    The thing about Frankie for me is that he remains funny, cutting and relevant despite being on the scene for such a long time now. He is uncompromising and deeply intelligent and behind the outrageous perversity of this thought train there are abiding truths that don't get old. He also does a good job of picking his guests.

    • @Junglecat03
      @Junglecat03 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Presumably we're all liberals right or left in the UK. This isn't the states where they have forgotten western civilization was built on liberalist thinking after all. Obviously Trump is an easy target to mock and I agree he should be ignored much more. Sadly his position as president does mean he gets more attention than is warranted. Frankie hasn't changed his views over the years though. You are just not familiar with his oeuvre.
      Just out of interest, which current comedians do you think cover political content well? You obviously don't get comedians less PC than Boyle but happy to hear your suggestions for alternatives to Boyle to front a show such as this.

If they wanted Sir Robin Day, they would hardly have fronted the show with Frankie Boyle FFS.

It's alright. I mean you have to Que for like twenty minutes sometimes, so I dont know if fraud is really viable, or even worth the time.

    18:28 - I hope she really just wrote "a little bit", because what she said there is complete nonsense.
    Faces are not inherently "harder to render" than anything else, and games aren't required to look realistic, anyway (some of the most popular games are deliberately cartoony).
    And "rendering a realistic face" is not a *gameplay* element, at best it's a tech demo. To create a game that people will want to play (and replay) you need some challenging activity, like shooting alien invaders, racing cars, building a city, jumping across platforms, managing a sports team, tidying up a farm, exploring an ocean on a different planet, etc..
    None of that is inherently about "dystopian futures". Looks like she played maybe two games in her whole life and constructed a nonsensical narrative about "rendering faces" to apply her experience to the entire games industry (and gamers in general).

      Frankie's jokes aren't even that bad on this show, it just feels worse because he rattles off like 15 in a row in a monologue that are all borderline.

      Katherine Ryan? She's a regular and she's a Brit-based Canadian comedian. Only a guess, not watched that episode.

    I love how they actually made the algorithm do Uptalk. The basic code must have been written in the 80s ...

    I live near the American border in Alberta and the northern border is so open that it’s hard to tell where it is in some places. I’ve accidentally wandered over the border several times while hiking in the mountains and on the prairie without even knowing it, so when I hear about these kids getting locked up at the border (which I also crossed as a kid on foot while on vacation in Mexico) I get pretty outraged knowing that I went through there with ease because I was white, that I crossed the border into Montana and nobody cared, and that these people can’t be treated the way I was simply because of how they look.

    Whenever I watch NWO one of my first thoughts is: Wow, that's a very female panel! Like just now. I thought: It's only two men! That's the moment I begin to wonder: Wait, it's five people - two men, three women. You can't get a more gender-equal show (setting aside people of a different gender). And this really freaks me out. About half/half gives me the impression of female dominated. There is a long way to go.

    • @pensiring7112
      @pensiring7112 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      3:2 is not equal ... and in the shot there are three women placed around one man ... no wonder you think it is female dominated, as Frankie sits removed from the group and as host, not as part of the guests. If it was a female host, with one female guest and three males, you'd think "Man, there aren't enough women on this show"

    • @oskarkuelz2706
      @oskarkuelz2706 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pensi Ring 3:2 is as equal as possible with 5 people. And if there where only men it would be normal. Wouldn't complain. If I would, I had a lot to do. And anyway, I do not think there is anything wrong with an all male penal. It's bullshit to pretend to know what someone else would do or think.

    It's bizarre that the default assumption , even on this panel, is that the UK actually has democracy. They never have.

    Trump? Nobel Peace Prize??? I don't remember ever hearing this, so I looked into it. He was nominated (twice) by a right wing Norwegian politician. (Rejected both times.) I learned that earlier in my academic career I could have nominated anyone I liked (university professors can nominate candidates), so a nomination is pretty meaningless.
