    I just bought one of these today. It's a wonderful instrument. My next assignment is to make it sound as lovely as you do.

    I really like the looks and sound of a mahogany guitar. I bought an AD22. Had I known about this one I would have bought it. I really like your playing!

    How does it compare to the AD22e which is also all-mahogany?

    • @rob1261a
      @rob1261a 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      First of all, the AD22e is a Mahogany Top with Sapele Back and Sides. There are videos comparing them (AlamoMusic). Also the sizes are different, the AD22e is a larger guitar (grand concert). Both all solid / American made. Really comes down to preference. The GTe Mahogany has been discontinued and essentially replaced by the AD21e.

    Just bought this guitar. Love it. If there is one thing I want in an acoustic it's a smooth, mellow but articulate tone. I hate brash, bright sounding acoustics more than I can convey in words. Taylor are known for bright sounding guitars - so I never thought I would get on with one. But this is wonderful. For my money, this GTE mahogany has a sweeter tone than Martin's equivalent 00 15 series all-mahogany. This has a far nicer strummed voice. The Martin sounds scratchy by comparison and less well-balanced. For a small guitar it isn't boxy sounding at all but open and resonant. Another big bonus over the Martin (which I do like BTW) is its superior playability. It has a shorter scale, more rolled edges on the fretboard and the fretboard itself has a lower radius (i.e more curve). Would have preferred it without electronics, but that's no big deal. A winner if you are after playability and a rich, open voice in a small guitar.

    I have an Alvarez AD66SHB with a solid mahogany top that is so warm sounding.

    Sounds ( and appears ) she's using an open tuning. Nice instrument. Why do all the nice ones start north of $1000 ?

    Great review and playing, how would you compare the playability of this with the GS-mini when it comes to string tension and lead playing (solos)??

    Maybe I got a lemon, but the GT mahogany I got from a big name online dealer feels like a baseball bat attached to a hat box. Thick heavy neck and boxy dead body. Taylors in general have heavy necks, but I had hoped that on the scaled down version they would make a slimmer neck (depth, not nut width). For banging around, may be OK. but the $1700 price tag is about 1000 too much. This guitar will go the way of the AMC Pacer. My advice is try before you buy.

    What guitar is over Meg’s right shoulder at about 1:05-1:15 in the video?

      Looks like maybe a Taylor GS-mini Koa.

    Hello! Is it a good guitar? GTe Mahogany? I have smaller fingers and need a smaller guitar with a shorter scale. What is she like? I am interested in personal opinion.

    I got one of the last ones. Sadly discontinued. Hard to find tropical mahogany or even neo-tropical mahogany at this price point. I was never a big fan of the Taylor sound but this one sounded really nice and "hog-ish". Although I have to say the Urban Ash sounded good too, and there's a video comparing the two.

    Is it me or am I wrong. It seems as though Taylor's designs and manufacturing is better than Martin's for these lower end models. I picked up and played both recently and I found the Taylor's to be built and played better.

    I agree that all mahog is in a class all its own. I really dig the tone of all mahogany guitars. I compared this guitar and the Martin 000-15M....ended up buying the Martin, no real comparison in volume, tone and resonance acoustically....the Martin was more of everything sonically. I did notice a rather "larger than normal" top belly distortion on the Taylor. Here's the funny thing about You Tube music store reviews. They all tout Taylors funky new bracing patterns is the latest greatest advance in new acoustic tone, what would you expect them to say, when they are forced to purchase a certain number to remain Taylor authorised dealers? If you watch Andy Powers (YT interviews) , he will make claims with an almost cynical attitude, that their new guitars/designs sound better, they do not....all one needs to do is compare a new X braced guitar (they are still around in shops to the new V or C braced. My local big box dealer did have several used V and C braced guitars hanging at quite interesting prices, I played several...when I asked the salesman what they traded in for, he sheepishly replied, "more traditional acoustic designs"...enough said. You be the judge!
