    All Clare Fischer songs and arrangements are astonishing. Have you analyzed his "Suddenly" ? I'm struggling to learn it by ear. His chords are really incredible... Incredible... 🎉❤❤❤

      Agreed. I have done some analysis on Suddenly - it's extremely rich harmonically. I'll dive back in and fish for some specific chords.

    Studied arranging with Clare through the Dick Grove CAP program back in 1982. Amazing musician.

    I love Clare Fischer's work. Many times there would be a song I would hear and think "man those chords and orchestration are amazing". Then later on I would find out it was him. His work on Robert Palmer's version of "You're My Thrill" kept me up for weeks. And your composition sounded great. I really dig those changes.

    • @Keith_Horn

      Right? His arrangements are second to none and his original work is on another level.

    Love your channel Keith, great work! At 1.51 you have transcribed E 's in octaves where the lower note needs to be a C making the C 10 sound.

    6:28 Some of those mistakes sounded good those. Especially at 6:07. Very different vibe even though it's just one note difference.

    Maybe this isn't a helpful way of looking at it, but personally, I see those first three chords all as being different levels of tension over the V7 (G7). You can look at the E minor over F minor as a structure from G mix. b2, then G13 as a less tense colour taken from plain G mix., before upping the tension again with a structure taken from (maybe) G super loc.
    I doubt he thought of it that way though. Like you said, he wrote this with the movement of each voice in mind.

    • @Keith_Horn
      @Keith_Horn  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a nice way of looking at it. The first chord is almost the whole Gmix b2 scale!

    Love your Chord of the Week videos. How is the second chord a G13 if there's no F? Looks more like a G69 to me.

    • @Keith_Horn
      @Keith_Horn  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching! That's my mistake - I'm playing the F but I notated an E. It should read (from the bottom) G-F-A-B-E-G. Thanks for catching that!
