    @4.00, you're spot on, I, too have found there is not so much info out there for older grades, particularly when it comes to reviews. So thank you for doing this level. I appreciate you telling us how you use it.

    Thank you for covering for the older kids!!! No one covers that!! 😀 Do you add anything else for Language Arts or is this the only thing your children do to cover Lang. Arts?

    A little background...we have just realized our son is dyslexic as well as SPD, ASD. Reading is really challenging as well as soaking in the phonics. I'm ordering All About Reading and taking him right back to level one then moving forward. So my question is, do you feel that was he has worked his way back up, will Fix it Grammar be a good fit? I was going to do Bible Heros first also.

    • @karlacanon2507
      @karlacanon2507  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Fix It Grammar will be a great fit, but I would wait until he is confident with his reading. You can see samples online, and until he can read the passages confidently, it would likely be frustrating for him. He will get there though, and the copywork portion will be great for him too!!

    Thank you - this was really helpful! The new improvements are going to make this even easier to use. I'm excited for it. In previous editions, you could access the student book as a digital copy by purchasing the teacher book (there would be a code to allow you to access the digital copy under your IEW account). Is that still the case here? Or do you have to purchase both student and teacher books in this edition?

    • @karlacanon2507
      @karlacanon2507  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! The digital copy of the student book is not an option anymore, so you do need to purchase both the teacher and student books in this edition. I love having them in the spiral bound format so for me it is worth it! :)

    I bought the old version of the nose tree last year. We’re about halfway through it. Can I use the old teachers manual and just buy the new version workbooks? Or do you know if there’s a discount to upgrade?! I love the new updates especially where it lists how many of each item they need to find!!!

    • @karlacanon2507
      @karlacanon2507  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will definitely need the new teacher manual to go along with the new student book as they match up exactly. If you are happy with what you have, I would encourage you to just finish the Nose Tree in the old edition, and move on to book 2 in the new edition! I'm not sure if there is a discount to upgrade but it would be worth calling IEW to ask!

      @@karlacanon2507 Thanks! I will definitely ask! From the samples I see online, it looks like the sentences in the newer version are shorter. Is that the case all throughout the book? Specifically Level 2?

      @@bryndendevenny9875 I wouldn't say they are all shorter, but overall more concise/less wordy.

    Very informative! Thanks so much! We are doing fix it for the first time this year. You mentioned that your kids do this somewhat independently. Do you check over their work each day before they rewrite it or do you trust that they got enough of the mark ups and fixes on their own? Thanks!

    • @karlacanon2507
      @karlacanon2507  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question that I should have addressed in the video! I do check their work every day or every other day, but not before they rewrite it. They mark it and rewrite it, and then I check that they got everything. It's rare that they miss something that affects their writing of the passage. More often if something is missed, it's a part or speech or they have mislabeled something, but the writing part is generally correct.

    Thank you for sharing this! How long would you say the hands-on/teaching time takes each week? And how long do the independent pages typically take your children each day? I have a fourth grader. :)

    Thank you! I have 2 girls that I want to homeschool for the next school year. They will be going to 8th and 9th grade. I am thinking of getting fix it grammar for them. Which level would be good for them?

    • @karlacanon2507
      @karlacanon2507  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depending on their confidence in grammar, I would probably start with level 3. If they are weak in grammar, you could work through level 2 very quickly to build a strong foundation.

    Hello :) my son will be in third grade next year and we have done basic grammar. He knows nouns, punctuation rules etc
    Would level 1 be too advanced for him still ? I initially ordered level 2 as he really likes the story, The Town Mouse and Country Mouse, but now I’m thinking we should start with level 1?

    • @karlacanon2507
      @karlacanon2507  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would definitely start with level 1!! If your son is a confident reader, I think you could start level 1 in grade 3, and just move through it slowly. Personally, I'm going to do level 1 with my 4th grader next year. I have found with my older kids that starting grammar too early is not terribly effective. :)
