In all honesty, the animating style of the "Really Scary" game, if it were done in some deliberate sort of way and not... this... ...would actually really really be successfully terrifying. Especially in making things move in unnatural ways and unnatural speeds. Like, that crappy spider person jumpscare with the royalty free sound effect actually got me good for the sole reason that he kinda looked like he was moving without moving, and doing it fast. Really triggered the monke brain to go NOPENOPENOPE there. And then there's the general gameplay flow and idea. The staticness of the world when you yourself are stood still, the on-rails traveling system like a point-and-click on crack, the janky framerate... it can all set up for quite the unsettling experience. This game feels like some doofus had a shadow of a great idea and immediately threw all execution into a wood chipper in the process of trying to make it a thing. Good thing there's potential to take this idea and give it good execution in a good filming location with good photographers, voice actors, set designers, and et cetera... maybe.
