"Whos side are you on?" Serge: "On the side of a good game." What an answer. I love him, he's the type of person every game group needs. He's happy for others, loses with dignity, teams up and is polite as fuck. He embraces the game for what it is: a good time with friends.
I briefly brewed a planechase control/chaos deck that tried to churn through the planar deck to find seedcore, then play and recur stifles to prevent any attempt to leave
02:03:17 Just the three of them conspiring to kill Graham scrambling for a chance and Graham sitting there lavishly with the crown on his head. Fantastic
Wheeler is right about the starting plane not triggering, but wrong about what rule matters for it, it's rule 901.5 that states it. only stating this because of how emphatically he stated which rule. XD
well i havent finished the video yet but Syr Kondrad only goes off of your own creatures LEAVING the yard so nelly didnt actually kill graham with that play at the end.
25:37 the game suddenly turns into Judge's Tower 2:03:17 King Graham vs North 100 The unsung hero of the video is Matt... with a video this long I imagine they cut a lot of time from the recording
Surprised this came out after the Aftermath episode. Also, that whirler rogue line was sick. As soon as Wheeler mentioned that he saw a line, I popped out of my chair and said, "Whirler Rogue! That's genius!"
Probably came out later because editing a 2h15 minute video takes a VERY long time, and that’s if you only have a single camera feed! There was probably close to 13 hours of footage, and 16 hours of audio to track for this.
@@castlewise graham said in the discord that the total recorded time was 3 hours 26 mins in total, including a bathroom break and time taken checking rules and getting tokens
I really appreciate the editing for these. I don't feel like I'm missing anything, but the pacing is great! I also just love the LRR crew's playstyle in that it doesn't get bogged down in a ton of politicking.
Great vid guys, although very long it kept being entertaining! Some small rules clarification for the rare people that see this comment: Although Syr Konrad does trigger when a creature is put into any graveyard, it only triggers when something leaves it’s controller’s graveyard. It’s something that gets easily overlooked but as Konrad is a very popular card I thought is was a good thing to clarify this :)
It doesn't end up mattering because Wheeler had some massive overkill but in the endgame it sounds like Nelson took two from Konrad off of two creatures leaving his graveyard, but the leaves-graveyard clause only applies to Konrad's controller's graveyard (despite the two previous clauses triggering off of any creature entering any graveyard). Hell of a card, either way.
Holy, this was propably the perfect commander game, each deck had a moment where it looked like the best deck ever and then we had incredibly narrow lines taking out players this was so much fun to watch.
I'm happy that I caught the line before Wheeler mentioned having seen it, but I'm super impressed that Graham found a way to make it work. I never would have seen that specific sequence.
That plane that kept Serge on lockdown was like a compulsory gym where guys just kept getting swoll and he was rolling praying for a rest day. Did I mention I was watching this episode at the gym.
I miss the days when my playgroup would flip a coin to decide which direction turn order would be. We even had a sleeved turn direction reminder card. I'm only a little surprised when players like Graham mention being uncool with counterclockwise turn order.
Ok, gotta comment now before I finish watching. Wheeler cites the rules number out loud right at the camera. Take my like and my comment right now! I love it. 6:28 Excellent, as always. Thank you.
Heads-up, this is nerd stuff. I just love how close Ben was on the rule for planeswalking trigger. I felt the curious need to see if he was just guessing or not. It is rule 901.5 that states "No abilities of any card turned face up this way trigger during this process." In regards to finding the starting plane(s). 901.11 is the rule stating what planeswalking is and when/how it happens. Surprisingly it does not take a subsection to describe that the starting plane is not planeswalked to.
Such a glorious game to watch. All of the chaos, all of the back and forth. Serge's pure joy at the seedcore doing weird stuff. This game really cheered me up after a depressed morning.
I took a break from the video for a few days because I was busy, I came back to finish it. The second the turn order passed backwards I did a triple take like “what? what????? oh right”
Brimaz has very quickly become my pet deck, it can get really scary really quickly so you've got to manage your threat rate otherwise you'll get focused really quickly!
Great game! I've very proud of myself for seeing the line just before Wheeler did, and for the same reason: when Graham tapped the two thopters. It helps that Whirler Rogue is one of my favorite cards.
Watching the three judges talk through all kinds of nonsense from the layers of effects in order to just keep track of everything going on prior to talking through what that does is beautiful. Their brains were leaking out of their ears before 30 minutes had passed and it was glorious.
I once won a game with Glimmervoid Basin and Lightning Helix. I gained 80+ life, killed nearly everything on the board, and one of my opponents (who was at exactly 3 life.)
There are times during this game if I can't tell if this is Commander or Judge's Tower. This was truly the most aptly named chaos and I am so here for it
25:35. Well, I think this begins to explain the runtime. . XD;. Wheeler, Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you. Much Chaos. Such madness. Such a delight XD!
Amazing game. Sidenote: I so want them to intro sometime with something like, "You've made it! Over the river and through the wood to Grandmother- Wait, no. To the Elder Dragon Social Club!" Would make my day.
"With the planes trigger on the stack, I'll respond" got so ridiculous in my pod, we made it a house rule to not be able to respond once the dice is rolled. It enables more strategy, and interesting situations, and keeps the spirit of the chaotic nature of planechase a little, i feel.
Watching this inspires me to be a better commander player in so far as I'd like to be as open, generous and fun an opponent as I've seen you all be on this show :). I'd also like to be as competent but eh, that's a matter of time ;)
I am 25 minutes into this episode, I've already had to pause because I was laughing too much and I just noticed the runtime again. BRB making popcorn for this beauty.
I would love to see these guys play the Treasure Cruise version of commander that Prof played in the most recent episode of Shuffle Up and Play. I think that Wheeler would legitimately go crazy for that value.
This is the video that convinced me, someone who hasn't played Magic since Urza block, to hit up Card Kingdom to see if Wizards ever made a mono-black non-nezumi legendary rat that would make a good commander. So I could build the ridiculous Relentless Rats deck that's been sitting in the back of my mind for years. And as it turns out, they have! And very recently, too! So now I have one of every different version of Karumonix: The Rat King that they had in stock on the way.
Man, I'm thinking about dryad arbor being a reprint in one of these commander decks, and how it hilariously probably wouldn't make the price change because you know wizards will change the art.
"Whos side are you on?"
Serge: "On the side of a good game."
What an answer. I love him, he's the type of person every game group needs. He's happy for others, loses with dignity, teams up and is polite as fuck. He embraces the game for what it is: a good time with friends.
I aspire to have a tenth of the self respect Serge had saying "Good turn Serge" after taking the crown.
The Zhalfir knight deck getting repeatedly skipped in turn order is actually incredible flavor
likewise with having a hard time trying to planeswalk anywhere
Due to a time distortion, no less!
And the fact that he still won is insane
Is you pfp Kermit?
I really want to see a game of Seedcorechase where Norn's Seedcore is permanently in effect.
I have been informed this was called "the Phyrexian invasion of the multiverse" and was regarded as a bad thing
Fantastic
Serge’s transition through all the stages of grief when talking to the planechase dice is great
Wheeler is right about the starting plane not triggering, but wrong about what rule matters for it, it's rule 901.5 that states it. only stating this because of how emphatically he stated which rule. XD
I appreciate your pettiness. (Yes, seriously! 😆)
Strictly true, but you can also kind of infer it from how they word 901.11.
Wheeler is a force of nature. He played the last ten minutes of that game practically by himself. Holy moly.
Wow, that line by Wheeler. It didn’t end up mattering but I don’t think I ever would have spotted it.
It was honestly impressive
The whirler rogue? People often skim over the fact it's ANY creature- Not any you control, just creatures period.
well i havent finished the video yet but Syr Kondrad only goes off of your own creatures LEAVING the yard so nelly didnt actually kill graham with that play at the end.
@@Sagemastar He sacrificed a creature. That part triggers Konrad

So, for those playing Gimbal in the future. You use the bounce lands as repeatable Aid From the Cowl and Landfall Triggers by bouncing themselves.
Oh wow. That's awesome.
Graham: Don't look at the runtime!
Me: Why? Its just an ordinary OH MY GOODNESS! SQUIDWARD!
I felt personally called out when he said that as I was lifting my finger to look at the runtime lol
Meanwhile me having already looked at the run time before starting the video "OH NO"
I tend to watch other LRR stuff that runs 2-3 hours so I was thinking "is that long?"
25:37 the game suddenly turns into Judge's Tower
2:03:17 King Graham vs North 100
The unsung hero of the video is Matt... with a video this long I imagine they cut a lot of time from the recording
yeah, what this game had to be over 2 1/2 hours maybe over 3? 4 without editing? who knows.
The 3 Headed Judge vs Archenemy Monarch Graham was a great moment.
Well this was one of the most amusing Commander games I've seen in a while. Thanks for the game.
The moment where Wheeler says "oh of course-- Hot oil!" and wiggles the crown is both adorable and hilarious.
Every episode of EDSC brings joy to my day.
1:36:21 Look at the flavour text on Dance With Calamity!
"It was just another day on Innistrad"
...with food, treasures, and clues galore! :V
Surprised this came out after the Aftermath episode.

Graham: which goblin tokens are the most Jundy?
*procedes to pick the literal Jund goblin tokens*
I guess they’re pretty jundy!
Graham: Who's side are you on?
Serge: I'm on the side of a good game
Amen!
since the gremlin tokens are artifact creatures, I can only assume Gimbal is a Gremlin Prodigy in that they are a Prodigy in making Gremlins.
Props to the editor who had to edit this. 2 hours bloody hell. Also engagement!
Who knows how long the raw footage was...
@@castlewise graham said in the discord that the total recorded time was 3 hours 26 mins in total, including a bathroom break and time taken checking rules and getting tokens

I also just love the LRR crew's playstyle in that it doesn't get bogged down in a ton of politicking.
I thought I was tuning in for a normal episode. Then Wheeler rolled chaos a second time, I looked at the runtime and buckled in for a ride
I just watched a Stark put on a crown and suddenly this seemed way more Game of Thrones than MOM.
I'm not sure who is editing this one but the "Face of Contentment" got me xD 58:03

58:04 is something I never thought I'd see
I choked when Serge talked about killing Wheeler after the uno reverse

It actually didn't end up mattering because Syr Konrad would recoup the missing 2 damage with its 7 power.

Graham would rather gamble with the top of his deck twice in one turn than cast his commander and make a blocker. 👀
High roller spotted.
