I kept reading where David Sylvian, Peter Gabriel, Steven Wilson and Tim Bowness mentioned Elbow in interviews and finally heard them. Now I want to hear everything they have ever recorded. After seeing and hearing their live act on You Tube I am an even bigger fan of this band. Superb vocals, musicianship and songwriting. This is a band with heart, humor, love and great lyrics. Can't get enough.
Saw this guys once on Paladia with Jools Holland and it turned out they were playing a few weeks later at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Bought two tickets and feel in love with this song and music within 10 minutes. This band is the shit people. There is nothing like it
In a word-OUTSTANDING! The new N.Y.C. anthem!! A semi-haunting-semi upbeat, yet romantic fool & grey ballad- Rock on Elbow & N.Y.C. !! Cheers, Blozo The CLown
The first to pour a simple truth in words Binds the world in a feeling all familiar 'Cause everybody owns the great ideas And it feels like there's a big one round the corner A tenner, up and out into New York Somewhere in all that talk is all the answers And oh, my giddy aunt, New York can talk It's the modern road where folk are nice to Yoko Every bone of rivet steel, each corner stone an anchor Jenga jutts and rusty water tower, pillar-posted sign Every painted lining battered, like a building in this town Sings a life of proud endeavor and the best that man can be Me, I see a city and I hear a million voices Planning, drilling, welding, carrying their fingers to the nub Reaching down into the ground, stretching up into the sky Why? Because they can, they did and do so you and I could live together Oh my God, New York can talk Somewhere in all that talk is all the answers Everybody owns the great ideas And it feels like there's a big one round the corner Oh my God, New York can talk Somewhere in all that talk is all the answers Everybody owns the great ideas And it feels like there's a big one round the corner Oh my God, New York can talk Somewhere in all that talk is all the answers Everybody owns the great ideas And it feels like there's a big one round the corner The desire to part sure symphony The desire like a distant storm For love, be good for me And it feels like there's a big one round the corner Oh my God, New York, you talk Somewhere in all that talk is all the answers Everybody owns the greats ideas And it feels like there's a big one round the corner The way the day begins Decides the shade of everything But the way it ends depends on if you're home For every soul, a pillow at a window, please In a modern room, where folk are nice to Yoko
Brilliant as always.
Such a fucking great song - and not just Guy's vocals, but the whole band - and his beautiful lyrics. Gorgeous.
As someone born in NYC and forever in love with it, I find this song magnificent and spot-on.

Phil Brulia You have good taste, my friend.
I absolutely agree with you, simply fantastic !!!
Completely addicted to this masterpiece. It makes me feel really good.
Why is this not New York’s theme song?
Why is it so obscure? This is such a tremendous tribute to NYC.
This is a masterpiece both live and recorded. Nobody has ever been able to put into words how I feel about NY till now.
I fall further and deeper in love with Elbow, stunning, I find myself loving a certain song and discover another. Amazing
One can't tell which is live and which is the studio version. This man was blessed with an incredible voice.
Best band in the world - period. Don't let ANYONE tell you that they don't make bands like they used to. HELLO! LISTEN! Right here......RIGHT HERE.

Joyous. Lifts my spirit every time. And that's a good thing!

Heard this song for the very first time today and loved it.... I thought it was Peter Gabriel at first. Looked it up immediately on youtube.
Georgette Card Totally has a "So" era Peter Gabriel vibe :)

And it feels like there's a big one round the corner
The desire to part sure symphony
The desire like a distant storm
For love, be good for me
And it feels like there's a big one round the corner
Oh my God, New York, you talk
Somewhere in all that talk is all the answers
Everybody owns the greats ideas
And it feels like there's a big one round the corner
The way the day begins
Decides the shade of everything
But the way it ends depends on if you're home
For every soul, a pillow at a window, please
In a modern room, where folk are nice to Yoko
Didn't really like this song that much, but the live version? Just amazing.
Yawn.
