I love how Samsung made the panel smaller, but still managed to make battery life worse.

Tech doesn't leap ahead as far as it once did, so basically they are same phone with tweaks to lure someone who needs the latest. If someone upgraded televisions every year you'd think they were crazy.

Pretty sure phone manufacturers employ Planned Obsolescence, especially through phone updates. So the older phones get worse in operation, not because of some inherent defect (but due to planned obsolescence), prompting the consumer to purchase a newer phone that will run smoother, even if the newer unit is not much of an inherent upgrade in software or hardware.

Well, not everywhere. Many countries have laws against Planned Obsolescence. But in most of the western world, PO is standard practice.
the S22's snapdragon 8 gen 1 has more of a bigger GPU increase in performance rather than CPU
I think I like the plastic back better than a glass back.

For sure, I love how this guy tries to sell in the S22 as a superior phone but ends up whit the s21 on top. I still have a Note 10+ but still cant see any reason to upgrade any time soon. I can't see who in the right mind would even consider upgrading between these two.

its due to s22 will be launched officially on march and its still in its pre order phase it will get better optimized software update soon and s21 is already a year old and almost polished with all the support it got till now
@Carl Gunderson some buyers already got their pre-ordered S22 already. I have a friend from Chicago, we both bought the S22+, he received it yesterday and video-called me to show me. Mine's supposed to come today cause it said out-for-delivery but since the weather is really bad here in Dallas so it may delay a day or two.
I think it depends on where you live, some country get launch on Feb 25-27, and some other will be lauch on March 4 like in my country
they did terrible on the release of this s22. i preordered the BASE s22 on Feb 15. still hasn’t even shipped from samsung
Hello, useful video. Just to answer your question how can be older phone faster. If you used this phone before you probably have loaded app data in cache, which makes loading faster. The other thing is that both are using UFS 3.1 so there should be little or non difference between them. Most games and apps are optimize to run even on low end hardware. Thats why processor speed is not that relevant for avarege users these days.
Not to mention difference was usually less than a second and oftentimes is the result of poor hand coordination, this reviewer is stupid

I'm a s21 user, pls turn off the s21 battery saver then do the comparisons. I can see the battery saver logo on the top off s21
I'm a very heavy user on weekends and my phone at 100% charged at 9 AM needs charged at 5- 5:30 PM. I can imagine this will be a bigger problem in 1 year. In all fairness coming from an old S9 the battery is similar but that phone is 4 years old. I hope the S23 will last at least 12-16 hours! I charge my phone at night anyway. I do think the camera is a little better on the S22. Let me also say that Samsung needs to make their speakers and a better battery. It's also not fair the ultra gets the better camera when I need a small phone.
People always say this and leave out the fact that it can charge %50 in about 15 to 20 minutes.

Bit of a pointless speed test if you didn't reboot both phones, otherwise nobody is going to notice a 0.2 second difference.
This vid is much easier to understand at .75 playback speed.
I'm surprised there's no battery drain test between s21 series(all) vs s22 series(all) on youtube.

The S22's battery must be a concern at only 3700 , I have the S21 which has a 4000 cell and the battery is problematic .

The Samsung website states that the S22 and S22+ only last 54 hours and 64 hours on a charge during audio playback tests. The S21 and S22 last a respective 68 and 75 hours during these same tests.

I get about 8-9 hours of continuous heavy use (videos, etc). I've had phones that last me 14 hours of heavy use so it could use improvement

Man I have an s10 rn and it's lasted me 3 years now im ready to upgrade and the loss of things like the headphone jack are mind blowing when newer usually means better.

The S22 aspect ratio is different. Same as the iPhone. Which makes the phone a little wider than the S21.
S21 was too tall tbh, as with most android phones. I dont use apple but i think they have the dimensions just right. 20:9 is too much tbh w/ you
Ive owned the 21 for a year now and at first i was very mad at the plastuc back, but in practice we almost always use our phones with cases and then its mostly plastic and rubber so the only thing i despise is the durability of plastic and how easily it scratched compaired to glass. However i doubt i could go to an even smaller screen considering my 21 is jst jst enough and bordering on the side of too small..espesh in gaming.

The speed performance didn't make a difference and did not change where the S22 was of an advantage over the S21
Most pointless tests are the how fast an app opens. its always a fraction of sec, maybe a whole second in difference. thats adds $5 value to a $1000 phone, lets get real

you have the power saving mode turned on, on the s21. wouldn't that hinder the performance? how could you accurately test the side by side with that enabled on only one phone?
I think the power saving mode would make the s21’s performance worse, but somehow i see that it was running a bit better than the s22, how’s that?
@@Speedy1997 that's why I brought it up. That seems odd and it shouldn't be equal because power save mode is meant to save power by not running as hard. Unless it's focusing everything running just those specific apps while the other phone is handling multiple apps while going through the same tests.

I'm returning S22 Ultra as it's just too big for a lot of my use, but I saw that it had TMobile Ultra Capacity 5G at times. Do S21 and S22 have the same bands and capabilities? One speed test gave me UC of 321 mbps, which is almost as fast of a download as my WiFi

Wow, the s22 ultra is too big, it's almost as if it was made to be used for just about everything, it's a swiss army knife dialed up to eleven, it has dex, an spen, and it has a battery as big as most powerbanks, a jack of all trades but this time a master of all, it's as feature rich as can be but borders on practical usability given the weight and the size, its like that phone is made for nba sized people. I cant quite fathom how people would pocket a behemoth like that.
How about the speed of fingerprint/facerecognition unlock of each?
Traded in my S20+ for an S22+, and also own an S21 Base Model (all US / Snap Dragon variants). From my experience, the S21 is a microsecond faster when it comes to biometrics, but I just got my S22+ yesterday. Due to all the adaptive / learning capabilities of these phones, who knows if the S22 will improve over time. The S22 is just as accurate, though.

My wife and I just got the s22. She went from the s9 and i had the s10. I like my s22 but, i really miss the rounded edges of the s10. Also, initially, i don't like or I'm just not used to the volume buttons. I keep pushing the vol down when i want the power/camera button. Im sure I'll get used to the phone because, I'm going to have it for awhile.
I'm also looking to upgrade from my s10 but im confused which I should get. When it was abt to fome out I expected the s22 to have a bigger battery bec battery life of the s10 has degraded over the years now. How has the battery life of the s22 been for you so far? I don't want a phone that I have to keep plugging in, in ONE day. One full charge per day should ideally be enough for a day's use
@@wazeela.6389 so far, it seems to run out quicker than my s10 did. I also have ocd so, when it gets to 65%, i feel like it's about to die. There is a setting to extend the life of the battery. It will only charge to a maximum of 85%. I do miss having a plug slot for headphones so, Bluetooth is the only way to connect it to my car or headphones.

The s21 is going for 375€ brand new unlocked in my place, it's an amazing value. There is also the s10+ for 290€ and the s10 for 190€ all of them are amazing for the price!

If you want to compare the thickness, put both phones screens together and them compare. Stupid to have the camera bump in between while trying to show a thickness comparison.
They are not even running the same software so. Opening apps is really meaningless as a comparison.

The battery on my s22 is really bad so far. I’m not sure on the camera yet Roger due to some blurry pictures where that wouldn’t happen with iPhone 11.

In the 4 minutes that was taken for the comparison speed test between the phones, S22 went from 97 to 96% and S21 went from 39 to 38% Just in case if anyone is wondering..

your messages apps are different number one. s21 is using samsung messages and s22 appears to be using google messages from the icon (I HATE THIS CRAP) And the S22 being slower is likely all down to new chip and optimization needed. same issue the exynos chips face. just they face it worse. You tech youtubers need to start making complaint videos about manufacturers trying to make their own text messaging apps on android because every single one of them sucks.

1:25 Yes but also because of aspect ratio. S21 has 20:9 like s20 had and S22 has 19,5:9 like Note 10 has. For me this is really big mistake. 21:9 is best for the phone because of movies that in this aspect and this is good idea to slowly makes phones longer to finally reach 21:9 but also make people accustomed to that by changing length year after year.
