    To be frank, after serving NS in the police, the baton training and stuff we learn in dojo are just not effective outside.

    You must Salute the Officers from SAPU( Special Actions Prisons Unit),during the 70's through up to SPEAR.Those days, many prison escapes,riots,etc.with minimal weapons at their disposal, they carried out their Tasks,second to None! There were many prisons,drug center's and day release camps throughout the Country.SAPU maintain order when they are called to action.SAPU,was also intoduce in a book called" Salute to Singapore"..for Spear, good luck and for SAPU,your memory and gratitude will always linger on in Singapore! Thankyou SAPU OFFICERS!

    At the end of the day, drills are just drills. Speed and strength will win. If your reaction slower than opponent you can't perform the drill to pin him down

    When there is minimal striking that they can do and only more on self defense, they can expect to get whacked

      Kikikiki... This prison officers should train indepth rather then a short course. At least 3 months daily classroom training. If one day or 3 days course, when go back to operations, all forgotten...

    That's the same as any taught martial art/self defence practice.
    90% of the time close combat is engaged, all parties involved would enter a fight or flight response to the danger, and drop their training methods for more brutal and improvised attacks.
    I understand that fighting is also a sport, but in the sport there are always rules, which means it needs to be a more controlled fight. In that case, the training is effective.
    Otherwise, it's just going to turn into fists and batons swinging.
    If you REALLY want to be more effective in combat, train your body and grow strong.

    someone teach me how to use the baton... why is there a protruding grip at the center of the baton? Shouldnt u hold the baton at the edge to have the most leverage and deliver the strongest blow possible? Can someone with experience regarding this kindly educate me thanks

    • @SpecJack15
      @SpecJack15 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That style of grip is so that the user can swing the baton by swirling it from the side instead of having to swing the whole arm which is inefficient. It uses less energy and time to swing this T-baton as compared to a straight-stick baton. T-baton also enables the user to block incoming strikes by lifting his arm with the T-baton because the baton body is positioned along the arm. So it is very versatile.
