I don’t know how you cope with driving around everywhere every day. I would probably end up with a triple bypass! 😂

Two wrongs don't ever make a right mate, your just promoting bad driving to others, I don't have an issue personally as I have done the same in the past, but I now discipline myself not to do any illegal manoeuvres - you can send them a message by driving correctly and pulling back in from of them and then moving instantly left into the empty lane where they should be... I also force myself to drive as Tony does which is a bit tough as he is a tad slow, but he is correct in his manner of driving style, if we all drove like this we all be getting to our destinations much more quickly, also I don't understand why drivers do not drive between 56 - 60 mph in the slower lanes to match lorries speed in those lanes negating the need to over take.. but that's just me I guess.

the green stuff is a traffic calming measure. You don't have to keep it clear, but it visually narrows the road so psychologically causes drivers to slow down.

Also the wonders of the north and south circulars where I once saw a mini use the zebra crossing by the m4 flyover , they were wonderful days

How many complaints are you going to get from people about what you did at 5:26? You did the correct thing, waited for it to clear but more importantly you communicated and spoke to the other driver. That is key to doing things like this, communication. The only other opportunity you would have is to turn left and then turn around somewhere or turn right at the lights and again, turn round somewhere. Sometimes it needs to be done that way but when an opportunity like this arises...nice

  • @smilerbob

Nice to see that red Audi slow down and pass the slow lane hog slowly and carefully on the motorway. Makes a change from blasting through at Mach-2 😄
And on a the subject, I think in that instance, as long as you were slow and careful you would have been fine to move left and pass the vehicle. It starts to become a problem when you are weaving through traffic, or like the van moving two lanes to do the manoeuvre that it becomes an issue. Not 100% sure on your following distance there...think it got below the recommended 2 second gap but can understand why. Good that the van could see what was happening and I am seeing more drivers being helpful like that if you give them an early enough sign that you want to move 👍

You should not have based your driving off the Massarotti. You should have moved over to the left asap and just driven past it in that lane. I contacted the police recently over something similar and they said it was safe and lawful to stay in the far left lane and should not move over 2 lanes to overtake a slow moving vehicle in the middle lane. I was surprised with this answer but happy that was their advice.

I have come to hate driving over the last few years and if it wasn't for the fact I live in the sticks with no regular bus/taxi service I would get rid of my car altogether. When I was a kid first driving back in the late 1980's we were scared to death of being pulled over and getting a ticket but nowadays nobody seems to care because the police aren't policing anymore. You're more likely to be arrested for saying something, on Twitter, that hurts a persons feelings than you are to be pulled for stupid dangerous driving.. Shame really!!

You seemed a lot calmer; was it the classical music ??
One thing that made me wince; was as you slowly went past that large curtain sided lorry on the motorway.
I have seen a few no warning pull-outs by similar and larger HGVs, so I do NOT linger alongside; even if it means a quick squirt to 10 mph above the speed limit - or giving them an entire lane of gap if that isnt possible.
I pulled a couple of teenage girls out of a wreck on the motorway, after they did what you were doing; the HGV suddenly pulled out; hit their rear quarter, and spun them around across the nose of the lorry.

9:40 is something that has always annoyed me ... and I'm not even a driver.
Why do people _INSIST_ on going, when their light is green, when it's CLEAR that the traffic right after the junction that they're going into, is stationary?
There should be a rule that you should _ONLY_ proceed through any junction (and this INCLUDES simple T-junctions in rural locations), if you can completely the clear the way for any side roads or other roads from other directions without having to stop.
On a mostly unrelated note, but still related to traffic light controlled junctions....
    Has anyone ever noticed this?
You have a 4-way junction. It's one of those junctions where you have right-turn traffic lights that are on a separate sequence to the straight-on and left traffic lights. Why is it, that when the right- turn traffic lights go green, people in the straight-ahead/left traffic lights, who have been waiting at red lights for a few seconds, not moving, always do that weird crawl forward? It's not a "oh there's a green light... oh wait, that's not my light" start to go and then stop. It's a very slow creep forward thing. They aren't even at the front of the queue. They'll stop behind a car, but when the left turn traffic starts to go on their green light, you'll have a random driver just randomly slowly drive a few millimetres forward. Why?

  • @FrancoisDebellie

Around 3mins you said you cannot overtake because of traffic on your right. There was half a century between the LGV and the silver van. @@thelondondashcam The Highway Code gives you advise on what may be best practice. It doesn't say you must only overtake on the right. A police officer would never tell you to move from lane 1 to 2 to 3 and lane 4 then back to 1 especially on fast moving traffic. If those in lanes 1,2 and 3 was to take your advise of going to lane 4 to pass a slow hogger in lane 3 that is forming a bottle neck.

I think this is part of the advisory cycle lane (broken line) on Wandsworth Bridge Road in Fulham. The green paint appeared earlier this year and it's there to discourage you from overtaking cyclists as you pass through the narrowing in the road caused by the traffic island.

    • @iallso1
      @iallso1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@JB_Stitch my issue with this set-up is that due to narrow road motor vehicles are forced to run in the cycle lane. If they are forced to drive in the cycle lane here, why shouldn't they drive in the cycle lane everywhere else.
I want to see sustainable travel, here in NZ we encourage cycling, e-bikes, and e-scooters, with large sums of money being spent on cycle infrastructure. However when I see local authorities create infrastructure in this manner that appears to put road users at increased risk, both from injury and being penalised by the police, it seems counter-productive.

I wish I had a dash cam, I was so close to a massive crash. I was on A2 going to london at 6am, at the junction with M25, 4 lane motorway with 2 more lanes as slip road off to M25. I was driving at 60 in 3rd lane trying to avoid the mess in first 2 lanes where people try to get on M25, some absolute dickhead overtook me in 4th lane, cut me off making me brake hard, he dove from 4th lane all the way into the sliproad at over 70 mph where cars were queing up and completely stopped. The prick pile-drived into the back of the cars, pushing them around like bowling pins, I dodged the debris and cars and got away untouched

Do it, buy one - my dashcam paid for itself many times over. Previous car written off while parked, 7.5t van driver saying to my face he would have no problem telling fairy stories to the insurance, and tried to leave without leaving details. So I told him to go ahead and try, but I never told him he was caught on dashcam, so he got done extra for fraud attempt.
Woman reversing into my car on purpose, driving one of those Citroen cactus with rubber everywhere so she did not care to use my car as a stopping point, left me just one inch to get out of the space. When confronted with the clip of just the impact itself, she even denied it was her driving. But I did not show her the full video. Insurance just called me recently, she got done for fraud, hit and run, and not wearing a seat belt. She got priced out of insurance and now on the Police/DVLA's books.
Insurance gave me the red carpet treatment on both occasions, told me that's what they call a ''slam dunk'' case, and I received some compensation for my troubles, courtesy vehicles etc.
Bonus story: woman damaged my wipers front and back one day because I dared park in front of her house. When confronted, she said ''I'm sick of tired of people like you parking in my space [her space ?], when you could go park anywhere else in the world, now F off'' - front and back HD video sent to the police, she got done for criminal damage.

Guess what the council did when they painted yellow lines and parking areas - they designated parking area right opposite of her driveway
