Excellent Dave - the modern image stock really suits your layout and you have put together a superb video of mixed traffic - thank you for an enjoyable demonstration on your fantastic layout.
Love to watch yours running sessions. Just like being there. Amazing layout. I also like the blue era but just thoroughly enjoy all your Rolling stock. Love the shot of the HST pulling into the station under the canopy. Memories. Thanks Howard
Cheers Howard. So glad you liked it. Sometimes it’s just fun to run trains and enjoy the scenes around the layout. It also helps me appreciate all the thousands of hours of work and time that have gone into this layout (so far!). Sometimes even I forget to just enjoy playing on what I’ve created and sharing it is great fun too. Cheers Dave
What a great running session. Your layout is both inspiring and frightening. I am at the start of building my own loft layout and whilst I would love to attain something that approaches your level and quality of detail, the time and cost involved is scary. I am taking it one small step at a time. Thank you for providing the inspiration.
Just a lovely layout. Reminds me of spotting with my dad in the 80's/90's early 2000's when i was a kid. I now go spotting with my five year old lad 😁 great times!
Enjoyed that Dave. I have used a few of the TXS sounds now. Once installed, I just use them as an ordinary DCC sound decoder. The choice is much better than it was with timescales for new releases.
Really fond of the Scotrail HSTs, their days might be numbered but they look so at home in the Scotrail fleet. Had the pleasure of sitting right behind the power car in the thick of night racing from Waverley to Aviemore, never experienced anything like it.
@@DeanPark I totally agree, the original Railtrack models go for hideous money now, some sellers are on something very expensive for what they want for them, plenty unsold models on eBay through pure greed, hopefully another manufacturer will take them on and produce the for a sensible price weathered and unweathered, Bachmann have fuelled the extortionate secondhand prices with their latest collectors club models models unfortunately.
My favourite scenes for sure were the shots inside the station! Awesome! Also I really don’t like weathered loco’s so this whole video was absolute eye candy ❤ brilliant!
Inside the station shots are good aren’t they. I love seeing under the roof. I have a mix of clean and weathered locos. But if I have a valuable loco I keep it clean :-)
Loved riding on the Fife circle 68s a few years back. Evoked some memories that Dave. Not as good an era, when the shove duffs, 27s etc were running but still fun times.Thank you for sharing though Dave.
You know I never had the need/opportunity to ride on these 68/mk2 trains. I used to see them often, when they were hauled by ews class 67’s too. Wish I’d taken the time to ride on one now.
@DeanPark I never did the 67s Dave. I was up more regular when the 68s were on though. Let the 17.09 go and wait for the 17.20, take that to Dunfermline Town, jump straight over the platform at Dunfermline, get the unit down to Inverkeithing . Fester for about 40mins and get the returning 17.09 one back to Waverley. The hill starts at North Queensferry over the Forth Bridge, always got good noise from the 68, especially if it had been raining. The smell from the Brewery that hung over Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket too. Everyone must've said, what the hells that smell, when they got off there. Ah memories Dave.
If possible... could you one day plan an all British Rail Diesels session in the 1970's Blue period? That was my first memory of living in London as a boy. Live in Canada and work in the USA mostly now. Cheers. BTW I love how you model trains all come to a "nice stop"... Bravo!
I have a fair amount of BR blue stuff. So I’ll keep that in mind. I’m moving into running Sectorisation stock after this, with smatterings of BR blue as well. These shots will be included in future updates.
I know the 80s is your thing Dave, but every single piece of stock looked totally at home on Dean Park. I’d struggle to pick a favourite. Cracking running session and thanks for uploading.. All the best, Colin
Marvellous models indeed! I know that you’re an 80s fan but it’s great to see your modern image on Dean Park too, especially when I have some of the same models myself. Great video work which I’m sure must have taken a considerable time to record and edit. A great running session! Hornby HM7000 sounds great in the 67. I’ll definitely be fitting one in my pre-ordered 67 when it eventually arrives.
We should revere the HST at least as much as we do Mallard, or any other steam loco. They have lasted in service longer than any famous steam loco, is - like Mallard - a world speed record holder, and they single handedly saved the bacon of Britain's Inter-City services. And they still look great! Marvellous machines.
What a fantastic layout l would love to have one like yours but I have known wear to billd one as I can't get in my loft anymore. Keep the videos coming. 😊😊😊
I used westhill ones. They seem to work. If it’s the older tooling HST with the stepped rear coupler they are prone to the west hill couplers slipping out. But I just used a west hill close coupler on the power car and it worked.
This top quality running session is extremely welcome. It showcases your layout doing what it was designed to do: run trains. Would it be possible to add some narrative next time? Telling us why you'd chosen the trains we see, explaining their running characteristics, and some of the unforseen issues you'd encountered whilst crearing the session, perhaps? And if you're considering a theme for the next session, how about a "heritage railway gala weekend"? That would allow you to run pretty much anything and everything you pleased, all at once!
Hi thanks. I’ll have a think. I didn’t want to narrate over it as sometimes it’s nice just to watch the trains. But some context about the trains themselves would be an idea! So thanks. Dave
The noise the 67 made was terrific! Personally, I prefer the slow-revving, "lazy lion" growl of a 37 to the "busy bee" fuss of modern-day 2-strokes such as 59s, 66s, 67s & 69s. But there's no denying the quality of the what's inside the 67.
I just wish companies would sell multi packs of second class coaches. Would love 8 Bachmann MK2Fs in Blue and Grey. Where are they??? Hornby no MK2E’s blue/grey, Bachmann the same. I can’t run a train!!! Why don’t they like us early BR modellers?
Hi. On the lower mainline it is the peco system. The upper mainline is scratch built head spans by me. I’ll be fitting west hill wagon works OHLE masts and peco wires to the rest of the upper mainlines once they release the type I need.
Yeah upgraded the lights last year. And have extra photography lighting units for use when filming. It’s bright, but shows up the layout a lot better. Imo. Cheers.
Hey Dave, excuse the ignorance, but at the 13 minute mark (ish) you have the LNER HST running round the top section with 9 coaches? I never knew they ran HST’s in this length of rake…. I seem to remember western region ran 7 coach consists and East Coast was an 8 coach formation… when did the 9 coach version appear? Cheers Simon
Hi. 9 coaches was a privatisation era thing. I believe it started in GNER days and since then it’s remained. The east coast was always 8 under BR. On the western region there were 7 coaches initially and went to 8 in the mid 1980’s. East coast HST services must have had more passenger traffic (or fewer services than the western region?) to merit a longer train.
It is interesting to see although the layout is obviously unchanged, the transformation with the additional of more modern stock. It certainly adds another dimension to your layout. Next you could go back in time to the 1960’s……
Nice to see the colourful modern stuff, but when I run modern the gloss soon wears off - no parcels, no coal, no pick up freight, just container trains and units mainly ……I rapidly return to the 70/80/90s
As I have said before its just trains running up and down the same sections of track most of the time, why don't we see the trains run around the entire layout, or are you just conscious about to many roof joists etc spoiling the look ?
I cannot show the entire layout and have the trains suitably visible, as the layout is over 25ft long. There is not enough space at each end for me to get the camera far enough back to see the whole layout anyway. And the trusses will be in shot and who wants to see that?!
Excellent Dave - the modern image stock really suits your layout and you have put together a superb video of mixed traffic - thank you for an enjoyable demonstration on your fantastic layout.
Glad you enjoyed it. The modern stock is a nice change from my usual era.

Great to hear you’re starting a layout. Take your time and enjoy it. The cost is an issue these days. But not need to buy it all at once.
Fantastic! Love the shots from inside the station
Cheers. Yeah those shots are hard to film but worth it :-)
@@DeanPark Aye, can imagine it's a really awkward spot to get a camera into!
Just looks and sounds fantastic. Just starting my layout at 57 years young and your tips and ideas are very helpful. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍
Great to hear. Enjoy getting started. 😊
As per usual, brilliant stuff ,fantasticly well put together ,very informative and of course inspirational...keep em coming mate

Enjoyed that Dave. I have used a few of the TXS sounds now. Once installed, I just use them as an ordinary DCC sound decoder. The choice is much better than it was with timescales for new releases.
Some of the TXS sounds are well recorded. Others not so. But the 67 is great.
Amazing layout so detailed many thanks love watching
Love the big layout and running sessions

especially enjoyed the views inside the shed
Yeah that is a cool angle to get the camera into. So glad you appreciated it too. Cheers. Dave.
Thank you
Always a treat to watch trains running on Dean Park! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Great video dean park that Hst as the thumbnail looks brilliant 😁
The red LNER HST is a stunner isn’t it! Glad you liked it.
Great to see the trains running again. Scotrail have some of the best liveries of the last few years in my opinion
It really is a smart livery, especially on the 68/mk2F coaches. But for me the best scotrail livery is on the HST. Stunning!
Very well done!!!!🤩
Cheers 😊

Yes they are very classy machines!
Fabulous to see so many trains running
Brilliant!
Hi, great running session, great to see you have a rake of Bachmann auto ballasters, they are some of my favourite wagons, tanks for sharing.
They are absolutely stunning models. Rather expensive but when you see the level of detail on them they are pretty awesome.

Been following you since your first Post 11 years ago when you had laid are small oval of track which was to grow into the superb layout that it is
Hi John. It’s been a lot of work over the last 11 years and still a lot to be done. Thanks for getting in touch once again. Cheers. Dave
Nice to see inside the train shed. Quiet running too without drumming- what is used for baseboard and underlay please?
Thanks.
Baseboard is 12mm birch plywood and track sits on 1 or 2mm cork, depending on the line.
Always enjoy these. The hard, careful work of constructionis really paying off now with great running.
Please advise on the coupling used on the HST power car to coach.I have used westhill wagons but do not hold and loco shoots off.
I used westhill ones. They seem to work. If it’s the older tooling HST with the stepped rear coupler they are prone to the west hill couplers slipping out. But I just used a west hill close coupler on the power car and it worked.
You needed some modern image road vehicles 😅. Great video though.
