Thank you for your work and support. I have uncomplicated fracture body of t12, early lumbar spondylosis no spinal canal stenosis or root nerve compression. Can you suggest the exercises please
Thank you for the comment. Not all spinal stenosis has issue with standing, and you want to gradually build up movement and get back to walking and standing. I’m not saying its a quick fix and it happen over night !!
Good evening. In my search of assistance for help to bring back normalcy along with the diagnosis of spinal stenosis, I received a couple of days ago, I came across your videos. With this diagnosis, I have pain in my lower back and right hip that radiates to my right knee. Depending on how I turn my knee or walk, I experience severe pain. I'm making a long story short. This also happens during bedtime. I can't seem to lay properly relative to the placement of my knee. At first, there may be no pain, but soon after, it becomes aggravated, and I must try to reposition. This can happen at the expense of great pain to me. My knee is swollen and hurts when I bend it in certain directions. However, I can sit properly, NOW. I am limited in what I can do with your regimen, but I like lots of it. I can't lay on my back and extend my right knee and hand simultaneously due to the pain. I have yet to start rehab. I'm awaiting the referral from my doctor once she has gone over my MRI and CT scan. In the meantime, I need to start working on myself; I am an avid bowler and have always been very active. I can't stop now. What do you suggest? Thank you for your videos.
You need to get help and get a rehab plan that suits your injury. If you randomly follow rehab exercises I don’t see it will be helpful to you. Are you getting any help from physio ?
Good evening sir . I've been suffering from sciatica for last 2 month but as of now my leg and back are in bearable condition so can i start running...
Yup, I have 3 toes that permanently lost sensation doing the press ups a physio (not this one) assigned. Stopped press ups and toes problem progressing after mri showed actual spine condition.
I wish you had more on residual nerve root pain management of neck, shoulder, whole arm, hand control & down to upper ribcage etc, management/moderate stenosis, after extrusion/lap.. I forget the word sorry, disc removal and fusion C6/7. I see a lot for lumbar, but struggle to hold a cup of coffee some days, much less support body with arms/hands.
Chris, unfortunately I can’t picture the exercise she asked you to do !! But as far as I know Sarah Key is always right 😂👌 give it a try and see how it feels 😃 keep me posted how you getting on !? Bob
I would like to share with you my CT scan , I am hoping these exercises are safe for my results , IF you do have time i would greatly appreciate your input! Thank you I have subscribed to your channell. FINDINGS: Congenital narrowing of the spinal canal is noted. There is anterior and posterior fusion at the L3-L4 level. Severe disc space narrowing and endplate irregularity can be seen at the L2-L3, L4-L5, and L5-S1 levels. There is severe multilevel facet arthropathy and no compression fractures are identified. Limited views of the retroperitoneum demonstrate no evidence of aortic aneurysm. Specific findings at each lumbar level are as follows: L2-L3: Broad-based posterior disc osteophyte complex and severe bilateral facet arthropathy result in moderate to severe central canal stenosis and bilateral foraminal narrowing. L3-L4: No significant central canal stenosis or foraminal narrowing. L4-L5: Disc space narrowing results in grade 1 retrolisthesis. The retrolisthesis as well as a small broad-based posterior disc bulge and severe bilateral facet arthropathy results in moderate to severe central canal stenosis. There is severe bilateral foraminal narrowing. L5-S1: Severe bilateral facet arthropathy results in moderate bilateral foraminal narrowing. No significant central canal stenosis identified. IMPRESSION: Multilevel lumbar spondyloarthropathy superimposed on congenital narrowing of the spinal canal. The L2-L3 and L4-L5 levels are most severely affected.
Hi bob, it has been 1 year suffering from severe lumber canal stenosis with ap diameter 3mm but i recovered only 50 percent after exercise also.Should i go for a surgery? If what surgery doesn't works? Please suggest me
Hi bob can you help me... i have seen all your videos. i had lumbar spondylosis disc protusion at l4 l5 and degeneration noted at l4 l5. Also disc bulge in mild thecal sac on l5 s1...am 23 year old what i do please😢
Hi bob my mother is suffering from pain and her MRI shows Stenosis of the spinal canal with severe compression of the cauda equina, at the level of L4-L5 disc what should we do
I need more information to give you any feedback. Can you email me her MRI scan and report & I can give you some feedback. My email is rehab@dublinsportsinjuryclinic.com
Hi,im in the similar situation, just wondering how is your mother and is she receiving treatment yet? i have severe canal stenosis impinging cauda equina and traversing S1 nerve root in the lateral recesses, still waiting to see neurosurgeon , dont know if that means cauda equina syndrome, i can still work and live, just having some feeling on my right leg and sometimes numbness and tingling, now just trying to do anything to avoid surgery
Hello Bob, thank you for your helpful video, i am starting out to do these exercises daily, do you mind have a look at my MRI as well? I just want some advice about my options , thank you
Can I do all these exercises after the surgery. I have recently had the endoscopic spine surgery of stenosis of L34 L45. Please do respond. Regards I have push the 4:33 button to subscribe. Now no excuse please.😊
You can, but the issue is where to start and how to modify your plan based on your injury is important. I believe you need to get help. A plan that is customised to your needs 👌👍
I have myL4 L5 and S1 i am doing some exercise but not able to do all because I have both knee replacement so please tell me some exercise which I can do easily thank you so much.
Is this stenosis caused by a herniated disc? I find doing these exercises feels good & comfortable for me with my l5s1 herniated disc, as opposed to the “cow” positions that trigger some discomfort
Stenosis can be caused by a disc Herniation depends on what direction is the disc herniated. Some movement can aggravates the pain and I’m each individual is different. Avoid movement that doesn’t feel good at this moment and gradually add them to your routine. 😃💪
I need advice that my dr seems unable to provide, i can be brushing my teeth for example and my back goes, i have no idea what happens other than i have a mild pain in my back which over a wk gets worse to the point i cant straighten up and i end up bed ridden for a wk, i get spasms if i move at all and they are so painful I’ve actually broke teeth, a wk later im up and on sticks for a wk till it passes and i wait for the next time, its on repeat every month or so and its so depressing to live with, when im ok im up and about and folks say you ok too me but they only see me when i can walk, i live alone and its just not easy but the pain i swear leaves me with ptsd, omg it hurts when it spasms, my question is what happening, what are the spasms? What goes when it pops? Thanks 🙏🏻 💙
Please understand I help my painting over time and there is no magic routine to prescribe you. I have spinal stenosis and I say this guy has no idea does not know what he is talking about I tried physical therapy and exercise and it only made it worse I'm going with surgery This may work in moderate spinal stenosis but not as bad as mine is
Some spinal stenosis can be managed with exercise. Unfortunately it does not cure spinal stenosis and it does get worse over time. As the bone continues to encroach upon the spinal nerve sometimes laminectomy and fusion is the best solution. To say this guy doesn't know what he's talking about is just wrong. I hope you get back to the activities you enjoy after your surgery.

Standing is notoriously flaring for stenosis, I mention this because you encouraged the standing desk

Hello
Sarah Key an Australian physio suggests using a back block and then gently rocking back and forwards. Do you think this could work?
Thanks

Hi are these exercise useful for spinal canal narrowing due to L4-L5 and S1 diffuse disc bulge
Yes you can try this routine 👍
I am suffering from same issue did you find it beneficial?
Which exercise should we avoid if suffering from stenosis
If you watch the video you can get more clarity. Having said that, in majority of cases you want to avoid back extension.!!
Watch it with fast forward is the best.
Good idea 😃💪
Hi Bob,
What if the stenosis is due to disc herniation? Should we do flexion or extension?
Which one aggravates your pain ? 😃 don’t do that movement 💪👌
How can you tell the difference between a disc bulge and spinal stenosis? My MRI only shows a disc bulge.
Is your MRI report highlighted spinal stenosis !?
@@bobthephysio my mri report says no canal stenosis. It only says I have a slight disc bulge with slight posterior nerve pinch.
