Hey guys, we noticed plenty of comments about a handful of missing specs and people not agreeing with some of the rankings here. We intentionally left out the specs that do not perform well in PvP and also ranked the specs in this video based on how quickly players can jump onto any of them and play at glad level. Also keep in mind that just because a spec has more tools (mage), it doesn't automatically make them easy - in fact it's quite the opposite, with more tools generally making a class harder to play. Hope this clears up some of the confusion!
then make the title "easiest Class to play in Shadowlands PVP" I spent some time here waiting for my favorite specs and since I don't pvp this then doesn't apply to me and I wouldn't have clicked but otherwise helpful information I assume for other wow players more interested in pvp.

I mean if you're going to make an 18 minute video, you may as well make it 20 minutes and include every spec (Holy Priest, BM Hunter, Demo Lock, Outlaw Rogue, Fury Warrior). Aside from that, nice video with a good explanation that this is talking about the skill FLOOR of each spec!

@@jack--hunt demos main dmg is from multiple pets, bm is in cuz they use only one and still do a lot with autos. Holy is way too hard casty, they do decent in 2s but without haste corruption they'll be completely outclassed by every other healer. Outlaws main dmg is a stun. You have to unchained stun DR your kill target to deal optimal dps, that should speak for itself, if it doesn't, assa needs one stun and sub can triple dr instantly. Also tanks LULW. Did I miss any?
@@HairCutsEmo I do not agree about the holy priest being too hard casty, they literally have so many options for instant cast, with pvp talents improving them like PoM, shield, all holy words and more, potential for double serenity, PoM 10% heal per bounce. In addition to this they have more cc options than disc with chastise. And apotheosis reset all holy words for even more cc and instant heals. Other than this the potential legendary that can cheat death. And mentioning too hard casty with resto shaman being an option come on
I’m not sure about Sp placement in moderate, would lean more towards easy... but also for destruction, in Slands yes I’d say easy. But destro had a decent skill cap just in pet swapping and positioning alone in BFA.
I literally search this out every time I come back. I get to about level 40 on everything g and quit because too many buttons. Im old and have a day job. 😆
updated actual tier list pls? the last one you uploaded seems pretty outdated now. It'd be nice to have one around these days and another til the end of nov? hopefully the exp gets a new release date by then. Good insights here though I might level up my hpaly, its just that it seemed the weakest healer atm.
He did use the word ”viable” in many cases. Ofc this is his personal opinion and everyone has a different list due to personal preference, interest and skill that contributes to each and every players own viability per spec.
Only hard class compere to others in game to play in PvP is Elemental Shaman closely followed by Mage. Speaking of SL pre-patch. Holy Paladin easy? Right. Gl casting those hard cast heals, rotate something wrong and your gone quickly. Worse healing in game currently. How about Disc Priest? Two school of heals, great defensives, nice damage. Mindcontrol cheese. Mass Dispel. Easiest and more beneficial healer by far is a Disc Priest. I rolled a Disc Priest as Main Hpal and I find it a lot easier to deal with things might change when we get more borrowed power.
To the SkillCapped Team, for topics such as this, you really ought to consider making your tier criteria more objective and robust. What is easiest really based on? E.g., a class may be tougher to manage simply because of the number of buttons required to be proficient. Simply saying that a class has a "high-skill floor" or one is "easy to pick up and play" doesn't cut it. You can improve these reviews :)
They explain it all throughout the video I thought... e.g. holy paladin has oh crap save abilities (easy) while mistweaver has to kite (moderate). Also, I'm not sure I understand what you are saying about buttons, b/c I don't recall them making that argument. Are you suggesting that ranking by the number of buttons is a way for them to improve? It certainly seems to me that buttons is a more superficial metric. They do not "simply say high skill floor" Friend, they just got done explaining why it's a high skill floor, why you choose to ignore all of it? e.g.mage having to kite and cc and be vulnerable to interrupts.
@@addlemm44 It's like taking a course assignment. An instructor needs to have a rubric with which he will grade the assignment. Otherwise, his grading is subjective and not really clear. Have certain categories for what makes a class easy or hard or medium. Get it? This way it's better and more objective.

I believe that feral should also be on the list of difficult ones. Also, like a sub, you need to СС many targets.Assist and heal mates.And with BT talent is not easy to perform big damage but rewarded
Yup for feral and is the only mele class that dont do dmg when it goes in to defens. And we dosent have any bubble or defensive that making as immune to skills or stuns. And without haste build casting cyclone is quite difficult with 1.4s cast time.
They are both quite simple to play. They are both good PvP specs, with alot og comps to choose. I played both, and i think ret is slightly easier, while having Better survivability. Where armd might have slightly more mobility. So i think its Up to you, what sounds most exciting 😉
I think war will be a better choice (i use to play ret but gonna drop it). Ret have very bad mobility, so top players complained about it. In response Blizz gave us more damage & more healing (wich is absolutly not what was asked), and now they are already nerfing damage without any compensation. Ret will be C or D tiers during SL at this point
Just started playing a sub rogue and honestly I feel like they’re much easier than a UHDK. Keeping Slice and advice active with Rupture is hardly asking much, the rest is popping 3-4 CDs simultaneously with orc racial for meta. The AoE rotation is almost laughably easy. You could argue with the CC and utility of the rogue class in general it can have a very high ceiling of skill, but the overall rotation is simple imo.
just more buttons and the fact rogues take a shit ton more damage with far less recovery. With dk you at least can death strike back your health and kite with chains. Rogue without cds is dick out in the cold
Truth Time TV you can’t kite with chains vs basically anything other than warrior. Unh rotation and resource management is way more complex, not evening mentioning proper pet use. I really only think mes is the only dk who plays unh to its full potential because it’s so unintuitive in many ways; the thing about unh is that it’s damage recently has been tuned to come from passive sources so you actually rely a lot on team mates for kill windows rather than your individual skill showing damage wise (the skill is in using all the cc well, much like old sub). I do think sub rogue still is also very complex so they should be same tier.
I think that I would have put Arms in the Easy section. Even with their tools, it's not a difficult spec to pick up. The most difficult part is probably being patient and making sure you have enough rage to burst when you have the opportunity. Arms does enough damage to force defensives, so they aren't wholly reliant on their teammate creating those burst windows.
Just boosted a fury warrior and am loving it. Always played caster mostly and some melee but warrior is really fun. I feel like a true orc. Now I just need a mag har orc or whatever it is lol. Just started playing again quit very early in bfa
This video is weird just because you have utility doesn’t make you class harder. What makes a class hard is how easy it is to die, how easy the rotation is to get off and how strong your class is
You can do this yourself. Open your game menu, go to interface > names > check personal resource display > check show special resource on target or something > uncheck show person resource display. Not in-game so paraphrasing what the options are called. Let me know if this helped!
As someone who plays around 2400 mmr in RBGs, we wouldn't think twice between choosing a aff lock over and spriest. They go great hand in hand though. The slow on the whole enemy team from aff lock is invaluable.

They changed that a long time ago as you cant do anything while los, also now that hunter pet rez is 4seconds and pets are squishy the spec doesn't really deserve to be trash tier. Did destro lock / sin rogue/ firemage / dh etc have to really play the game all of bfa?
@@derrickpiwish9468 you actually explained why the spec is trash for PvP right there. Squishy pet as main damage source with long ress CD that can be LoSd. The spec is great for PvE though, so there's that.
Informative video for what was there, but why were so many specs left out? Demo locks, holy priests, outlaw rogues, bm hunters, and fury warriors were all not covered...
Hey i had encha in wod but after pruning the rotation in legion it was so simple that i get bored with it. Did they make it more utility wide. Or its same boring?
@@boltman1195 But mages have iceblock x2 if u are frost, arcane has like 3 blinks, warlocks have 1 defensive CD. i was thinking about surviving, as arcane u can survive way easier than an affliction warlock. Still doenst make sence arcane is harder than affliction. just imo
@@El-Plan Affliction is the hardest out of the 3 specs and should be higher yes. Fire is the only spec that doesn't have 3 schools of magic to choose from. The other two specs are predominantly one school. It's better now that there's more abilities to use but even so. Warlocks have pets in all specs, fear and shadow fury. As a cloth user your health is ridiculous. So much more tanky, less mobile yes but it adds up. Fear is controversial.
@@7781296 well I can tell you as an unholy Dk, you’re completely wrong about macros. The global is a huge problem. And has been since most abilities for most classes have been put on the global. The only things that can go on a macro are trinkets, racials, and defensives. All of which have different cool downs so unless you want to sit on your trinkets while your other stuff cools down, macros are not going to play your class for you.
@@skahg8695 cast sequence macros can do an entire rotation for you, I have one for an opener for sub rogue single target. It’s one button on a cast sequence so you just have to spam the one button
I think it's a bit unfair to put casters and melees in separate lists, because every caster tier is like 2 tiers above their respective melee tier. Besides maybe sub which can be really confusing with the burst rotation and perfect stunlocks at the same time.
Ehmm no. As a caster and melee there are separate things that is vital for you to be good at it but you can’t just come with the claim that casters is 2 tiers above and not even explain it lol
@@kluasvt828 casters need to master the mind games of fake casting, otherwise they will be locked out of doing damage basically forever, especially in 3s vs a melee cleave. As a melee you just go with your rotation and ocassionally get CCed, but it is much easier to have a high uptime than as a caster that can get perma stopped from casting when melees sit on him. Besides playing a caster usually requires some form of kiting which is harder to do than just trying to stay on target as a melee. Sure, each class and spec plays differently, but I think that these things are common. I've played a bit of RMP last season on both a mage and a rogue and it was just so much easier to do damage as a rogue, above 1800cr it was basically impossible to get a single greater pyro out with 2 melees on me.
@@michasokoowski5592 well melees need to master the mind game of fake casting too, just the other way around. You have to be good at kicking, realizing when he is fake casting or when he is actually real casting else they will just fake you all the time. Not a whole lot of casters need to kite all that much in 3s since they cant deal damage and run, but if you think melee has an easy time just sticking to your opponent, that is a wrong general rule. I have played warrior for years in arena and against frostmage/healer or ele/healer i have to constantly think about how i use my 1 charge and 1 leap to get close. 20% of the game is just them kiting. As for the RMP, with full haste stacking corr (dont know if you had) GP would still be somewhat doable to use, but i would have advised you not to run GP at all. Many high MMR fire mages ran other talents if they knew they were getting trained and that is that problem solved. Furthermore, if the 2 melees are just training you, your rogue can have all the fun in the world with their healer and your healer is free to play as he like. Both Melee and Ranged have a lot of things to always keep in consideration, so i still stand by my point that casters are not 2 tiers above their respective melee tier
Like DK Frost, it's kind of depressing to be considered the "easiest" Spec. Even worse if people see it and end up pushing the buttons like crazy and ignoring the rotation that is just as easy to counter.
Meanwhile destro lock getting trained rn can’t get a cast off and just dies but fire mage has about 90000 ways to get away from people. Ya fire mage hard haha combust go brrrrrr.
@@paulod.candeias9442 I'm a disc priest. And I've combust pops you either has a couple gcds to throw major defenses or try to grind through at least 4 or 5 buffs mage always has, and this is given you purged all the other things he has prior
Imo making a list for X patch is only about the current meta/balance. I can’t see rdruid being hard in the long run. From wd in tbc being faceroll to rmd in mop to... Imo what matters for people looking to play something is more about them being interested in ‘going deep’. If you ask me (obv bias inc) disc priest has been the most fun class overall, even when undertuned. E.g. when mw is at the bottom he has no tools to compensate, disc has more than enough, and in seasons when it was in scuba diving mode, you could still do something by playing smart with rogue and/or mage. Even though at high mmr it was not that fun due to numbers disparity with other healers.
I’m teetering on the edge of uhdk sub rogue and spriest. Just came back after 2 year break and they all look so enticing. I don’t know if I wanna sweat so bad as sub rogue though lol

why? in my opinion both could have a lot of keybinds for Arena1,Arena2,Arena3, even for your teammates because both have a lot of support and utility and thinking about that at the same time as doing damage its not easy, what bothers me is that they are in the same spot as Warriors, and warriors dont even have that many macros or keybinds, not many things to think about just dont die and try to do damage basically
Its been nerfed bad. Atleast to how it was in legion, dh has to rely more on skill and having better armor since the loss of azerite. Or unless you got some good anima powers
I'm a highly casual 1400-1600 pvper so i don't know which of Fire mage or Aff lock is harder to masterize at higher ranking but i have a way harder time to play Aff lock in arenas. Fire mage might be harder to masterize but it's so powerful i find it more easy to get things going with it. You basically have to die 3 times to really die. You have strong shields. Super high burst that the other team must respect when it's off CD. As an Aff lock it's very hard to get a killing blow. You have to maintain dots specially UA. Also it's 100% false to say the spec insta cast. Agony and Corruption are not worth much without UA on. You got the cast UA to keep it on and also Fear and obviously MR. It's super hard to stay alive without a hpal you have to kite perfectly against a melee cleave or else a priest or druid wont keep you alive for long. You present absolutely no danger to the other team outside of dampening. Before dampening you'll mostly disrupt the other team (slow, stun, fear, dispel prevention, ...) and help to keep your team alive. But no melee cleave will let you do that they'll train you all day long until you got nothing left to kite and at that point pray your hpal is able to keep you up. Fire mage is a more complicated version of BFA destruction. The bust is so dangerous anyone from the other team stuck in the middle can die any time when Combustion is up so the other team must respect that and can't simply chase you mindlessly in the open.
Also I don't believe DH is classified in the Easy category anymore. They are now forced to have setup up unbound chaos I call that a skill shot. Also to do more dmg they have to spec right and with that spec they have more buttons to press to actually setup their dmg now. Big change in category I believe
@@miramalverick2767 offensively yeah, but DH also gets handed free defense and doesn't get easily punished for being an idiot... easily runs away from bad choices, blur always up. MMs will get trained every single game which, imo, is the most difficult aspect of arena (getting focused and still doing things while not dying). that being said, id be happy with both of them being unplayably bad in arena
y becouse mage is rly hard to play. They all see only the Sheep CC Chain and combust, but this is only the go. Outside from the go is the moment where the most mages fail and struggle much more as other. I mean he is rly easy to kick, purge, dispel and so much capcloser are in the game right now. Believe me, to be a good mage is much more difficualt as every other caster and melee(ok maybe sub is the biggest one). They see only the perfect Setups. But if a sheep get kicked or the focus trinket, you can not burst him down and you need rly to wait for the next setup. Other combs or classes neednt to watch on DR fulltime and can kill someone everytime. They are all loosers they hate Mage becouse if he beats you, it looks like he trolling you and have a easy time.

nope rog is just bad with melee in 3s, there arent the easiest comps, only viable ones, depending on your rating

thought ret pal is the easiest one since the class itself allows you to make mistakes with addition of self heals for 50%+ of hp
This is my first expansion and I main ret pally. And yes I agree I make so many mistakes that I am able to get away with because I just heal myself

They are probably mostly based on outplay capabilities, those with most outplay potential tend to be the most difficult

Yup for feral and is the only mele class that dont do dmg when it goes in to defens. And we dosent have any bubble or defensive that making as immune to skills or stuns. And without haste build casting cyclone is quite difficult with 1.4s cast time.

They are both quite simple to play. They are both good PvP specs, with alot og comps to choose. I played both, and i think ret is slightly easier, while having Better survivability. Where armd might have slightly more mobility. So i think its Up to you, what sounds most exciting 😉
I think war will be a better choice (i use to play ret but gonna drop it). Ret have very bad mobility, so top players complained about it. In response Blizz gave us more damage & more healing (wich is absolutly not what was asked), and now they are already nerfing damage without any compensation. Ret will be C or D tiers during SL at this point
Just started playing a sub rogue and honestly I feel like they’re much easier than a UHDK. Keeping Slice and advice active with Rupture is hardly asking much, the rest is popping 3-4 CDs simultaneously with orc racial for meta. The AoE rotation is almost laughably easy. You could argue with the CC and utility of the rogue class in general it can have a very high ceiling of skill, but the overall rotation is simple imo.
just more buttons and the fact rogues take a shit ton more damage with far less recovery. With dk you at least can death strike back your health and kite with chains. Rogue without cds is dick out in the cold
Truth Time TV you can’t kite with chains vs basically anything other than warrior. Unh rotation and resource management is way more complex, not evening mentioning proper pet use. I really only think mes is the only dk who plays unh to its full potential because it’s so unintuitive in many ways; the thing about unh is that it’s damage recently has been tuned to come from passive sources so you actually rely a lot on team mates for kill windows rather than your individual skill showing damage wise (the skill is in using all the cc well, much like old sub). I do think sub rogue still is also very complex so they should be same tier.

I think that I would have put Arms in the Easy section. Even with their tools, it's not a difficult spec to pick up. The most difficult part is probably being patient and making sure you have enough rage to burst when you have the opportunity. Arms does enough damage to force defensives, so they aren't wholly reliant on their teammate creating those burst windows.
The skill from warrior comes from using utility efficiently imo

You can do this yourself. Open your game menu, go to interface > names > check personal resource display > check show special resource on target or something > uncheck show person resource display. Not in-game so paraphrasing what the options are called. Let me know if this helped!

As someone who plays around 2400 mmr in RBGs, we wouldn't think twice between choosing a aff lock over and spriest. They go great hand in hand though. The slow on the whole enemy team from aff lock is invaluable.

Warlocks are alot more tanky than mages, people always complain about the rotation. Think in all aspects.
@@boltman1195 But mages have iceblock x2 if u are frost, arcane has like 3 blinks, warlocks have 1 defensive CD. i was thinking about surviving, as arcane u can survive way easier than an affliction warlock. Still doenst make sence arcane is harder than affliction. just imo
@@El-Plan Affliction is the hardest out of the 3 specs and should be higher yes. Fire is the only spec that doesn't have 3 schools of magic to choose from. The other two specs are predominantly one school. It's better now that there's more abilities to use but even so. Warlocks have pets in all specs, fear and shadow fury.
As a cloth user your health is ridiculous. So much more tanky, less mobile yes but it adds up. Fear is controversial.

Everything’s easy in PvE. You can literally make a one button macro that plays your class for you.

@@7781296 well I can tell you as an unholy Dk, you’re completely wrong about macros. The global is a huge problem. And has been since most abilities for most classes have been put on the global. The only things that can go on a macro are trinkets, racials, and defensives. All of which have different cool downs so unless you want to sit on your trinkets while your other stuff cools down, macros are not going to play your class for you.
@@skahg8695 cast sequence macros can do an entire rotation for you, I have one for an opener for sub rogue single target. It’s one button on a cast sequence so you just have to spam the one button

I think it's a bit unfair to put casters and melees in separate lists, because every caster tier is like 2 tiers above their respective melee tier. Besides maybe sub which can be really confusing with the burst rotation and perfect stunlocks at the same time.
Ehmm no. As a caster and melee there are separate things that is vital for you to be good at it but you can’t just come with the claim that casters is 2 tiers above and not even explain it lol
@@kluasvt828 casters need to master the mind games of fake casting, otherwise they will be locked out of doing damage basically forever, especially in 3s vs a melee cleave. As a melee you just go with your rotation and ocassionally get CCed, but it is much easier to have a high uptime than as a caster that can get perma stopped from casting when melees sit on him. Besides playing a caster usually requires some form of kiting which is harder to do than just trying to stay on target as a melee. Sure, each class and spec plays differently, but I think that these things are common. I've played a bit of RMP last season on both a mage and a rogue and it was just so much easier to do damage as a rogue, above 1800cr it was basically impossible to get a single greater pyro out with 2 melees on me.
@@michasokoowski5592 well melees need to master the mind game of fake casting too, just the other way around. You have to be good at kicking, realizing when he is fake casting or when he is actually real casting else they will just fake you all the time. Not a whole lot of casters need to kite all that much in 3s since they cant deal damage and run, but if you think melee has an easy time just sticking to your opponent, that is a wrong general rule. I have played warrior for years in arena and against frostmage/healer or ele/healer i have to constantly think about how i use my 1 charge and 1 leap to get close. 20% of the game is just them kiting.
As for the RMP, with full haste stacking corr (dont know if you had) GP would still be somewhat doable to use, but i would have advised you not to run GP at all. Many high MMR fire mages ran other talents if they knew they were getting trained and that is that problem solved. Furthermore, if the 2 melees are just training you, your rogue can have all the fun in the world with their healer and your healer is free to play as he like. Both Melee and Ranged have a lot of things to always keep in consideration, so i still stand by my point that casters are not 2 tiers above their respective melee tier
Like DK Frost, it's kind of depressing to be considered the "easiest" Spec. Even worse if people see it and end up pushing the buttons like crazy and ignoring the rotation that is just as easy to counter.
Meanwhile destro lock getting trained rn can’t get a cast off and just dies but fire mage has about 90000 ways to get away from people. Ya fire mage hard haha combust go brrrrrr.
You can cleanse/steal combust and just stun the mage and just los so :P

Imo making a list for X patch is only about the current meta/balance. I can’t see rdruid being hard in the long run. From wd in tbc being faceroll to rmd in mop to... Imo what matters for people looking to play something is more about them being interested in ‘going deep’. If you ask me (obv bias inc) disc priest has been the most fun class overall, even when undertuned. E.g. when mw is at the bottom he has no tools to compensate, disc has more than enough, and in seasons when it was in scuba diving mode, you could still do something by playing smart with rogue and/or mage. Even though at high mmr it was not that fun due to numbers disparity with other healers.

why? in my opinion both could have a lot of keybinds for Arena1,Arena2,Arena3, even for your teammates because both have a lot of support and utility and thinking about that at the same time as doing damage its not easy, what bothers me is that they are in the same spot as Warriors, and warriors dont even have that many macros or keybinds, not many things to think about just dont die and try to do damage basically

I'm a highly casual 1400-1600 pvper so i don't know which of Fire mage or Aff lock is harder to masterize at higher ranking but i have a way harder time to play Aff lock in arenas. Fire mage might be harder to masterize but it's so powerful i find it more easy to get things going with it. You basically have to die 3 times to really die. You have strong shields. Super high burst that the other team must respect when it's off CD. As an Aff lock it's very hard to get a killing blow. You have to maintain dots specially UA. Also it's 100% false to say the spec insta cast. Agony and Corruption are not worth much without UA on. You got the cast UA to keep it on and also Fear and obviously MR. It's super hard to stay alive without a hpal you have to kite perfectly against a melee cleave or else a priest or druid wont keep you alive for long. You present absolutely no danger to the other team outside of dampening. Before dampening you'll mostly disrupt the other team (slow, stun, fear, dispel prevention, ...) and help to keep your team alive. But no melee cleave will let you do that they'll train you all day long until you got nothing left to kite and at that point pray your hpal is able to keep you up. Fire mage is a more complicated version of BFA destruction. The bust is so dangerous anyone from the other team stuck in the middle can die any time when Combustion is up so the other team must respect that and can't simply chase you mindlessly in the open.

Also I don't believe DH is classified in the Easy category anymore. They are now forced to have setup up unbound chaos I call that a skill shot. Also to do more dmg they have to spec right and with that spec they have more buttons to press to actually setup their dmg now. Big change in category I believe

I think hybrid range dps is harder than mage and locks.. cause they also support with of heals dispels alot more makros and keybinds.

MMs will get trained every single game which, imo, is the most difficult aspect of arena (getting focused and still doing things while not dying). that being said, id be happy with both of them being unplayably bad in arena

I always wondered why my mage was getting its ass whooped in pvp...
y becouse mage is rly hard to play. They all see only the Sheep CC Chain and combust, but this is only the go. Outside from the go is the moment where the most mages fail and struggle much more as other. I mean he is rly easy to kick, purge, dispel and so much capcloser are in the game right now. Believe me, to be a good mage is much more difficualt as every other caster and melee(ok maybe sub is the biggest one). They see only the perfect Setups. But if a sheep get kicked or the focus trinket, you can not burst him down and you need rly to wait for the next setup. Other combs or classes neednt to watch on DR fulltime and can kill someone everytime. They are all loosers they hate Mage becouse if he beats you, it looks like he trolling you and have a easy time.
