The second one is by far the easiest and quickest to learn. You maintain contact with the stick at all times and run much lower risk of dropping it. Mick Tucker, the drummer for Sweet was a master of that technique in the 70's and 80's.
no i disagree my fingers are so incredibly uncoordinated and thats the reason im a drummer because playing piano or any string instrument moves all my fingers instead of one
Depends on the size of the width and length of the window that covers the area also the thickness and material on the rim of the glass that fits into to the wall

Something that helped me immensely was spinning the opposite direction first. Just came much more natural. Once you get the rhythm down, the other direction was then easier. Also, minimizing the wrist movement helps once you get the hang of it, though it's still using some
2nd one, after the blisters, calluses, do it with both hands at the same time, same speed. Pretty cool, but Tommy Aldridge does 2 different spins, unique and amazing.
Thanks dude! Thanks to your explanation I made it to spin quite good in less than two days. As I started some 30 years ago I thought I never could spin sticks. I just restarted playing and got it now. Thumbs up 👍
Very cool and helpful. I’m fairly new to drumming and I’ve been doing the thing like when you have a coming and it goes between all you’re fingers, so thank you!
I learned how to twirl a drum stick but I wanted to learn the second one. Thanks for the tutorial you don't know how much I actually mean it! THANKS! :D
Isaac Kanyita Thought the only reply to this comment would be some inspirational jabber. Instead, it’s a Nelson “Ha ha”. Just the kind of reply I can appreciate.
Witch, witch, witch. Tip to anyone trying to do the second one though, you can use your other hand to help assist the drum stick by moving it in a clockwise motion. Great tutorial though, never knew the first onr
I'm not even a drummer, yet I've got a set of sticks that I can spin fkn fast as,all these ways and more. With both hands too. I know two drummers, who trip out when I show them. I started flicking pens and sticks when I was about 13,just out of boredom, now I'm like a pointless ninja.lol
Hey! The trick is to not squeeze the stick between the fingers, they should only offer support for the stick. You can try with a pen first, hold the pen the same as a drumstick and rock the tip of the pen up and down, by only moving your index finger. Once you can do this, try getting small circles going with the pen, then try with the stick. Hope this helps!
Buddy Rich once said, he didn't understand all the theatrics with spinning..he'd rather put that energy into better drumming performance. ".....you can't see spinning on a record, but you could hear the drumming"
Learnt the 2nd one in half a minute. Thanks buddy. The first one is a bit harder. Does this thing has some practical purpose or is it just to look cool?
The first method just changes position of the stick in my hand, it doesn't move beyond basically pointing parallel with my arm. The second method it just flops it around in one direction.
It's weird cause I see other drummers spinning their sticks and I think "there must be another way than I'm doing it". I learned to spin it around my middle finger using my index and ring fingers
Hi all, thank you so much for all your amazing feedback, it's great to see you all trying and having fun. Keep practising! - Alex

Wesley Anderson I’m British, it’s practising here 😄

Remember everyone it takes practice

You probably shouldn't be using a ✏️.. lol
It's just too light..
The first one is called a thumb around and it works on pencils and pens I have mastered the thumb around

I've been doing the second method for years and I don't even know how I started. The first one is stupid hard for me, but this helps. Thanks!

Sameee
the first one is similar to the classic pen spin.
Yeah I've already learned that from pen spin videos
it is the thumbaround *(classic pen spin)*
Lil Zen oh i thought it was called a thumbroll
Thumbaround
This really helped me thankyou
I find the first one impossible and the second one easy
Same here

2nd one is actually the easiest. You just have to move your wrist a little

I thought the first one was easy because that's what I do with my pen in class, but the second one is gonna take major practice on my part...
MIZN Did you learn how to do it
Sorry Sir but that's impossible
I was able to learn the second one in 20 secs thankyyuu so much
Legit did this with my pen
Thats actually possible, i make it all the time :D
i dropped the drumstick on mah foot >:I
try poking your eye with it, that hurts more. _from personal experience_
Ikr all the time i did it it was falling and sometimes they almost hit my feet but I didnt
I got bored at a restaurant and decided to learn this with my straw
We didn’t have TH-cam in the seventies. We had to learn this stuff on our own.

the second one is my favorite but I tried to learn the first one on my drumstick.
and I realized now the 2nd one is like an illusion.
Very interresting!😂

Great!! I think this will help my arthritis in my hands.. now all i have to do is cajole a stick from my drummer bro.. or maybe amazon!
I really want to play drums but I cant afford it. Yesterday when we are cleaning I found a drumstick and here I am.

Just to look cool!

Thanks this really helped I had no idea how to do this
John Bonham used to spin a stick while still playing with all 3 other limbs
Cool tommy lee
I do the last one with my pencil all the time and I just learned that by myself
The drummer from the Sweet always was doing this in clips..
I actually wanna learn this since this is a thing they do in UAE culture.
Imagine doing the first one to switch to the lead and the eraser
TurboZ look up the twisted sonic move for pencil spinning and I use it to swap between led and the eraser and my friends think I’m a wizard
Thanks man nice vid
Life dream realized today. Thank you sir!
Nice video
Thanks now I know how to to it
Thank you brother❤️❤️❤️
I have my own way of spinning a stick and it took me hours to learn it
The Second one is so much easier for me for some reason
legend says only the rev can do the second method
I don't even have drumsticks... I use a piece of aluminium pipe 😆
Existential doubt: Why is it hot to see a guy spinning drum sticks in his fingers?
I don't have a drum stick and I wanted to pen flip I personally think the first one was the hardest
This is why I drum.
Awesome video
Im gonna go try it now!!!!
For the 2nd one the drumstick keeps either going up slowly or going down. Is there something i am doing wrong?
I know how to spin a balison, so i tried a trick helix arial but without the throwing and it worked somehow
Thank you this helped a lot!
The second way is far easier for me. If I used the first way, I'd have to have tons of sticks in my bag as I'd drop them every time.
Wow what a beautiful nasally voice! 👀
I liked the first one
very very nice
