So happy to come across your video of 60 miles on Centennial. Loved it. Plan to do spring of '23.

This is awesome. I've never hiked this part of the U.S., came thru the area when we moved to Idaho, always wanted to go back. Bravo to you as a solo woman backpacker. I'm currently section hiking the Appalachian Trail, but my husband wants me to have a partner all the time. Your hike is inspirational.

Very nice, I've hiked parts of what you did. Will you try the whole Centennial Trail sometime, 111 miles from Bear Butte to Wind Cave? This has been a crazy spring with snow and rain.

The trail is actually 125 miles. It has changed throughout the years but some of the websites still list it as 111 miles. Maybe someday finish it but I don't think I would do a thru hike again.

I am so happy you put this out there. I"ve never heard of this trail. It was sure beautiful. I kept looking at the steep hills and mountains, and I could only think of one thing. Thank goodness you had that winter walking goal. You were in great shape. One question, was there a shuttle?

I used Hill City Taxi Service in Hill City. There's not a whole lot of support for backpacking. I don't mean that in a bad way, but it doesn't go through towns so resupply can be an issue. That's why I parked my car half way so I could "resupply" from my car, drive to a hotel etc. I was going to try to do the whole thing but the weather just didn't cooperate. I think the walking helped a lot but one thing I didn't figure on was the altitude! The area there was 4,000+ feet. I live at 550. I think it really slowed me down some.

@@lindahikes2760 The weather got a whole lot worse afterwards and lots of things had to close down do to the snow, including Rushmore. Spring snows here are very wet and heavy and in wintertime very dry.

Hahaha I thought the same thing about that big rock in black elk wilderness while sitting there.
