We were so lucky to be recommended hiking Congost de Mont-rebei in Catalonia and it turns out to be our best thing to do in Spain. You can do it on the Aragon side but we explored the Catalonian side. After another night in the car we came to a must see hidden gem in Spain. The hike took in total 8 hours but was worth every step. The blue water of the river running through was breathtaking as was the trek trail itself. This place is so far off the tourist trail and beaten path and collectively we saw about 3 people the whole day. If you want to feel like you are discovering some hidden place like an old fashioned adventurer, this is the one for you. In this Spain travel video we hopefully capture why it is worth coming to Spain for Congost de Mont-rebei alone.

In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

It is a pity that many Britons only know about Spain Magaluf, Benidorm and some beaches, they forget that Spain is the European country with more forest areas and with more climatic variety in Europe, there are high mountains, rivers, lakes, deserts, forests, meadows and a lot of history. Thank you for your contribution to project another image of Spain away from the noise of the coastal discos.

Years ago, When I was backpacking across Western Europe, I was just outside Barcelona, hiking in the foothills of mount Tibidabo. I was at the end of this path, and I came to a clearing, and there was a lake, very secluded, and there were tall trees all around. It was dead silent. Gorgeous. And across the lake I saw, a beautiful woman, bathing herself. But she was crying ...

The path and gorge are not a secret spot. Normally you meet quite a few tourists there. Otherwise, however, it is absolutely worth seeing.

An underrated place in Spain is Cabo de Gata, It's a virgin natural park in Almeria (South East of Spain) There you'll find dessertic landscapes, virgin beaches, crystal blue waters and some quiet white fishing villages. It's also a cheap destination as it's not as packed with tourists as the rest of the mediterranean coast. You'll feel like you are in Mars there. There is also a dessert where hollywood western films were filmed, it's called Tabernas Dessert.

Not so far from where you drived with your car you have el Pantà de Terradets, and in winter mornings it can get pretty spectacular, because you can see the snowed Pyrenees on the background and sometimes have quite a lot of fog at surnise. And if you're lucky and it's a quite day it looks like a mirror of the snowed Pyrenees.
I am from that area and I travel around Catalonia quite often. I'm new to this channel so I don't know if someone has already told you about this places, but I would try to go to el Prat del Cadí during winter, or early spring when there's still snow. From the town of Estana it's a pretty easy hike just about 1 or 1:30 hours, depending on how much ice you come across.
Another easy trip, not physically demanding and just about 2h drive from Barcelona is from the town of Bagà, you can take a road that goes up into the mountain to el Coll de Pal. I also like to do it during winter time, usually the road is open of snow but you can check it before hand online. And from there you can see the Pedraforca, el Moixeró, walk up to la Tossa d'Alp or many other easy hikes with good views. On clear days you can even see Montserrat from up there.
Another one of my favorites is to see the sunrise during winter al l'Escala, on la Costa Brava, from the area of the highest part of the town, called Montgó, you can see the whole bay and the snowed Canigó on the background. A beautiful contrast. And then you can spend your day at el Cap de Creus, or from places like Palamós you can walk the camí de ronda and see many different beaches that you can only access hiking.
And if you like the Parc of Aigüestortes but you feel there's too many tourists, you can go to l'estany d'Airoto, it's very close, and about a 3 hour hike with way less people.
Another amazing place is la Val d'Aran, where you can even drive to places such as els Uelhs deth Joeu or el Saut deth Pish, and of course you have several hikes that start from those points.

I hiked this a couple of years back on a cold December morning - I wrote a piece on it for baldhiker which you can easily find. It's a great spot but if you are looking for rival walks then the Cares Gorge in the Picos de Europa is definitely worth a look, or the Ordesa canyon in Ordesa y Monte Perdido national park although both are on a track which is slightly more beaten then this. Try Aiguestortes NP, La Garrotxa, or La Cerdanya for more great Catalan hiking spots.

Congost de Mont-Rebei is absolutely amazing, we found it almost by accident and spent all day there. We also visited Parc d'Aigüestortes, about 80 km north from the Congost, and it was maybe even more impressive. I am planning a trip to the Pyrenees this summer, 2020. After watching your video I have now put Congost de Mont-rebei Catalonia on my top destination list. I would like to know what month you were there? I read that May was the rainiest month and that temperatures in the Pyrenees in July and August only reached 68 degrees as a high. Either that was incorrect information or you were having a freak heatwave during the time you were there. I'm not a hard core hiker, but, I love to take pictures. Any other destinations or suggestions you have for me would be greatly appreciated. I really loved your video. Cathy

That narrow cliff path looked very familiar, Spaghetti Western circa 1970's, they were all shot in Spain and now we know where. For f*** sake get some hats, we don't want to see you in some foreign A & E with heat stroke. 💋💋👸🧔
