- An athlete from a specific part of Ethiopia hesitantly joins her school's athletics team after being threatened to be expelled. What followed was not only a glimmer of immense talent, but quite possibly the greatest prodigy seen in women's distance running within the last few decades.

She is clearly a super humble person (being there for Hassan after she fell is super kind). An athlete that is ALWAYS going to be easy to root for
That’s in our culture. A collective culture where people care about their community than individual accolade
Nice... A necessary counterpoint to this mornings news. 😢

Running economy + discipline + humility = Letesenbet Gidey. Congratulations from Chile!
I have always admired her performances on the track, but add her mental trials, it explains her absolute 1,000% output in each race. She is competing against some of the all time legends, otherwise she would be standing on top of the podium each and every race.
May Letesenbet continue to shine and bring glory to herself and her family. 🎉🎉🎉
All that stuff back at home she had to deal with while training mustve been a wild mental ride. Props to her for getting through that.
So glad I stayed on the video after you stopped talking about her races, her mental challenges surrounding her situation at home are something that I didn't know about. It's incredible all she was able to do considering that!
Amen to that! Incredible! Great touch by the videographer too.
Lety: case of great heights in exemplary humility !❤!
She's one of my favorites. That hairdo at the end is WOW!
The queen of running. Pleasure to watch her glide on any course.
She is versitale but unfortunately i think Hassan is the biggest monster that will destroy marathon space.
I would like Gidey to win more but i am fine with Hassan because she is good too
Henry Rono held four track world records all set in an 81 day period in 1978. 3,000, 3,000sc, 5,000 and 10,000 meters. No telling what he may have done with a competitor able to push him.
Absolutely correct yet alcohol was his downfall! He ran at Washington State and I still consider him one of the all-time greats!
Keep on the trail of success.
Awesome vid👍👏
What a beautiful young woman!
what a great piece!
Top notch documentary. I didn't know I would watch till end. You compiled all so well.
Excellent documentary
This lady is my running hero. Her commanding form is mesmerizing.
Great, gripping video. You have a great talent. God bless you!
There are many aspects to her running that makes her really unique but she an excellent stride, power takeoff and very economical runner (very efficient) There are many runners (female) who can do as well as her, but she has been brought up (coached) properly. I believe that her best event is the 10.000 meters but eventually the marathon. She has the potential to bring it up to another level (she already did in the half) in the marathon around 2:11. I know I will be called stupid but believe me is coming soon!
Well wriiten. My feeling she could be the first sub 29 at 10k on the track and sub 2:10 at the marathon. Her half marathon and 15k records are just another level. She runs so economically and so elegantly...
Very enjoyable. She's the stylish runner competing at the monent.
miss your rhythm game content, love you bro
It was sad to see Tirop. May she rest in peace 🕊️ let's all play our part in helping victims of domestic violence before it's too late
Some suggestions :
-reporting instances
-Donating to women's shelters in cash, food, clothes, sanitary stuff
-educating women and empowering them
Quick fact: Tigray (pronounced as Tigrai) is a mountainous region located in the highlands of Ethiopia (high altitude) and people from the rural parts of Tigray grow up walking up and down mountains since there is limited access to transportation. This translates to most of Tigrayans from the rural part being naturally physically fit (endurance for long distances)

Love your videos ❤
Ingrid Kristiansen held world records at 5,000 meters, 10K, 15K, marathon and half-marathon at the same time.
@ready280 The half-marathon course Kristiansen ran on was mis-measured so her time is not recognized as a WR.
This video has summoning salt vibes! (Thats a big compliment)
do you jam carly rae jensen while running?
Its hard to be so good across all distances and still have a change of pace for the shorter track distances to cover moves.
❤!!
Shawty is fineee
People don’t talk about her beauty enough, but that’s because she is so talented! She has supermodel looks!
I would love to be able to push myself as much as she can.
just trying something new can be really fun and with time it only gets better, but everyones different idk
♥️🌹🥰🙏🏽👍🏼
17:42 *hundredths of a second lol
lots older than the posting date.
You mean she is older than stated? - if so I know for a fact you are right….
I’ve always been attracted to her elegant beauty. And felt her exotic mystique was a strong allure. There was something Royal about her countenance.
Exotic 🙄
Jesse Owens broke or tied 4 WR at a single meet
Its not the same
That one of Owen's records was a TIE ruins your fantasy. None of Gidey's are ties.
Whilst she is an amazing athlete, she is kind of unfortunate, because what seems to be her ideal distance is between 10k and the marathon. Obviously athletes can train differently for different events, but somewhere between the championship distances seems to be the place where she would be most able to excel. That said, this could change over time as distance athletes generally move up in dustance with age. It would be nice to see how far she can move on the 15k and half marathon records, but training specifically for those distances doesn't make any career sense. Now that things have moved on in the women's marathon, there is a lot for her to do to remain near the very top of that event, but she still has many years ahead of her and she can run 10k's for a while before becoming more marathon focused.
It's difficult for athletes who have such range. Sifan Hassan is the similar with an even greater range, but neither her or Gidey want to focus on one event when they can compete so well at so many events. Hassan doesn't even seem bothered if entering multiple disciplines means she wins none of them, she'd rather just be competing and the same may be true for Gidey. Either way, I wish her great success in the future and look forward to seeing what she can achieve.
