait.

how do you clean your wooden palettes when you finish a painting?
I want to know about the pictures in the background, the black and white. My eyes keep looking back there.
