    About me: I initially had a clothing company that tanked. However, that experience taught how incredibly expensive it is to outsource your content creation. This prompted me to learn everything I could about photo and video. Shooting video and photo was the aspect of the business I enjoyed the most, so I made the tough decision to focus on those disciplines. Just like you, I’m still learning but I still want to share my experience with you because I love watching videos basically anything related to film photography and video. I hope you’ve taken something useful from watching my channel. It’s been proven that subscribers to my channel are 47% happier than non-subscribers. Food for thought.
    Happy Shooting, Zain

    Thank you so much for this review. I've had my A1 since 1981 and I absolutely love it. I have four vintage breech lock lenses. 50 mm 1.4 ssc; 85mm 1.8 ssc; 28mm 2.0 ssc; and 135mm 2.5 sc. I haven't shot anything with my A1 in about eight years so I'm getting back into it. The big drawback is the price of a roll of film here in the western united states has gone from around $5 to $20 . However I will not be deterred. I'm 68 years old and film is all I know.

    +1 For all those reasons for the A1, I’ve got one or two newer cameras and after the novelty wore off I always go back to my A1 it’s just seamless to use (granted they’re some limitations). Again always love seeing your content!
    Have you thought about the longer focal length lenses? 85-135? The 1.8 85 is something I’m curious about and 1.2L 85 is something to dream about. I’ve tried a Vivitar 135 2.5 lens and it’s definitely a different experience then a 50

    hi, I just got my Canon A1 and I get quite confused with the aperture setting. Like changing the aperture in the body to 2.8 but keeping my lens aperture as 5.8 then what would be the result? If I use aperture priority mode, do I need to change both the body and the lens setting? Thank you so much!!

    • @ZainRiza
      @ZainRiza  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey man, this is exactly what I talk about in the video. You're not actually in aperture priority mode from what you've described to me. To put the camera into aperture priority, you need to put the lens onto A and turn the switch by the shutter button to Av. Then you should see what your aperture value in the window next to the shutter button is. If you half-press the shutter button, you'll see the same aperture value in the electronic display in the viewfinder as in the window. You actually have your camera in manual mode and it'll shoot the value on the lens; the value shown in the viewfinder is the camera suggesting a value that it thinks will give you a good exposure. This is what I was talking about how the camera can be good for beginners to learn the exposure triangle as it provides a safety net in manual mode. If the electronic display in the viewfinder is distracting, you can turn it off with the switch to the left of the viewfinder.

    Is there anywhere in particular that you recommend buying this camera for somewhat cheap? I figured just going on ebay or going to any nearby place that sells film cameras but I wasn't sure.

    • @ZainRiza
      @ZainRiza  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Getting film cameras for less than what they're worth is kinda impossible nowadays with the internet. Your only chance of getting a film camera 'cheap' is if the seller is desperate to sell or the seller doesn't know what they have; both of which are rare scenarios. Ebay and physical shops would always be my recommendation. Just research the general price range for the camera before committing to a purchase so you know whether or not you're massively overpaying or not.

    • @ZainRiza
      @ZainRiza  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has to be turned on. Make sure it's on. You might need a new battery. There's a battery check button. If the red light blinks slowly, you need new batteries. It should still operate even without film.

      (copied from a forum) "According to the instructions it's caused by taking the lens of the 'A' setting and selecting an aperture, then pushing in the stop down lever, then releasing it and then returning the lens to 'A', all without taking a shot. Then you can't cock the shutter or release the shutter. The cure is to push the multiple exposure lever and re-cock the shutter." I've had this problem before.
