Growing up on our farm in Louisiana, my Papaw and Dad raised Percheron mules. Can't beat that Percheron blood for a great working mindset. Beautiful team! From the characteristics/quirks you mentioned, it sounds like the previous owner was rough with them. Such a shame that some think being "mean" is needed with these gentle giants. It's just the opposite from my own experience. Papaw always said "Soft voices and soft hands build a better team". 😊 Sending love & best wishes from SoCO (southern Colorado) ❤️
Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s heartwarming to hear about the wisdom passed down from your Papaw. Gentle handling truly makes all the difference with these magnificent creatures.
Looks like a dang fine team of horses to me!! All that snorting will go away with regular work days. Someone is gonna have a really nice team with those two!!
So right about the pigs, never owned a horse that didn't spook when we came upon some pigs , when we showed quarter horses we always rode them down the country roads to give them a break from training all the time, it refreshed thier minds and kept them fresh, thanks for sharing ! nice team.
It's interesting how horses have such unique reactions to different animals! Riding them down the country roads sounds like a great way to keep them mentally fresh. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Rock solid team! I'm very impressed with their demeaner. They would be "safe" for any person of any experience level to drive. Happy Thanksgiving to the Haste Family and the Martin Family. God Bless. - ACD
That's a nice team of draft horses. Will make someone a good and stout team. They'd be pretty with roached mane since theirs looks a bit unkempt. Wishing you and Henry and families a Happy Thanksgiving!🦃
Steven du hast ja ein Anwesen was ich so gesehen hab. Steven der rechte zieht mehr wie der linke. Musst in mehr raus nehmen aus dem Zug und linken mehr treiben. Gruß Bernhard
Thanks for your insights, Bernhard! I appreciate your feedback on the techniques. Adjusting the harnessing and driving methods can definitely make a difference!
Ladies and Gents, this team needs a patient hand and time. I won't go as far as to say the team was abused, but the former owner was 'rough' with them. If I were to venture to guess, there were Amish horses. Hard to catch? Don't force them. Walk in the box with a carrot or apple. Be patient and let them come to you. Trust me, they will meet you at the door in time, anxious to say hello. Coco spooks a little when harnessed. Go slow. Talk to him softly as you harness him. Give Coco a carrot, sugar cube, or apple. He'll learn he can trust you and settle down. The same goes for them in traffic. The more you use them, the better they will get. Expose them to traffic and machinery. Show them that they aren't in danger and that you won't hurt them. In a year, this team can be as good as the Dapples in that corn harvest video. This is a good, solid team; they don't spook and work well together. All they need is a patient teamster, a farrier, and a bath! I wish to hell I had a place to keep them.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Patience and kindness really do make all the difference with these amazing animals. It’s heartwarming to see them thrive with the right care!
If they snort some so does my wife now and then I had a team of Persian mares the minute she opened the Barn door they started to snort but you can get in around them harness them walk up in their stalls it never went away they always snorted so don't let that bother you on this beautiful team of horses
Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s always reassuring to hear from fellow horse lovers about their journeys and the quirks that come with them.
Nice pair as for their mane just keep it comb it will grow and be ok.long tails and long manes. Don't like roached manes. Got cold here in N.C. always.Have a blessed week
Very very difficult. No one wants to do drafts. They refuse to. We got a young boy we’re using now and we are sending him to farrier school and he is going to work for us full time.
@@HasteDraftHorsesandMules I understand. That's exactly what I was wondering about. I asked myself, why don't you have your own, always available farrier? All the best!
draft horses do not start to mature til 6 -you are asking too much -rushing them-I have crosses and I know-you are rushing theses horses -they are grumpy and pushed -shame on you for lack of research and knowledge
Well this is a question I can not answer because I know the truth and I’ll just say you do it your way I’ll do it mine ! Thank you so much for your time and watching. God Bless you

Thank you for your thoughts! I totally agree-regular grooming is essential for healthy manes and tails. Hope you have a great week too!
How difficult is it in your area to find a decent farrier?
Very very difficult. No one wants to do drafts. They refuse to. We got a young boy we’re using now and we are sending him to farrier school and he is going to work for us full time.

@@debrabish1494 so you don't start your horses till they're 6 year old
@@HasteDraftHorsesandMules I'd like to see her horses compared to yours
May she should put out some videos
Have you seen the 2 year olds and 3 year olds he's had? They act fine. Every horse is different he's patient with this team and doing what he should.
Thank ya Wyoming Girl. I sure appreciate you. Come see us sometime. You’re always welcome here. God Bless you (606) 303-5669
