So, would the state of Awakening eventually be permanent for some individuals…and that in terms of Theravada Buddhism …be the end of the path ….Nirvana …Enlightenment the end of the Four Paths? There is nothing more left to do..,and there would be no more rebirths?
In the Theravada map of Awakening, both the third stage "no returner" and the fourth stage "Arahant" would not be reborn in the human realm again. In the Zen map of awakening, the Bodhisattva commits to rebirth until all sentient beings are fully awake. Stephen thank you for these talks, they’re really clear and straightforward. It’s also wonderful to hear someone speak about both the zen and the Theravada ways of envisioning the path. I’ve only ever listened to (and practised with) teachers from one or other school of Buddhism and yet have been drawn to study both myself. I would love to attend one of your retreats but I’m based in the UK and not easily able to travel to the USA. Do you have any plans to teach here in the future? 🙏☀️
@@tonyrobin3124 Hopefully we can assemble enough student interest for a retreat in the near future. You are always welcome to join any US retreat. Also, I work with students in the UK via Zoom daylongs and 1x1s.
