I've actually found that every time I play Italy even semi-competently, the rest of my allies immediately become incredibly incompetent. Germany will fail to take Poland by 1941 or charge through the Maginot, Japan will get demolished by Communist China, Bulgaria will be unable to hold against Greece. It's like the Axis always need to have a clownshoes bumbling idiot.
@@patrioticshitstain i know what you mean, playing as communist China i united country and defeated Japan (without any DLC it takes a while) and meanwhile Germany crushed entire planet, United State lost whopping 10k man before giving up and never sending a single soldier anywhere, Britain fielded massive 5 division army.... yes, 5 division through entire war, and USSR surrender in 1946. Next time i played as Netherlands, going axis and Germany gets crushed by Poland.... f*ckin briliant.
In the eventual dlc that will come out for italy in 2045 that'll be 199.99, there should be an alternate history where Chef Boyardee takes over Italy

Reminder that in less than a year it will be HoI’s 6th anniversary and Italy, literally the second most major Axis power, has a sucky focus tree still.
My sense of humor has been degraded to the point where I now will laugh at a map with voiceover saying spaghetti over and over and over again.
The only cool thing about Italy in the base game is that their Super-Heavy Tank picture looks cool. That's it.
You should've puppet Turkey because they have very good ai also you won't have to deal with resistance and you could easily get chromium from very cheap trade.
Ps: In my games they always naval invade Dutch east indies.
I am not quite sure how good Turkish AI is, all I know is that they are smart enough to attack my level 3 fort over a river long enough to be encircled in Byzantium...

I actually did a historically game last week. Funny thing, I put some defensive troops in Albania against Greece, and forgot about them while in Africa. Well, at the very least Germany saved my ass eventually there.

The only thing in my opinion that needs to be updated is the Political side. Because the Industry side is okay and you get tons of really strong buffs for ships, you can rush Battleship 3s complete with armor really quickly and just obliterate the British and French navies with them. The problem is the literal only thing worth taking in the political side is Triumph in Africa and then the one that gives land and air doctrine research speed if you do Pact of Steel. Other than that there's no reason to go down it. So if they would just rework that I would be fine. Because a lot of the new trees I actually despise, they're way too convoluted and obnoxious. "You need to go Fascist but in order to do that you need to kill the Communists, ignite a civil war against the monarch, build 15 Destroyers and invade Brazil" obviously that's a bit exaggerated but it's not really that far from the truth...

I think the worst part of the Focus Tree for Italy is it's meager attempt at an Alt History path with making a faction of their own with Japan... who starts the game in a faction. And thus will never be available to join that faction.

To be fair, that faction didn't exist at release. It was just the Axis, Allies and ComIntern, no Co-Prosperity Sphere.
