This has to be one of my all-time favourite virtual trips! There is such a wide variety of stunning landscapes and against a backdrop of Mediterranean blue sky. I've loved every minute. Thank you to Rail Relaxation for bringing a Swedish summer into a cold, grey, wet UK. ❤
Yes! My homecountry! I hope there will be more cab rides from Sweden. FYI, the reason the train is going via Trollhättan is that all the catenary is curently being replaced. The phase between Stenungsund and Uddevalla is almost complete.
Thanks for the pleasant train journey. The detour led to the train traversing three railway lines instead of one (Norge-/Vänerbanan, Älvsborgsbanan, Bohusbanan). It's regrettable that the stretch from Strömstad to Norway wasn't constructed. The proposed railway bridge over the Iddefjord wasn't realized. However, the construction of the two Svinesund road bridges significantly facilitates Norway's border crossings into Sweden.
@heinerle456 I agree that the proposed railway bridge to continue the stretch to Norway would be very nice. I found the journey very interesting. This trio was my first railway trip to Sweden. I will definitely go back, who knows, during the winter.
Thank you for this video and for all infos given. Nice cab ride In a globally sunny day. From a Swedish cab rider, I know several rides in this country, but this one was unknown to me. Sweden has very beautiful landscapes and so far trees have always been, well, represented. Very nice views over the "Marina" at the end and as for the ferry, I found it, "very small" for this little CITY. Good week end for all.
@javierguidounicaud6621 Thank you for your comment. Sweden is a very nice country, on this trip it was a first time I had an opportunity to ride on their trains. Before I was always driving around. Very nice experience.
A beautiful Swedish line! I knew the Gothenburg-Stromstad route but only on paper. Why there is no direct connection to the Norwegian city of Halden or directly to Sarpsborg I have never understood. The line runs through the whole of Vastra-Gotaland, passing through the Gote Alv valley and runs there at full speed, then after Trollhattan it deviates and you can see the Swedish countryside mixed with rocks, woods and wheat fields. The arrival in the Stromstad bay is spectacular. One of the most beautiful videos! Congratulations on this Scandinavian trip! If you come back it would be nice to also do the Gothenburg Malmo or the line to Kalmar that runs through the woods! Thank you so much!
Hi David, thank you for the nice trip through Sweden. I've only been to the south of Sweden once so far. I didn't know this corner yet. Have a nice weekend and until the next trip. Best regards Axel 🙋🏼♂️
@AG-D647 Hi Axel, great. I am glad that you liked this journey. Actually, I did not know that corner before. I went just to Gothenburg before. I found the journey very interesting. So different for me. I wish you a nice weekend too and, until next journey!🙋🏼♂️
I used to drive the trains Gothenburg - Strömstad for six years up until last year. Always a nice drive! The locals were in general just happy that the trains were still running so basically any delay was just met with a smile and "no worries!". I Also had a tree fall over the catenary line in a snow storm, on the spot at 53:59. I came around the curve doing 90 km/h and seeing virtually nothing until it was just a hundred meters up ahead. That was the last of that nights driving. 😄 Had to evacuate to a bus and spend the night drying my socks and shoes on the radiator of a hotel room in Uddevalla instead of sleeping upstairs in the station house of Strömstad. A funny thing about Tanum. One of the dispatchers who regularly works the station is a real metalhead. Long hair, beard and always a band t-shirt of some sort*. Another funny dispatcher is a lady working in Strömstad. It is almost mandatory to have a coffee with her in the station house upon arrival. I also encountered the very lovable dog belonging to the dispatcher in Munkedal. The dog was quietly sleeping just below the signal board only to look up and come and great me as I entered the dispatchers office. A lot of great memories! :) *The train dispatchers in Sweden are not required to wear uniforms.
@Obeythebeard Hello, what a coincidence. It is great to read all the details about the line and the people working there. I hope that you were all ok after the snowstorm. I can imagine how freezing it must have been. Thank you for sharing your memories with us.
thanks for the great ride and bringing us to a new country! I liked the most the high speed part, keep em coming! on a side note, will you ever consider doing a ride from Paris to Marseille via the clasic line? it's super cool and there aren't many videos around
Thank you for a nice video. Are there trains along the whole Bohus Line? I guess that the High Speed via Trollhättan shorten the travel time to Uddevalla and onwards.
@Stefan_Boerjesson thank you. @FritiofRunmarker commented that the reason the train is going via Trollhättan is that all the catenary is currently being replaced. The phase between Stenungsund and Uddevalla is almost complete.
@@RailRelaxation Thanks. As busdriver up to Uddevalla I saw a lot of rusty masts. They upgraded that during a few months between Gothenburg and Borås but here it takes a lot more time...
The Öresundstog trainsets are wrongly labelled MF/ET X31K. The "ET" and "X31K" class designations are correct, but "MF" is not. MF is only used for the Danish IC3 trains which have a similar rubber-nose front, but are otherwise completely different. The Öresundstog trainsets are mainly based on the Bombardier Regina trains, but with an IC3 front part. The manufacturer named them "Contessa" to signifiy the relationship to the "Regina" trains.
I remember traveling on Oresund trains in early 2000s and they did look very much like IC3/IR4 trains, but now I realize they are really different - MF are articulated with Jacobs bogies between the cars, while ET/X31K has two standard bogies on each car, though this front "rubber nose" really makes it hard to see the difference as it's such a unique (and very clever) feature. Thank You for the correction. 👍
Please stop filling the screen with useless information. For God's sake, who cares which line goes where? We just want to watch the road, the surroundings. The speedometer is good.
Of course some of that info is interesting to some. I suppose he could put it in closed captions; then the viewer could have the option to turn on or off.

Nice. I hope you can return during the winter and catch the countryside wrapped in snow! Again thanks for this excellent channel of videos.

@the_Texas_Bandit Oh, that is a difficult question for me. I don't know.

Pretty interesting how they run a train at 90 kph on such (at least visually) poor-maintained track. :) I'm talking about single track part.
