  • I have reached a point in my life where I am living in Turkey and only working a few weeks a year, It was suggested to me that I share my experiences and life experiences as it may help others, not just in buying a house in Turkey but making life choices and understanding why we do the things we do..
This video is the intro and why I chose Turkey, there will be video's to follow to show how I was able to afford it and what drove me to go this way...

Loved watching this. Once you meet Turkish people, they have your heart forever. Its an amazing country with amazing people. If I could be reincarnated, I'd love to be Turkish. My family think I'm slightly mad when I go on about how wonderful everything is over there so it is so nice to watch someone from the UK who understands. Thank you for this video.

Thank you-great video. I am Danish been living here in turkey for 19 years and I agree with you, the culture is fantastic, people are very nice and friendly and I just love their mentality- life is not about money but about community, being a part of something bigger- this is turkey, we don' have a lot of money but we got a lot of time. My love for Turkey just grows every day.

Love it, you are so right, Turkey and it’s people are just so beautiful.
We lived in Dalyan for years and LOVED it. We waited 10 years for our first Grandchild and that was it we sold up and headed back to the U.K. My husband is happy to be with his boys but my heart is still in Turkey. We did visit as many times a years as we could however this past year was No Go and I really, really miss the most wonderful country and its people.
    Thanks for sharing

I myself have come a lot on holiday in marmaris and have what I gradually saw as many Turkish friends, whom I now call my Turkish family. The conversations with Turks are always interesting and rewarding and it is true, it is never about financial status

Your voice is therapy; so calm and sweet. Anyhow, you're spot on about the people and culture. I'm an expat from US, living with my Turkish husband & step son in Gemlik for 8 years. I love my home, so I stay in it most of the time; not much for socializing. But the people are exactly as you have described. I feel a pleasant peace here that you cannot find state side. I love this place. (Warning against allowing yourself to get caught up in anything political if you wish to keep your head about you) 💞

The pay might be higher in the states and other places but most of us cant afford to live... I'm a single mother and full time farmer and can not afford renting a home. And all the things most Americans have to pay for. I prefer to live simply and as a spiritual person who only cares for helping people and making the world a better place, I wont do jobs that carry negative karma either. So I'm hoping to go and do my community projects and farming over there possibly and bask in the culture.💗

You may get 10% or more in the bank but this is offset more than double by inflation and the ever falling lira, best to keep money in sterling at 1.5% you will be far far better off than holding those lira . The average inflation rate in Turkey for the last 50 years has been 34% and the highest interest rates in the bank I saw was : 94% be careful

Inflation higher than 10% and declining lira would melt down your money. People protect their savings with gold, real estate or foreign currency there.
But the main thing is, once you are there you will probably put the money not on the first place. Just a small garden will feed you in abundance and you will taste the value of sharing with others not only on birthdays, but almost everyday. So it is important the place you choose (not commercial areas, not too wealty around) and go along with as much as people. Most people maintain there social life with hunderds of friends, not a few friends like in Europe. For the small jobs like fixing the tire, threre is always someone will do the job for free by generosity.
Nobody will shut down a store to your face because you are few minutes late. Almost any person eating and you say "afiyet olsun" will invite to join the meal. But of course it is about sharing, moderation and recipority.

Thanks for the vid. I am a chinese living in Turkey. I had that "ehh"? face as well before I came to Turkey. Then I really loved my life here. But, pls, don't overexagerate the pros of this country: no poverty here, all people are so nice, no need for food banks, etc. sorry, all bs in my opinion. The best two things about Turkey: Supreme weather, Great cost of living!

Hi, of course there are people who struggle, just the same as any other country, I suppose my point was that you would think that poverty and homelessness would be more over here than in say the UK, it seems that if you don't have much money here you can still get by there are opportunities for you to be able to move forward..
Most of the people I have met including my neighbours have been very kind and welcoming, I honestly cannot think of a time where there has been hostility towards me.. not to say at some point I may experience this, I just find that what you project is what you receive.
      Regards

Why u didn't move to Spain, its cheaper than the UK and also the same UK culture you being a christian, like to eat port....etc.
Also, we fed up with ignorant europran the way they thinking about Turkey(camel, Turks looks like Arabian, desert ...etc.).
I think it was quite easy for you to go to Google and make research on Turkey so you can see how this country look like (geographically, ethnicity , read about Ottoman great history...etc) before you built up your perceptions, right? OR this is what your people want to believe in Turkey because this is what you taught in your schools and because this is europe christian mentality how doesn't like the idea Turkey has apart from europe and its like heaven on earth and they are a very modern and industrial country with great history how defeated the whole chrisitian armies in many many wars?.we prefer you european not coming over and stay where they are OR to move to a similar culture that you used to live before(Spain, Italy or even Greece ).
