I mean, Dustin has a radio and Eleven has a radio, and she can defeat all the monsters by herself, so basically, Dustin can defeat all the monsters. Well, he does as long as he can always outrun danger for the like 15 mins it takes to drive Eleven to where he is.
The art is one of the most important things in my eyes. I usually get 1 full art card per set and I for sure build that one because it makes me the most excited.
Mushrooms can be used to dye various things, including hair. It wouldn't be easy though, because of how mushroom dyes work. Innistrad has plenty of mushrooms.
"random fun synergy" yes... because it's totally random that they released a blue creature that does slime counters 2 months before this card in the cards sister set, and put the blue pip in toxrills ability cost totally randomly....
Eruth seems like a nice way to rip through your deck for a storm build. Cantrip all day and cast Ignite Memories or Use magus of the mind to cast so much of your deck and aetherflux or sentinel tower the table!
I agree with beezy, Jacob's side story was quite neat. My favourite so far in this block has been the Old Stickfingers story from Midnight Hunt, but in general while the main plot has been so-so, side stories have been quite solid.

I actually saw Olivia and she really peaked my interest as the lead of a different style of deck than you would normally expect, a rackdos ETB deck. so the deck would just focus on ETB effects, ways to make them come back when they die, ways to bring them back from the yard, and Olivia would just be there as a way to reanimate things on demand

I asked my girlfriend about ghost hat etc. She just straight out said "ghost can't lose connection with the object it has, just can't" so I thought I'll share this insight about rules of the otherworld.
About Millicent: people were buried with tools of their trade so that they would have them or versions of them in the afterlife. I believe that the spirits were buried with the objects they are carrying. An exception would be that physical armor that is being interacted with. It probably takes a certain amount of energy or concentration to carry the armor with you so it represents how strong of a spirit she is.
I think everyone's sleeping on my boy Odric. Sure, he's not suuuper powerful, but what he does give you is a ton of artifact tokens, in the best colors to take advantage of a ton of artifacts. He's easily blinkable in white, and he gets a lot of out suiting up your creatures with equipment. Sure, are there better Equipment or Artifact commanders in Boros? Sure, but he's not useless by any stretch. Hellkite Tyrant, Ghirapur Aether Grid, KCI, there's a ton of things that can get a ton of value out of having a bunch of dinky tokens that are kinda tricky to interact with, and that no one will want to touch under most circumstances.

Nerds, would like to hear your thoughts on playing spike cards in a Timmy method. Like say you have half a 2 card combo and a demonic tutor in hand. A spike would tutor and win, but a Timmy would Tutor for a cool play that shows off your deck. Is that a mindset that the community at large would ever adopt?
LOL I do that mostly because I don't want the game to end but also depends on threat assessment, there are people at my FNM that expect you to combo and not twiddle... I twiddle anyways #4TheLoveOfTheGame :P

Or if nobody is close to winning, I might tutor for a powerful if not game ending effect because I'm not racing the other combos just yet.
The b/w artwork for Dorothea was done by Karmazid, a artist very well known in the metal underground community. He did a lot of cover artworks for many small bands and also for the site I wrote for, so seeing him doing a mtg card was such a cool moment to see. Sadly the card itself is meh but yeah, here hoping for future collaborations.
With regards to names, Liliana, Magda and Renata are all Polish names (or at least names with some prevalence in Polish). So while none of the names from this set resonate with me, they may resonate with somebody for one reason or another. Then again, I built a Vadrok deck that was inspired by a bad "dad rock" pun, so maybe I'm not the best person to start this discussion lol

Edgar is not based off Dracula, hes based off of Strahd from the old(and new updated) D&D campaign "The Curse of Strahd". Strahd makes a deal with a demon and becomes a vampire, in the second half of the campaign (spoilers) he is even trying to get married. The plane of Innistrad is even sorta based on the campaign. First off the name is literally pronounced InniSTRAHD and the curse in the campaign makes the area(forgot the name) be perpetually trapped in a sort of pocket dimension where theres messed up stuff happening to those who die and is overall super halloween themed. Werewolves, witches that know ancient secrets of the area, a vampire lord who runs the area, and messed up spirit shit happening to peoples souls when they die so they can never rest. All of these are in both.
In some universes, weapons and clothes are created by the spirit himself as per how he imagines himself from his memories and personality (self-doubting ghosts get as such crappy ghost forms), and are made of what a ghost is made of (sometimes called Pathos or ectoplasm) and depending the universe, either fade when separated and the ghost can create it again or exists independently by being made of the memories of the ghost who created them.
I feel like once again, the power rankings are really, really off. Toxril at a 5, and grolnok at a 6 seems wrong. These are by far and a way the strongest two commanders in this set. Especially when an extremely subpar commander like Torens is at a 7?
We now officially need to have a land matters frog in Dimir to complete the Sultai frog block. Since Gitrog is a Horror (signature of Black), and a Frog suits green fine, I propose a Frog Spirit: Hypno Toad. Give him a triggerable Surveil, and a way to put lands into play from graveyard. As a final blessing, his Hypno Toad powers gives them all reach, and on hit of enemy player, random discard.
I made a storm eruth deck and its so good I mean your brainstorm turns into a 1 mana draw 6 wheels just draw you 14 cards now the sad part is losing the cards at the end of the turn but with cards like stormkiln artist, runaway steamkin and birgi I manage to play most of my deck, usually win with grapeshot/ub combo
I do like that you guys add artwork into the equation since I will actively avoid cards I think look bad. Most magic cards look at least alright, so a card would have to be SUPER busted for me to include it if I hate the artwork
I have a Boros Hofri Reanimator deck which Odric will fit pretty good in, but honestly, I could see Odric in the lead of a weird Boros Value Reccursion deck, utilising the blood tokens as aditionwl discard to put huge beaters in the graveyard that relie on keywords. I honestly think hes fine, especially because he is a 3drop in white. How many sun titan effects are there in white to reanimate him and get more value. Fuck it, ima build it.
Torens is great, but there's something to be said for the +1 counter strategy being f-ing annoying to play and keep track of... Like... "Hard pass" - call me what you will.
Laurine does hang out with a vampire, that hands out blood tokens maybe she is a platinum blond who sacrifices blood tokens (or people?) To die her hair. EDIT: It clearly upset beezy maybe that's why things are goaded.
Honestly I feel people are selling Anje a little short. She works fairly well as a vampire commander because vampires have several "themes" running throughout their cards. One is only triggers if your opponent lost life, two is triggers if you gain life, three is madness, four is blood tokens and Anje enables all four. She isn't a super strong vampire commander, but I do think she is a little stronger then people give her credit for, and you can pretty much just put all of your favorite R/B vampires in a deck and she will make all of them work, and having a generic vampire commander that isn't Edgar is nice because Edgar is definitely too much for some tables. Edit: Also my favorite big creature "tribe" are the sea monsters, and my favorite normal tribe is vampires so Runo Stromkirk indeed caters directly to me.
Thanks for the video! Have you thought about revisiting the rankings at some point to update grades? Things like power and uniqueness change over time so your old grades are outdated on some cards.
I'm convinced I can make Odric work. It won't be particularly vampire-y, and will share alot of cards with Kodama and ...togg?(landfall rock) but I ca make it work. Probably clock of omens combos. I'll keep everyone posted xD

Torens is great, but there's something to be said for the +1 counter strategy being f-ing annoying to play and keep track of... Like... "Hard pass" - call me what you will.
Buying +1/+1 dice is crucial. Worth the small investment.

I stopped at Season 4 of Dexter - that season is probably some of the best content I've seen from a show.
Laurine does hang out with a vampire, that hands out blood tokens maybe she is a platinum blond who sacrifices blood tokens (or people?) To die her hair.
EDIT: It clearly upset beezy maybe that's why things are goaded.
Honestly I feel people are selling Anje a little short. She works fairly well as a vampire commander because vampires have several "themes" running throughout their cards. One is only triggers if your opponent lost life, two is triggers if you gain life, three is madness, four is blood tokens and Anje enables all four. She isn't a super strong vampire commander, but I do think she is a little stronger then people give her credit for, and you can pretty much just put all of your favorite R/B vampires in a deck and she will make all of them work, and having a generic vampire commander that isn't Edgar is nice because Edgar is definitely too much for some tables.
Edit: Also my favorite big creature "tribe" are the sea monsters, and my favorite normal tribe is vampires so Runo Stromkirk indeed caters directly to me.
Thanks for the video! Have you thought about revisiting the rankings at some point to update grades? Things like power and uniqueness change over time so your old grades are outdated on some cards.

I'm convinced I can make Odric work. It won't be particularly vampire-y, and will share alot of cards with Kodama and ...togg?(landfall rock) but I ca make it work. Probably clock of omens combos.

Interesting note: things hit the graveyard before they get exiled by grolnok, so other payoffs for cards hitting your graveyard still work
I'm anxious to build a Grolnok deck. Having cards to play/cast from your hand AND from exile seems smells like consistency.
