    I just received our wordly wise books 6 and 8 from Christianbook and I am SO grateful for these tips on how to tackle a lesson. I’m thinking of spreading it out over two weeks as to not overload the schedule.

      I think that is a great idea! I love Wordly Wise, but it can be too much if you have a lot of other things you are working on. I often use it every other week. If I know we are having a busier week, I won't have my son (5th grade, 11 yrs) do IEW that week, but instead do Wordly Wise, since he gets some good sentence writing in, and can do it mostly independently. Spreading it out over 2 weeks would work great too! I ordered the grade 10 book and it has yet to come in, so I'm excited to get a peek at it since my oldest hasn't done Wordly Wise in a couple years.

      @@karlacanon2507 totally agree. After reviewing all our material I noticed it was quite a lot. My oldest is very excited to try wordly wise since she loves learning fancier vocabulary. We will try a 2 week spread and if that seems too much, use it like you said on weeks when we give writing a break 💁‍♀️

    I like the idea of going straight to the reading portion first. Love it!!! I've been considering it as well as another called Vocabulary with Classical Roots. Is your family still using Worldly Wise?

      We are still using Wordly Wise all these years later and still love it! I think it hits on so many different skills, even for high school students!

    Thank you for posting this video. I have been looking into Wordly Wise for my second grader and I am looking for a way to implement it into smaller chunks and not overwhelm him and this is a great idea. I hope you can also post in your description in text format how you do it from Day 1 to Day 5. Thanks so much! I watch a lot of your videos and they are very helpful!

      I'm glad it's helpful, and that's a good idea to type up how I do it! I will work on that! In the past, I have started Wordly Wise in grades 3 or 4 with my kids, and that has worked well for us! It certainly depends on your child though and how confident they are with reading and writing! :)

    Love your tip about reading the story on the first day - i just started doubt WW with my daughter and on the last day she was overwhelmed by doing all the questing and said it was too much and that she liked all the other days but not that one . Thank you i will definitely try doing it your way - glad i listened and i will subscribe to your channel too

    Do you read the story each day or do you try to get them to comprehend it and answer from memory?

    • @karlacanon2507
      @karlacanon2507  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have them read it to me the first day, then after that my kids do it pretty independently. They are welcome to look back over the story whenever they need to find the answers to the questions, but I don't have them read it again, unless they choose to.

    How much time does it take your child to do a day's portion of a lesson? 15 minutes or so? And that's completed in 5 days? So 75 minutes of work time to do a lesson?

      I know for sure it goes up to grade 9, but I am not certain after that. I have ordered from christianbook.com and found it there so you could maybe look there and see if they have any for high school. Let me know if they do! The articles in Wordly Wise are not Christian-based, but I have found every one that we have read to be interesting and completely wholesome!

    Do you use wordly wise as well as fix it grammar? I know you've done review on both. I know fix it grammar includes vocabulary so I'm just wondering if it's too much vocab then or do you use them at different times/rotate between the two?

    • @karlacanon2507
      @karlacanon2507  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I do use them both, but generally not at the same time. I will often spread either of them over 2 years, and then switch back and forth to mix it up and keep it fresh. Both are great curriculum, but I can tell when my kids get burned out on one thing, so then we just switch it for awhile!
