I don't understand the hate for Sam. He isn't a comedian, he's a DJ/presenter. He doesn't step on bits, he contributes to the conversations without slamming on the brakes, and is genuinely likeable. And that's despite having been taught everything he knows from The Master (who has been doing radio since he was 18).
@Kennedy Williams opie sucked. He was rarely funny, treated people like dirt, spoilt so many great bits, ran to the phones when he couldn't contribute (everyday) and then sabotaged the whole thing from jealousy and narcissism. So, yeah, whilst we wouldn't have Ant, Patrice and Jimmy (as we know them) without Opie, he was/is a mediocre radio presenter who rode on the back of Anthony's (and, to a lesser extent,, Jim's) talent. Pat Cooper was dead on the mark when he called him out on that. Sam, on the other hand, came up through the ranks, dealing with a POS boss who needed to be coddled all the time, doesn't crush bits into the ground, doesn't treat people like garbage and, whilst he tries to be funny, knows he isn't a comedian and doesn't pretend to be.
I watched both woodstock 99 documentaries. On one of them, it shows for a split second rich on stage and I immediately thought to myself. This further solidifies how awful that festival was if they got rich Vos to MC it. Not because rich is bad, but because he's rich vos and that is woodstock 99. I can't imagine the spittle hitting the front row and mispronounced bands.
