I don’t agree about Amen lacking vision, though. I think he’s pretty gifted there. I think it’s more that he either gets going too fast for his developing handle at times, and/or it’s just not getting time on task. If his handle gets a bit better I’d trust him at the 1. Especially playing alongside of Jalen who can assume the lead guard when needed, and particularly Alpi’s capacity to be a playmaking hub.

Jalen’s making better decisions with regularity, he’s keeping energy on offence despite consistently working hard on D, he looks like the game has slowed down for him, he has gotten so crafty in getting to the rim, and he’s still 22.
Unlike March, this ‘hot streak’ isn’t making impossible shots, it’s all repeatable/sustainable except for the high end outside shooting. His form is sweet, so I think it’ll come in time, but I also think that it won’t go in the toilet for long stretches, it just won’t be this high all the time. And he doesn’t need it to be.
And lastly, something he doesn’t get enough credit for is his personality/character. He’s almost always infectiously joyful, his teammates clearly love him, for a much hyped draft pick he works hard and doesn’t pout when Ime gives him tough love. Did you see his interview the other day, where he was very open and humble about his weaknesses, said himself that he has had a tendency to float when not engaged and has to stay on top of himself to make sure that doesn’t happen…refreshingly objective for a big time athlete.

Great episode fellas! But I still stand by my tweet of saying it’s a lazy take/analysis to suggest that Amen starting has somehow unlocked JG though lol! I put it in the bucket of when people said JG and Sengun can’t play together just bc the Rockets went on a run without him. Nothing by the eye test or statistically really supports those stances imo. But yall did a great job of breaking down all of the strengths/weaknesses of every player and this team. I agree with WCF as the ceiling as well. But I think realistically we’re exactly where OKC was last year and they lost in 6 game in the 2nd round.

Great pod guys. my ceiling for the team is WCF. I don't think we can beat OKC. my big 3 is Jalen, Alperen and Amen. I said before the season this team would win 50 games, so through the 1st half they have been better than even I thought they would be. I think we should wait until the end of this season before making any trades. we need to see this team in the playoffs before trying to upgrade it. I have defended Jalen since he was drafted, but even I have had some doubt along the way. I really became incouraged when Ime took over because I figured if anybody could develope him Ime could. I agree with you Frank, while it has been a rollercoaster ride there has also been slow but steady improvement. you can see him figuring things out. more times than not he's making good decisions. I think we are begining to see the influnce of Ime blosoom in Jalen's game. dare I say it..........Jalen's basketball IQ has begun to expand?

At 32:00 I disagree with the Tony Parker analogy. In the sense that Amen doesn’t need to be a number one to be a main ball handler (like Tony didn’t). I think his processing is part of his superpowers, and he puts pressure on the rim unlike a Draymond. However, he’s not able to manipulate defenses to the best of his ability just yet until he tightens his handle, which allows him to slow down in the paint, & get more on ball reps

We would still have plenty of assets to get a star in the off-season. If we don't use our expiring contracts, then they are just wasted. As good as we are doing, you can allwaysximprove the team and might help make a deeper run in the post-season if not only a series deeper. Jeff Green, TATE and a 1st of ours, and maybe a couple 2nds. They win on everything except shooting, rebounds, steals, turnovers, great at stopping transition, 2nd chance points, etc. we win on the margins.. with little more skill and talent improvement that’s the recipe for a great contender

To state the obvious: The players bought into Imes vision and system. Rockets literally got a young Popovic

Listen i do not dislike jalen green. But i need to see consistency from jalen. We have seen hot streaks like this before then he goes back to being terribly inconsistent. I dont have alot of expectations for this team because we are young and i am at that wait see point if jalen is going to stay consistent . Im happy we are just winning as of now

Define consistency in your terms. Because he has been consistent since thanksgiving… also every single player has been consistent

@felipecornejo7309 consistent since Thanksgiving since when ? He didn't start playing well till late December he averaged 19 ppg on poor shooting in December he averaged 17 ppg in November on poor shooting %s what are u even talking about ?

@ his play started in Thanksgiving, it was shown when the team decided to go more off ball with Fred. Scoring was up and down, but overall defense and play making was better while avg a good TS. His offensive stats started to go up in December. Consistently is not only in scoring but in other aspects of his game

@felipecornejo7309 it did not start at Thanksgiving you are wrong look at the numbers. When u comment atleast make some factual statements. He didn't start until late December

Jalen is playing good at the beginning of the season and then 2 bad games and then he had a two week ilness go see in the injury report at that november time the fact is even that illness he insisted on playing still one of our tough guy in this team plaing no matter what he did that also last 7 games of the season when he played with ankle injury and bad leg that is why his scoring deep in april last season this season he a good defender he average 1 steal a game and some block also the block on tatum was his block of year for jalen career , a lot of jalen haters always see him as one dimensional player but he playing both ends now and his playmaking improve also if only dillon jabari sengun and Fred makes shot when jalen pass to them in an open shot his avarage assit might be 5 , also haters didnt notice he is the only one in this rocket team that play 82 straight games last year plus now 41 thats 123 straight game without missing any single game and he is drives to the basket by an average of at least 7 to 8 a game look at some star in the nba like leonard of clipper, ,embid zion doncic they miss to many games and that hurt there team a lot so availability is important to the team

In my eyes, Jalen has not proved yet if he has increased his IQ and vision of the game. If they finish in the 2nd or third spot with the help of his playing, I will conclude that he has gone through the transformation we have been expecting from him. Amen is still immature. He needs to broaden his vision of the game. Cam is, as Frank rightly put it, a bad version of Jalen. He has no awareness about the game even though he has developed a bit after his short G-League journey.
