Living in El Cajon for 23 years basically all my life I grew up going to this Walmart since I was a baby, but this only tells you life evolves in different ways, nothing in this life is everlasting
Exactly!!! Walmart has ruined many communities. How many small business owners were forced out and ended up working for minimum wages at Walmart? Ugh I hate Walmart and I live in walking distance of College Grove. I boycott Walmart.
It's because they couldn't come to a lease agreement with the owners of Parkway Plaza. Also 5 mi doesn't sound like a short distance if you're driving. It's a very long distance for taking the bus in San Diego County.
Maybe the people in that community should have stood up for the store when it was being robbed by all those people instead of saying o they got insurance.
Aldi is cheap! Good quality. 68 cent avocados, $2.00 quart almond milk, $7 6 pack of craft beer on sale; these are just some of the things I remember from last visit to my Aldi in Chula Vista Main St.
We lived just off of Bradley and the 67 back in my Navy days in the mid 90's. That area was a shit hole then! I only Imagine what it is NOW! There's a reason why they call El Cajon "The Coffin"...
Parkway Plaza is not and has not ever been a shit hole fool. Born in Spring Valley, used Parkway Plaza for shopping, Christmas presents, year round mall walks and eating with my kids, ex USN, CPO and still go there and Fashion Valley. Your comment is typical Democrats! Sucks to be you.
There’s bus stations, a trolley station, smart n final, dollar tree, aldis, and if you take the bus down the street there’s a target and a food 4 less. There’s also a JCpenny in the mall still. MTS has elderly discounts for transportation and anyone under 18 rides for free as long as they have a bus pass. The fare you use with your card lasts about 2 hours until you have to pay again. There’s no excuse for these ppl. Stop being stubborn.
People won't stop stealing from them and other box stores. Can't blame Walmart for closing the "good" citizens have learned the hard way. Remember the old saying " steal from me, I take away from you" (my old saying.
Walmart’s not renewing their lease. That mall is dying, has been for years. Sears is gone, macys is gone and the space is empty. They’re planning on turning that lot into housing. Has nothing to do with stealing.
I'm more concerned about the availability of inexpensive clothing, home supplies, baby/ toddler supplies, pharmaceuticals, body care, etc in the area. This is a bummer for sure. I doubt theft is the reason why this Wal-Mart is closing. I'm sure Wal-Marts in certain areas outside of San Diego see more theft.
seriously! this whole segment was full of false or misleading info. They showed a map with yellow sections north of parkway plaza that was supposed to represent people without cars, the only thing north of the mall is industrial buildings and the airport. wonder what other truths they are stretching.
6 minutes during the daytime is not only possible but it's likely (due to traffic and the traffic signals..) Also a 20 minute walk is only accurate if you walk quickly, and you cut across the parking lot to the mall.

We in the UK are not worried about our stores closing because we just pop over to Russia, cheaper food and products and the money we saved we have a little holiday.
I can’t stand Wally World for various reasons but I also understand why it would be hard for ppl. So why is it closing? Personally it should become a grocery outlet on the first floor. Idk for the second.
Thx u for all your business and making us wealthy beyond imagination. But now it’s time for us to leave and close out business because things are getting more expensive and we can’t make more profit off of you no more. Thx u for your busyness

I wonder if retail theft is making this Walmart shut down?
That is mostly the problem that the majority of the time.
Nope…. Problems with agreeing upon a new lease. ( the problems were not disclosed anywhere.)

There's nothing in that mall anymore, lot's of homeless though
There’s plenty of stores. The mall is filled and we literally just got a new store last year
@@sierraisstressed
Macy's left and Walmart as well, no new stores because Parkway is selling the property to a High density Apartment developer.
The owners probably up the lease.

it's called theft

Aldi sucks, it is very small and no way you can get what you need there.
Might have something to do with having another one only 5 miles away...
By that logic they should close the College Grove location too.

Why? That Walmart is much busier than the one at Grossmont Center.
I think it’s the new owners of parkway plaza charging an arm and a leg to redo their lease.
It has to be because the lease is crazy expensive or there’s high theft going on
@@BenMonares It is theft. That can't afford a new lease when people steal from there, they make no money.
Even the SHOPLIFTERS are sad of the closing , they will have to travel farther to STEAL !
