    beth leachman is crazy bro. at the FEAST invitational here in Texas, she actually broke the national record for the 5k but MileSplit said the course was short... Which is crazy because that meet has always measured a full 5k, but since she broke the record obviously they got suspicious. Athletic net however listed the race as a full 5k.

      The course wasn't and isn't measured as a 5k though, its a 3 mile course

      @@NeOn-ii3mw I’ve ran it for the past 3 years and have always measured 3.11 on the dot, along with my teammates. Anyways, everyone runs a course different, cuts corners, takes tangents, so people will measure shorter or longer. The funny thing is that MileSplit has measured the FEAST invitational as a 5k every year besides this year. Again, it is ONLY because she broke the record that there was a ton of skepticism on whether the course was short or not. Have you ran this course before?

    fyi, the Woodbridge invitational is multiple different courses which has changed over time. It was originally held at the school itself but there are also the Estancia, Silverlakes, and Great Park courses. The course at Silverlakes, Norco, is probably the fastest, and it was held there from 2016-2021, while the Great Park, Irvine, (most recent location) seems to be just as fast. It might be difficult to accurately compare the times between the years, since even between 2022 and 2023 when it was held at the Great Park, the course was changed (and the 2022 course was short of 3 miles by a substantial amount). Even in this year's meet, the course was 0.06 mile too long on the first day it was held and it was adjusted correctly for the second day.

    How can this be such a great race when the meet directors can't accurate measure the mile markers after years of running? It's not that hard.

    on the friday night races this year the race was around 150m long. It was proven to be long and was a giant mistake. They said they fixed it by the next day though

    But a lot is the shoes. You think the youngs and sahlmans are way better than Grivalda, Teare, Ritzenhein, etc?

    • @swarlie5509
      @swarlie5509 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I do. It's undeniable that super shoes help this younger generation achieve success, but the larger factor is the evolution of running culture and knowledge. The level of competition and training has risen so much which is the primary cause for faster races.

      In the 80s, we only knew about runners in SoCal. And then we only read about races in local newspapers. Our community was the team. Few parents attended races. Coach wasn’t that good, parents expected a pair of shoes to last a year, no special diets, and our source of running info was Running Times, The Runner, Runner’s World, Competitor and a few other print media sources. We all loved running and were pretty good but times have changed.
