    I have a good camping recipe for you, but I make it for brekky in the fall and winter, anytime.
    Take a few cups of water and whatever bouillon you like to taste. Some like less bouillon some like a lot.
    Use half a ramen noodle and a handful of dehy veggies )I use Augason farms from the big can, stew veggies) simmer until veggies rehydrate.
    Bring to a boil swirl water and add two beaten eggs.
    Take off heat and add McCormick's Organic Red Curry powder to taste anywhere between 1 tsp to 1 tbsp. H.E.A.V.E.N! Voila! Hindi Ramen!
    You could take blanched broccoli or frozen veggies, toss in chicken, etc. Great 1st night meal.
    My other tip is to wash and reuse the Mt House meal bags! They are so much better than freezer bags for heating stuff up. Also, for dividing meals!

    Great ideas! Dehydrating pasta and rice at home will save you fuel and time on the trail. It will hydrate with just cold water too. I don’t hike but I prep and prepare some diy MRE’s.

    You can get a titanium pan with a handle that folds down. Heat transfers different though so you gotta manage heat differently.
    I also bet that pest pizza idea would be awesome on fry bread or bannock.
    I too find cooking on trail one of my favorite parts about backpacking.
    Happy trails!

    Doesn’t sting cheese need to be refrigerated? It’s always in the refrigerator isle.

      Yes it should. I hike in Wisconsin Minnesota area in the fall so it's not usually a issue. You can use a harder cheese instead.

    I didn’t quite catch what you said about the bags. Did you say you use freezer bags because they handle the heat better?

    • @lindahikes2760
      @lindahikes2760  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. You can add boiling water to them and they won't fall apart. But they have to be freezer bags not regular. Sorry I wasn't clear.

      Notice it wasn't called my favorite "budget" backpacking meals. :) But I can use one package for two meals.
