The pictures of Queen Elizabeth II during her tour of Nigeria (1956) are good. She visited several parts of the country. A short book about her tour with as many photographs as can be found would be a useful historical document.
Taxation was resisted in the South particularly because the European used to pay taxes to the chief & kings of Niger delta before the British through trade & evangelism colonised Southern Nigeria.
Is it a fact that there were no kings in Eastern Nigeria? Naivety is why one might accept an account that does not tell the actual story.. Onitsha with its Obi, Arondizuogu, and Aguleri were kingdoms And if their reach were not widespread in Eastern Nigeria and conducive to the purposes of the British colonialists , that is just too bad for them, why make it your narrative . Fact checking is a thing .

Nigeria hasn't changed that much since that time. The Brits are still ruling us indirectly.
Indirect rule, I remember studying the concept in details as a study of political science back in college
Always educative coming here.
Another fabulously resourced and articulately narrated video. This is without doubt my most favourite Nigerian TH-cam channel.
Wow, thank you.

Nice channel
Thanks.
Indirect rule is why the British became so successful I think 🤔 they were only in Nigeria for a short time and it seems to have worked out OK?
However, indirect rule did not work in the East.
Somebody is ruling Nigeria. Tinubu is proving that.

Totally agree with you.
We will never forget or forgive the crimes against humanity and genocide slavery committed against our people by the evil British Empire
Indirect rule- I tell you this is the beginning of corruption and failure of Nigeria state.
