Frost is gonna be insane with mage-lock (destro or aff). They have their usual slows and polies, plus the tanky and evasive toolkit they are known for. But now frost is going to be a sustain damage cannon, dealing immense spikes of damage without any cooldowns attached. The shadowlands change to make crits full value in PvP again, is a gigantic buff to frost mages, as their main mechanic is critting all the time. Also their damage conduits are insane, buffing ice lance and frozen orb by a whopping 40%. And the legendary allows flurry and frostbolt to summon a free frozen orb every 8 casts. All this totals to frost dealing insane damage, single target or AoE. Combined with destro moving to a similar style as well, losing most of the things that made the bfa 2.5min burst cancer happen. But instead gaining a lot of reliable sustain damage with buffed fire spells, reworked shadow burn, and their covenant abilities. Also chaosbolts benefit from the crit change massively, making them hit 30% max hp easily. So except mage-lock to remain top tier, with everything that made it strong in BFA, but more consistent and less cooldown reliant.
You should really change the title to emphasize this is a frost mage guide. Arcane has always been my favorite and its what I'm going to stick with going into Shadowlands. I was expecting a general mage guide here that covered all specs, but the thumbnail and title are just misleading.
I think that as long as both fire and arcane are viable specs, you should take the time to go over them aswell, there are alot of people that are interested in a specific spec rather then the "best" spec of a given class(as long as the other specs are good aswell ofc)

I know it requires a bit of setup, but Radiant Spark followed by a Flurry + 2 Ice Lances is pretty great. Also, the Covenant Ability to remove Poisons, Bleeds and Curses + Heal is pretty nice compared to a Teleport that has a cast time and very limited range.
Completley disagree that fire doesnt have enough damage, when paired with kirian ability radiant spark the burst you can create with short combust spec dwarfs anything the other two specs are capable of and instant cast damage outside of combust every 30s with radiant spark is significant enough to create a lot of pressure when playing with a rogue. Sure i think fire will have alot less viable comps other than pure 100-0 setup comps like RMP but played right it is going to be super strong as well. A high skill Sub/Fire/Disc team is going to literally delete people.
Curious as to why Lonely Winter is the pick in the 1st row. Is the damage really that much better? In the video the Frost mages fighting all are using their elementals.
The guy who they asked to make the guide is maro, so probably maro preferred lonely winter,. Whilst the mage they are showing in the video is venruki who play frost mage all the time in beta in his stream using elemental.

I'm a mage main I can play all specs of course, but frost best. I got pretty good with fire during the time I played BFA. I like that it's not gonna be the same spec that's gonna be good in back to back expansions for pvp that's boring. I kinda thought it was gonna be arcane's turn in PVP, but I guess not.

For the sake of completeness and not everyone watching every video? Also, not all classes can be Humans/Orcs, such as druid, priest (no orc), shaman (no human), paladin (no orc)
I don't understand why human is the best for mage. Human's passive only removes stun. Stun can be removed with blink as well, or something changed since I played wow last time (in Draenor)
@@andrzej703 Mage has a new talent called shimmer that you always take. The talent gives you two charges of blink and lets you blink while casting, but it removes the ability to remove stuns with blink.

This is actually outdated for the reason being that Siphoned Malice got nerfed to the ground and now gives 2% spell power per mirror consumed,also how why play lonely winter,how are we gonna shatter frostbolts if we have nothing to help us against being trained?
Ehhhhh I think arcane is without question better in pvp right now with PoM change. Radiant spark, touch of the magi has a conduit increasing its damage. A legendary that turns barrage into an execute. Still get temporal shield as well as alter time.....
They are the most optimal yes, if you're pushing high rating you should be human or orc but you don't have to, you'll be at a disadvantage but play the race you like the most.
Mage is incredibly bursty, meanwhile a guy on video is free casting 5 minutes in arena and priest health ,aldough he sits in middle like a target dummy, doesnt move less than 80%. Game is gonna get again to freaking dampening and depened on it wich means you have easly flow of 10 minutes of start of game doing nothing. GG nothing has changed and game is still bad since end of WOTLK. And yeah still nobody cares about 2s. Game is easly played only by new players and players that earn money by streaming. As for ppl that played pervious expansions game, pvp wise, is same old. People will come back just for abit and leave even sooner they came.

INdeed and mages have 0 heals at all so one heal is def needed if we do not want to be killed in stuns like BFA

Shimmer is better than blink due to people LoSing your spells and being able to follow them without interrupting your cast.

Mages use shimmer which prevents them from blinking out of stuns.
