Great work! I did a southern-style sweet tea mead a few months back that my family obliterated lol. It was my first one that was an obvious crowd-pleaser.
@@ManMadeMead Nice! I was a band director for five years. I’d noticed the PASIC shirts in some of your videos; I played there with Troy University’s percussion ensemble at PASIC15. We probably walked by each other at some point lol
Curious how cold brew tea would work here instead. I strongly prefer tea brewed in the fridge, it's much smoother and more consistent in flavor, and lets you steep much longer to extract more flavor. Doing cold brew tea steeping in secondary may produce a similar or better result (also, why not before and after?) Arnold palmer mead? Sounds pretty good.
Nice video as always.... have you ever thought of using long pepper in mead? It tastes like a mix of black pepper, cinnamon , nutmeg , and cardamom.... it was used in medieval cooking and so on and is used in Indian and Asian cuisine... is available on amazon but I always thought it be good to spice a mead with
It’s interesting to work with teas and incorporating them in meads. I usually make a super concentrated tea and then add post fermentation to avoid yeast scrubbing some of the aromatics from the teas. I do think herbal teas can do better in primary. I think teas are affordable ways to integrate flavors into meads too.

It's painfully easy to over-steep tea when you're making it in bulk (especially green tea, which can get awfully bitter), just because the water takes so much longer to cool down than it does when you brew a single cup. I often put the tea in a big metal mixing bowl, and then put that mixing bowl inside an even bigger bowl full of ice water, to get it to rapidly cool to room temp. I find bitter tea tastes worse at room temp than it does when the tea is hot, so I make sure to taste-test the tea at room temp before putting it in the carboy.
I have a Chai masala mead bulk aging currently. I did backsweeten it a bit and added a vanilla bean and some lactose. When I tried it, it was pretty good. I also had he same experience with it clearing up very quickly! I wonder what that is all about 🤔
I’ve made a batch of mint green tea before, I cold brewed it overnight and it was great. The downside was, it was terrible until it aged about 9 months, then it was almost fruity pebbles tasting!
The problem is that it needs to be heated up. And if you do that when it's already done, the alcohol will evaporate. You might be able to cold brew some
Did a wildflower honey with oolong tea. I was pleasantly surprised on how it turned out! It gave it full body with a slight earthy note and a smidge of a spice note hiding in the background coupled with the floral notes of the honey!
I use tea a lot, actually. Raspberry Hibiscus makes a really nice mead. As does earl grey, I make a london fog mead with it. My pear, vanilla, and chai mead has aged really well.
Great video, you saved the day with an animated Mandy!
Loved the video man the editing was great and just well done man can't wait to see more videos in the future
I appreciate you!
Great work!

I’ve always wanted to try that. I see you’re a percussionists from your bio pic. I am too!

Perfect timing! I'm considering making one of my next batches with one of my favorite teas, a strawberry and goji berry oolong tea 😊
Ooh that sounds great!
I just bottled a Chai masala mead and a black current tea mix from fusion teas. They turned out amazing. I love making meads out of tea blends.
I’ll have to try that!
Could've used AI and a picture of Mandy to create an animated version that would be creepily realistic lol
Literally just wanted to start a new batch with tea and this came out. Insane timing.

I haven't heard of it but it sounds fun!

Hi guys, New here loving the Videos, would any of you have any recommendations on the best places to buy mead in the UK please?
Mix a shot or 2 of RumChata per bottle I think would be awesome in the Chi and the cinnamon roll.
I just started looking into tea meads. This video is a godsend. Quality work as always
I appreciate you!
Ive actually tried a lemon ginger tea that tasted like sponge cake as a mead base... It was... Fine. I kind of just use it for cooking now.
Do you think a bread yeast would add to the cinnamon roll mead?
I'm not sure about that!
Interesting! Animated mandy wasn't bad, but not as expressive as the real one 😆
I’ve made a batch of mint green tea before, I cold brewed it overnight and it was great. The downside was, it was terrible until it aged about 9 months, then it was almost fruity pebbles tasting!
That’s super interesting!
Maybe the lemon blossom honey was created by tomato blossom s fun video 👍🏼👍
Maybe it’s better to put the spices and teas in secondary so they don’t ferment?
Maybe!
The problem is that it needs to be heated up. And if you do that when it's already done, the alcohol will evaporate. You might be able to cold brew some
My favorite was a Rooibos tea base with orange blossom honey. It aged very well
Was just thinking about making a tea mead and boom heres a sign 😊
My advice would be to cold steep the tea in the fridge overnight. That should create a less bitter and smoother tea base for the mead.

Fusion teas also has a Chocolate Dipped Raspberry Black Tea I am making next.

The avatar works. In the future, turn all your guest tasters into cartoons. 😁
If only that were feasible! It cost me about $70 to have someone animate her for this video. This video will only make about $5 😂
Chai means tea ... 😅
Huh. Neat. I'm a beer brewer. This makes me think of brewing with teas. Maybe a SMASH blonde, low hops. huh.
