I Was In The 7th Grade Age: 13. And Watched The Powers of Matthew Star on KCRA-3 NBC Sacramento and Also on KRON-4 NBC San Francisco. There Two Were Two NBC Stations Back Then on This Cable System at One Time.
They filmed this at my first high school after it had been closed down. It was also used for the drivers ed scene in the movie Valley Girl. Would hang around and watch them film. Lou Gossett was always very nice and friendly to us. RIP.
Yuri in one episode it was revealed the powers had weaknesses. One the enemy knew was they did not work when Mathew was unable to see. His father’s powers were so advanced they could work in the dark. But they may have had other weaknesses the enemy took advantage of.
I always did like the opening to this series when they show the enemy spaceships firing their lasers on the planet. One of the spaceships does look a little bit like the one used in Battle Beyond the Stars.

I never saw this show. It doesn't look to bad. It looks like something Netflix or youtube would make a regular mini-series out of and be ranked as one of the top shows on both.
Random American all the same, they should have modified them. It sounds like a ripoff. BWT, I never understood why they called Battlestar Galactica a Star Wars rip-off. I couldn’t see much resemblance.

I only vaguely remember this show. More so the name than any actual episodes. I don't think my family watched this. Watching this trailer immediately made me think of I Am Number Four (the movie not the books), in which there was a similar set up. I wonder if the author of the books or the screenwriter was inspired by this show. Having not read the books, I have no idea if there were any major differences between the two.

I think this was more remembered for an accident on the set. I only remember this for around the same time of the greatest american hero. I remember I think they decided to talk about this new sghow on the San Jose Mercury News TV GUIDE which had a picture of the show on the cover, where the guy is leaning on a table, arms spreat at the ends holding himself up, thats all I can remember and how best to describe it.
My sister use to wonder if Matthew would take his girlfriend back to Quadris as his queen. Nope. In fact, he never went back to Quadris himself. They never seem to have a final episode and fall back on TV reunion movies to wrap things up.
And this apparent Smallville prototype having Paramount Television behind it from 1982-83 on NBC, whereas the actual Smallville series had DC Comics/Warner Bros.' involvement.
Actually, I remember An Officer and a Gentlemen coming out first, my friend. That movie premeired in '82 and TPOMS came out late '82 or early '83 on NBC.
Judson Scott star of the short lived series Phoenix played an Alien Villain with super human strength in the only episode that can remember from this series. I believe he was crushed by stack old cars in a junkyard by Star using his mind powers. Scott was also in Blade he was Dragon Eddies Assistant on the Vampire council.

Why would they do that (and this show is owned by CBS Studios now, which means that a remake would end up at the CW or CBS, or on Netflix.)

From the 1982-1983 season when it first aired on NBC...this is from the first half-season episodes.
It really puzzles me why they did an overhaul of the series for the last 10 episodes from January to April 1983.

Awww - loved this show. Was all into those alien guys. Another favorite was MAN FROM ATLANTIS - Patrick Duffy ruled!
This brings back a lot of memories. I was 13 and in eigth grade when it first aired on NBC (Channel 5 in Chicago).
As far as Peter Barton's role as an actor in this series was concerned, I always felt that most of the work was done by his hairdo.
