That head unit is better than OEM. You get Bluetooth CarPlay and you can run TH-cam videos. Both make that mod special. I often use TH-cam as a podcast listening to videos but the OEM head unit doesn’t permit you to stream TH-cam content.
I put the T9 (so model before this) in 2 years ago. I don’t know how much has improved between the two models, but I do know the T10 has some solid features like birdseye view camera ability and is more powerful. I will say the stereos can be a little finicky, and it’s pretty much a guarantee that you will spend some time on the Facebook group getting it running just the way you like it. That being said, the features make it totally worth it and a vast improvement over the entune system. If you want you can pick up a Bluetooth OBD2 sensor and display info like trans temp, oil pressure, etc. on the T9/10. The screen does get some serious glare and is hard to see with polarized lenses on, but still worth it IMO
I tried this but it has a parasidic draw and kills my battery the next day. Put the OEM radio back in and its fine. Have yet to figure out the problem, tried many different settings.
My 2022 4Runner had a descent head unit. Has apple car play. Good enough for now. If I had your unit I would install Torque Pro - would be great to see the transmission temp right there

No, you don’t need to be in park. I don’t use Netflix or TH-cam much just due to the nature of having to hotspot etc being a pain in the butt. Downloading for offline use works best in Netflix or put movies on a usb and play using vlc player. The built in media player app can be fussy depending on the codec. Hope that helps

I've been looking at buying a 4Runner SR5 and really want built-in navigation because I have never used Android Auto. Any thoughts? And if I buy a 4Runner SR5 without navigation, would this upgrade actually work as shown in this video?
Trust me - The OEM navigation in my 2018 sr5 Premium is not worth the time to even use it! for 4 years I have used a Garmin just below because the Entunes unit is so worthless. ANY unit you decide to get will be worth the learning curve than using the Toyota OEM unit. Still LOVE my 4Runner (My 5th one) but don't make a decision based on the stock navigation!
I got a 2016 limited with stock head unit when I use navigation driving around Toronto or to the US I hit the navigation button and directions are up and away I go. My question is with this unit will it be as easy as that as well or do I need to have a wifi connection or will it be using data from my phone?
@jeffruiz7728 ..I guess there was no answer for that one even though it's a really good question. I have Nav with my 2023 SR5 Premium and am wondering if it's it's own Nav or going off of my phone solely
I have a 2021 Trail Edition which is basically a Premium SR5 and the Navigation is decent. I just hate you. Any look anything up if the Vehicle is moving. So not even my Passenger can look it up for me. So annoying.
Still works great. I have never done any updates on the software. I’ve only had to use the rst (reset) button twice over the last two years. Reason for pressing the rst button was that the unit wouldn’t connect to my iphone properly. After pressing the button the unit connected no problem. My screen has got a small amount of dust behind it which isn’t noticeable 99.8% of the time only when the sun comes through the side window on a certain angle do I notice it. Also I’ve found that polarized glasses make the unit/screen difficult to see.
It’s a pretty good choice, mines still working. No serious issues just the odd connectivity issue to my phone. But I either restart my phone, the unit, or hit the rst button and it starts working again. Some dust managed to get behind the glass cover which I only notice when the sun is low in the sky and on a particular angle. Also the mic isn’t great but not horrible, and the screen doesn’t work great if you are wearing polarized sunglasses. Other than those things, it’s great
