I’m not sure why this doesn’t have more views, this is the kind of content where you see someone actually divulge real life business ventures for free. If you don’t mind me asking did you see a way you could have made more money from the shop if you kept it? Also what other businesses do you have in mind to start
Hopefully views will come soon bro & yeah there was room to scale the business, I should’ve done a leaflet drop in the neighbourhood, there’s uni & a big estate near by, also towards the end I self taught myself simple repairs like screen replacements etc, if I’d done this from the start, I would’ve saved a lot because technicians was charging £15/$19 for every screen replacement he done, I didn’t focus on the whole “we buy phones” aspect of the business as much as I should’ve, also towards the end I stopped opening on time & this took a chunk from revenue, there was room for growth If I had that business in my 5 year plan & im thinking of trying a ghost kitchen, I don’t see how it can go wrong if I get the branding right
Hey i used to work in electronics, you cant just sit in the shop. You need to spend marketing - push ppc from day one and start local seo if you do repairs its not that hard to learn and you already sit there. you also need to partner with a network and offer a killer business opening deal like free prepaid cards with Xgb data for a month make a few quid minus per card to be known locally great marketing. flip phones in your shop and eBay while you sit there, the public needs cash. Additional ideas build a connection with OEMs and buy outdated models of electronics where it doesn't matter so much ( not phones) and flip on eBay to collect from your store, buy old desctop company grade computers, check and sell to local businesses that need longevity instead of performance. Offer basic IT services like setting up phone and networks and software packages in local small businesses. You have a good eye in shop design and got killer cheap deals for furniture and craftsmen - make a business fitting stores, just learn how to advertise.
Yeah you right, didn’t do any of what you just said, my plan was to do a leaflet drop in the neighbourhood, put on a few good deals on repairs etc. if I’d stayed in the shop longer, I’d definitely adapt some of the things you’ve mentioned.
Appreciate this bro & I’ve literally just been thinking like 30 mins ago, I’m going to make a website focusing on customised phone cases (pets & loved ones) & run ads & see how that goes, eBay isn’t cutting it no more
3:35 I have those laminate floors in my house, dont recommend they, they react badly with moisutre and will puff up. I think for a commercial property you shjould just stick to good old lino. It will be waterproof and cheap and easily replacable.
What did you even buy for that 5000? The space was rented, the stock was (like you said) outdated and therefore almost worthless, the business itself had (judging by the number of customers in the first months) no recurring customers, no "popularity" or being established, it wasn't known about...to me it feels like you got pretty much nothing for the 5k, you could've just rented a new place and start a completely new business.
Most of us as entrepreneurs have been here brother, I'm a stickler on design and I love spending time on it and it looks amazing after getting done, but I've learned my lesson. Before I even launch my business majority is spent on marketing, and the minimum required to have it functional and capable of getting a sale is what I spend on starting out the actual business. You want to get those sales in with marketing and prove your concept first before you invest large amount of time and money into it, we all learned though I bet it was a fun experience setting up the shop
Really high quality content. this guy is taking risks to learn the lessons he did, and shares the lessons with us for free. I'm sure you'll get big brotha this content is gold.
just saw this video now. I'm from Portugal and there was a guy name João Costa Rodrigues that used to the same thing you were doing, flipping iPhones and he scaled that company, the company is called ForAllPhones and eventually he sold it for 20M€.
you need to do a thorough business plan when taking on a store. Because you can't just wing it, you now have massive overheads, rent, business rates and commercial energy cost. One thing you didnt consider is you were getting phones on the cheap by picking them up from people's house. Those people just wantg to get rid of their phones without hassle. You go to their house to pick it up. They are not bothered enough to sell it themselves on ebay or take it to a CEX type shop to sell it. By getting a shop you are stuck in your premsis all day waiting for customers to come to you. So you are not going around picking up cheap phones from people's houses. Any walk in person who wants to sell to your shop is more motivated to get a better price so they will get quotes from other phone shops and CEX type buy/sell shops. When phone flipping you're making your money sourcing prodcuts at the cheapest possible price and then you flip it at market rates which makes it so much easy to sell.
Just stumbled upon your channel, love your content keep it coming its so legit unlike all this other fake bs across the internet! Was gutted for you and your venture when you started saying your revenues. Good luck with your next business, will be starting my own mechanics business in October when my work contract finishes. Peace.
Thanks for watching 🖤 & mechanic shops are great, always thought if I had the knowledge & skill I’d start one where I buy cat B (basically scrap cars) & break them down & sell for parts on eBay
should I flip phones even if I dont have enough knowledge to know which is worth buying and which is not? if not, how should i learn it from online or some repair shop?
First of all great video! Love how transparent you are with your journey, I wonder why you didn’t put the trade from flipping phones into this and used the shop as a base? Surely the trade of both would’ve made it more lucrative and could have got a better sale?
Bro my honest advice is don’t start a phone shop in this economy, sales on accessories are competing with Amazon & eBay, phones sales are competing with Facebook, only guarantee revenue is repairs.
I agree fam this guy has jump started my brain from stagnancy. Most content out there is filled with U.S. scammers or people just sat in front of a camera just chatting and not getting their hands dirty at least with big man we know what pitfalls to expect and what avenues to avoid. Great work man, looking forward to more content. New sub earned. ✌
2:11 bro he's not a friend, seems like he screwed you over and raided the shop to get the best products he can sell on ebay and left you with all the shit.
I can tell if you did videos a little more often you would have so much more subscribers. Maybe you can do these video a little longer but make two part out of it. I can guarantee this! You doing a great job tho and you are definetely underrated.
Do you have local online auctions in the UK outside of ebay? I saw your videos and immediately thought about my local auction. Found 68 popular card games that sell on Amazon for $25 and about the same on Ebay. Set a max bid on each item for $3 (USD) and I won all of them except for 1. Now I am going to list them online. I spent at most $1 for an item and won some for as little as 25 cents. Lets just say it was $1 each item plus the $40 fee to sell on Amazon has my total investment is $108. I anticipate make $15 on each item for a total of $912 profit.
Nice job! Just wondering if you ever try different types of advertising and marketing for the side hustles. I know the e-commerce platforms are a way to get the automatic traffic. I’ve had some success with sales when I’ve paid for advertising. It’s not always 100%, there’s sometimes a loss too. Just curious if you’ll try it on a brick and mortar new store or any other side hustles in future vids.
I didn’t advertise this store at all because it felt like I was throwing money and not having no returns but I think brick & mortar businesses benefit more from google optimisation / ads because they target location etc, I’ve seen some run ads on Facebook too, would be interesting to find out the best way to market them
