Damn you people are trying so hard to convince a bunch of people to stop playing games? I may hate people as a whole but I stand by gamers on this one. Gaming isn't about mindlessly spending hours playing said video games but it's the idea that it's a way to alleviate the mental burden life has on us when most of us don't have the time nor money to spend thousands on therapy and meds. Atleast here in the US, video games has saved many lives because without them, some kids may have had to grow up slinging dope on the streets to barely get by because of life circumstances but it's easy for privileged people to stand there and say "video games are bad" and "Cellphones" are bad when alot of us have gone through the shits and ringers just to make it out of our childhood. Some of us arent to be blamed for our childhoods and we are victims of circumstance because adults failed us out of their incessant desires to keep and hoard all their wealth while we had to grow up figuring stuff out on our own. Go ahead and tell the arabic kids in Wartorn nations that they need to stop playing video games and life is easy for them so they can stop their whining. Alot of people play games to get their mind off of the real world issues because not many things we can do to change the minds of rich politicians with so much power. Voting is a momentary thing and what good does voting and helping others when we can barely afford to eat? Everyday I wonder when people would stop targeting the small things that are problems of society and address the bigger fish in the water i.e. the mental health crisis in the world, wars, famines, diseases, rich corruption, gangs, terrorists and cartels... need I say more?? There are worse problems to address and I'm not gonna sacrifice my own sanity and life being the only person who wants to help and contribute towards a future where all of our kids can live in peace and prosperity instead of drama, conflict, greed and corruption...

The problem isn't gaming it's just addiction in general same thing to any drug or even a hobby you have. People become obsessive. The reason these self improvement channels say these things isn't because they think video games are bad it's because they know their audience has addiction problems.

A thing that pisses me off is the saying "they're not you". Okay if they're not me, then how the fuck can i get to where they're at? That counts for everything in life. I'm not a gamer, and i don't aspire to make millions from gaming, though it would be cool. Saying "they're not you" to someone with huge dreams is a big fuck you to them. Don't tell them that. Instead offer them advice on how to make it instead. I've heard that thing thousands of times from people in my personal life, that told me "you're not them" when i was pissed off out of my mind about not being able to do the cool things that they did. There must be a way for me to join them. I refuse to believe that settling and accepting that you'll never get to where they're at is final. Why should people accept they'll never excell in their fields? It makes no sense to me. My brother is ADDICTED to gaming. He does nothing but it. Whenever I tell him to occupy himself with something else he lashes out at me and says "You like KPOP, and listen to music! You do ....". He doesn't understand the concept of hobbies. He is letting gaming consume himself. His grades might be good now, so I don't have a bashful argument with my parents but it will affect him in the future. He also says people make millions of gaming. He also lashes out and becomes really aggressive when he is told to turn it off or do chores. I know that your own enjoyment and hobby time should be there but still, he isn't giving anything else his time. He either plays games or watches shorts. He becomes VERY defensive if anyone touches his phone as if he is hiding something. I have a phone too and I have a password and my privacy is there, but I never get scared when somebody picks it up. He acts as if he is scared someone might see something. Like can somebody help me out? He also IDK starts vibrating (Like physically gets very shaky) while playing and starts cursing and sometimes even cries when he plays. AND if we ever by chance tell him to do something he starts yelling at us. My parents keep putting up with his behaviors saying he is a child they don't like it but still. I know very well I wouldn't pass a minute giving that behaviors to my parents. Recently he has started getting violent too not in like a scary way but even when he isn't playing, my dad has the tendency to kinda "annoy" us while we watch our phone when we are having dinner together, I normally just talk with them but my brother watches his phone, and my dad would slightly poke him softly on his arms and cheek to get his attention, and he would hit my father with the back of his hand and it is that fast but still, I find it disrespectful. And he would continue to do it even after our mom tells him to stop, until I yell at him.
I'm ngl, your brother is an exception and clearly in need of some psychiatrist sessions. Which your parents are not realizing. I'm sorry you have to act like a third parent.

I personally feel if you accept that when your playing video games and you know this is not bettering yourself at all then go ahead

During the Covid Lockdown, i saw people travelling the world, while i sat at home broke, unable to afford anything. I remember venting out my frustrations to friends and family, and i got the exact same response. Give me advice on how to get ahead instead.

People really out here saying "hustle culture perfect, hobbies bad", huh. What a crazy world we live in.
