Update. Cant say enough how much I love this guitar! Great fingerpicker and a great strummer! The size is so comfortable to play and the sound is awesome. Chose this guitar over the Martin 00015m. Another awesome guitar but glad I chose the Taylor!
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
Why does the slightly smaller guitar (AD21e) have a deeper bass response? I know, and I can now reveal it to the world though those in the know seem to want to keep it a secret. The AD21e uses medium strings and the AD22e uses light strings.
It might also be because of the different bracing. The AD21e has C bracing (no idea what this looks like, but maybe it's an X bracing variant?), and the AD22e has V bracing which is known for being quieter, more balanced across the frequency spectrum (less scooped, so more mids, less bass) and with more sustain compared to X bracing.
I believe Taylor should have made the 21e a twelve-fret instead of a 14, it would have been close to perfect for those of us who love the GS Mini but have difficulties playing it because of its small size.
Below is an excellent video on Taylor’s numbering scheme. Unfortunately, Paul just got it wrong. 1st - AD = American Dream, 2nd - 2 = 6 string Hardwood top, 3rd - 1 = Grand Theater, 2 = Grant Concert, 4th - e = Electric. th-cam.com/video/lrWH1xLwZS8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2-eKZUYKF-3FMENn
It’s not supposed to be an upgrade. It’s a Replacement. All GT guitars were rolled into other Series (AD, 811…) or discontinued. Personally I don’t like Glossy.
One reason I traded my Guild OM-120 (all hog) was that it looked like it had 20 coats of car wax on it as compared to the AD-22, to me, looks like real, naturally finished wood.
We made it back after an excellent week at NAMM - my first one! It's very cool to see what the makers are coming up with and so much great music on the floor and on the stages! Hopefully Paul will invite me back :)
AD 22e has a wider neck (1"24/32 or 4,445 mm)) than AD 21e (1" 23/32 or 4, 366 mm) ; that would be a reason to prefer one over the other (together with the larger scale maybe) according to your taste...
Just pulled the trigger on the 22e! Enjoyed your review and playing!

I have an AD12e. It is one of the nicest, most playable guitars that I have! It’s not the loudest but it is a wonderful size for sofa noodling!
AD=American Dream 2=hardwood top. The last number is the body shape.
The 22 is much more mid-forward. The 21 sounds a little deeper, so this a bit confusing😊. Great review as always dudes!
More playing by Quentin and less talk please. Just kidding. Really appreciate you guys, the music and the knowledge that you give.

AD-21for strumming AD-22 for fingerpicking. Most of the time ya need two on hand!
Nice review! The 21 has a deeper Mahogany tone. I like it better.

I favor the larger Taylor models (618 & 818) for their greater bass. These instruments, in the right hands for the right styling would be quite nice.
The AD21 is a shrunk down x28 body.
Great Video 📷

Still no AD Grand Auditorium? Taylor’s most popular guitar?
Well your prayers are answered now. They just released one. AD24e
The grand concert is money
No gloss finish? How is this an upgrade from the full mahogany gte?

As of now,you guys get about 8% of viewers who actually hit the "like" button. Shameful!!
Just a bit smaller AD21E. Smaller body & shorter scale
Nice but for the US-made price.
Andy is doing too much with models and numberings.
I miss the simple days
