Everyone says they wished they could build a time machine and go back to the 80s. I was a teen in the 80s and it was great! Everyday I get into my time machine by coming to TH-cam
Exactly. If this is as close as we're gonna get to a time machine, I'll take it :) I still remember the first time i heard this song. It became an instant favorite.
I'm so happy i grew up in the 80s Good times. Good memories. 80s heavy metal was the best ever hands down. God i miss my young teen days in the 80s. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
these were the greatest songs written. BUT, you had to have lived wham they were written, and sung. The times were different then...its REALLY hard to explain...but these songs reached the deepest parts of your soul as almost every song was relatable to thru either a lost love, or just simply a situation that you had gone though,or are going through at the time you heard them. for me,... this is what i grew up with... and i was privileged to see these bands live, and the songs sounded the same as the did on the "album"...i just feel bad for those who never had the chance to live then, to have hadlthe chance to see such a performance as these, all these bands once gave...i know i will NEVER forget the shows i saw!》
You said this so perfect....I was privileged to open for them twice, once in a club and once at the Celebrity Theatre. Both nights were epic. They are such cool guys
Fly away and broken schemes..fly.. can you please help me to get the piano score for this.. I have a 11 year old girl who has come to me for lessons and I think this would be beautiful for a 11 year old
How in the world was this song not a huge hit I will never understand. It is so much better than most of the power ballads that did make the top ten on the billboard chart. This song is perfection to me. The singing, piano, and guitar solo is amazing.
It's beautiful. The guitar solo is amazing and to me this song was a hit. I listened to it 20 years ago over and over...today I am listening to it again.
They were #9 in 1987,88, 89, 90, 91, 94 and 99 and Angel SOng tore up MTV charts and awards. During the 80s this stuff wasnt played on the radio, no streaming or itunes. They got top ten w no radio play.. THATS a fan base ;)
House of Broken Love and this song................If it doesn't tear you up, then everything is perfect in your life...lol. These two songs, in my opinion are top 5 all time. THEY ARE SO PHENOMENAL!!!
I love Great White too, sadly there are 2 versions now. I still take Jack Russell's Great White over the other version, he tackled his demons and has been sober now for years. He still sounds great too. I sing along to their old songs like this every few days, am a singer because I simply love to sing. But yeah this song definitely gives all the feels...
Were they though? Once Bitten went platinum, and Twice Shy went double platinum, and they were all over MTV and playing huge shows. I'd say they were pretty famous and successful?

you so said it!!! I'm glad Im 43 and was able to appreciate the music while I was young. today's crap is just that with exceptions. linkinpark 3 days grace etc
I have a 15 year old son. He was so excited to see Motley Crue twice. He wants to go see Def Leppard. I'm trying to gather the money. He has seen them before. He loves Poison. You might laugh but me being 39 got him into Black Veil Brides. If you are looking for amazing bands like the 80's 90's stuff.... Crashdiet is like a modern Skid Row. Negative is just amazing. Reckless Love, kind of cheesy but fun. These bands are from Sweden and Finland. I go to Finland every year. My friend is in a band called Groupie High School over there. I can keep up with those youngins lol At least for a few weeks.
Thank you Sandra Moore, I found these bands as well from Sweden and they're really cool bands with that 80's "glam" "Hair" Rock!! style. : Crazy Lixx, Loud N' Nasty, Vains of jenna. I don't know if they are still active, but they have great music in Sweden they call it “sleaze rock” . Keep Rock Alive!!!
There are no words that could try to convey the chasm that is in my heart listening to this and thinking about my wife i lost to cancer when she was only 27. she was beautiful and i am glad that she knew how much she meant to me. She never had to wonder about what her husband thought. This was a song that we shared our deepest longings and achieved so much to. Fly lonely Angel.
That is heartbreaking. I'm so sorry you lost her so young. I hope you were able to find happiness again. I'm sure she is lovingly watching over you. This is a hauntingly beautiful song.
+Sandra Moore Thank you and God Bless your heart. There is a tragic story, more so than you could imagine with this. Maybe one day i will come to grips with it. There have been many, many nights of thoughts of what i wish i could have done and the pain of feeling helpless. I encounter these again when i hear this song. She was precious to me. The comfort comes from the fact that i know that there is no doubt she knows how much she was loved and adored. I have found happiness again. The Lord blessed me with a sweet loving wife that i love very much. I have made a dedication to the Lord in my soul to let her know everyday how much she is loved and cared for and that there is nothing i would not do for her. I am so thankful and blessed. I do not speak about the horror of watching someone i loved so deeply die right before my eyes and being helpless to stop her suffering. i have never endured such mental strain it changed me forever. But, i would be remiss if i did not acknowledge what i feel when i hear this song. It is strange how beautiful it is yet torturous to my soul. My wife now knows what it did to me and we move on. But i will never forget the secrets that were shared and the love we had.
She knew love in her short life, she was lucky to have you. It hard to remember that it was supposed to happen, because it did happen. I hope you are reunited in heaven. I am sorry for your loss.
Been a Great White fan from the beginning and was lucky enough to meet and hang out with them last year after a show for a few hours. These boys are so real and genuine with their fans. Thanks guys for some great music and will be seeing you again in August!! Luv ya.
Know they don't make music like this anymore. They are a fantastic band. And Music now days. On the car radio. I can't believe half the stuff they put on the Radio. My goodness.

Saw these guys twice. One of the best bands I ever saw in the 80's-90's. Singer is absolutely amazing. Didn't get credit they deserved. Check them out covering Zepplin tunes & you will become a believer.
I was a teenager when Led Zeppelin released their first album, and you'll get no argument here from me. Great White was absolutely one of my favorite bands of the 80's.

this song...the lyrics, the music, the vocals, the guitars, the percussion and then that keyboard solo, followed by the guitar solo in the middle--its a masterpiece. my eyes are rarely dry when i hear it. very moving. its hard to imagine its the same guys singing "twice shy". thanks guys, i'm sorry for your loss in that tragic fire.
This is a song that I have a hard time with. I have dedicated this one song to several friends who were killed from a person who was DUI and they were on vacation and worked as Husband and Wife at a law firm I once worked at. It still bothers me but In honor of them I play this in a dark room with the Doors open to my Patio so I can hear the song echoing outside in hopes this song reaches them where ever they went. I have another song for a teacher I use to have in High School she too was killed by a DUI driver and I play the Crocket Song from Miami Vice for her. This is the only reason why I will not drink alcohol ever. Everyone in my family does like to drink but I choose not too. I seen too many lives ruined by it.
David S Bless your heart! I'm so sorry for your tragic losses! I'm so proud of you for not drinking! I've seen so much sadness from alcoholics! ❤Take care!
The first time I heard this song, I thought I was listening to Robert Plant. Upon discovering that it was Great White, I delved deeper into their catalog. Phenomenal band. Underrated.
Yo dude and the group have so many good song. he can sing!! damn he can sing and every song set it's own mood. I was born in the 80s. rock at it's best during the time.
saw great white and whitesnake together at the notre dame campus 1985, what a show! great thing about the 80's bands is what you heard on the album is you got at the show! great times!
I've been listening to this and other songs of my teen years lately and it's amazing the vivid images they conjure up. A tape with Great White, Aerosmith, The Quireboys, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Vixen, Gorky Park, Scorpions, Steve Vai, David Lee Roth or something similar in the walkman and just walking home along an dusty dirt road from highschool or sitting on a low pier with your feet splashing in the water and the sun beating down on a hot summerday with not a care in the world. Man, time sure does fly.
Oh the days of long flowing hair, beautiful women and rock ballads that transcend time ! Great White were MASTERS of rock and i admire the power and subtle nuances of their playing. Jack , Mark and the band were KINGS in my youth and i never focused on them at the time .I was fixed on Metal (Sabbath, Priest, Maiden and DIO) and found my way to RocknRoll Heaven only to look back in awe now at some of the music that i couldnt see then. Thanks for sharing...it can make a difference !
I remember when I first heard this... my love of life my wife of 20 years died suddenly on a beautiful Saturday and I was devastated and lost. Cried constantly. Shut down and numbed myself for days and days. Then it was as if someone guided me to this amazing song. Thank you Jack Russell. Your voice is phenomenal and this saved me. Spread the love people. Your whole life can change in 25 minutes.... memories remain
Definitely one of my fav GW songs...the piano sounds like gentle sobbing then the guitar comes in with a full on wail. Beautifully haunting and emotional song. 👍🏼

Fallen angel ripped and bruised
Think on better days
Life is rude, treats you bad
Tears your wings away
Raise your eyes to star and sky
Believe in fly always
Take your dreams, your broken schemes
And sweep the past away
Fly lonely angel
High above these streets
Fly lonely angel
Far away from mad desire
Hollywood ain't paved with gold
It's just a trick of light
Sunset falls on stars of old
And blinds you with its light
A spiders web of tangled lives
Lays stretched across the hills
From distances it's glistening
Like El Dorado's halls
Fly lonely angel
High above these streets of fire
Fly lonely angel
Far away from mad desire
The dream was light
And fragrant nights
But how were you to know
The streets are hard
They're mean and scared
Where only fools find gold
Fly lonely angel
High above these streets of fire
Fly lonely angel
Far away from mad desire
Fly lonely angel
Spread your wings another way
Fly lonely angel
Find a better way
A better day

@@armyretired28 yes Heidi Peralta. Was a tumultuous time in my life since I had gotten to know all of them. God bless them all.
you so said it!!! I'm glad Im 43 and was able to appreciate the music while I was young. today's crap is just that with exceptions. linkinpark 3 days grace etc
+Jessica Young So totally agreed. Music today lacks heart and the soul that it had back then
I have a 15 year old son.
Jessica Young 47 years old and still remember it like when I was 20.
Class o' '89 here...;)
Hauntingly beautiful. I love their sound and wondered also why this song wasn’t a major hit. 💗🕊
+Sandra Moore
Thank you and God Bless your heart.
I am sorry for your loss.
my deepest sympathies with you,i could never understand what feels like, but god be with u n your thoughts ,God bless you.
+senzo tanaka
God Bless your sweet heart.
I love this song. It's hauntingly beautiful. These guys are so talented! If I had anyone left I would have them play it at my funeral. Everyone's gone.
One of the best rock ballads EVER!!!!
Actual musicians, actual composition, actual artistic expression.
These era will outlast everything after it. 🤘

Mitchell Davis and you are an idiot.... js

The lead guitar 🎸 player is a legend all by himself. I always admired his talent.
That voice is unique and beyond amazing.
I can't lie, i'm sitting here pretty stunned right now.

@@jackrussell4174 Thank YOU for all the awesome work with Great White! Your music helps me through the tough times, and pumps me up in the best!
They were supposedly much better live than most other bands.
There will never be music better than the 80's rock and roll. Love it. Meant something back then, and still does today.
This gave me goosebumps that whole way through. Beautiful!!
Rock ballads don't get any better than this....raw heartfelt emotion... incredible melody.. awesome keyboards...great riffs...We really miss Jack Russell..get well soon Jack!!
Epic. One of the best bluesy rocknroll bands ever.
In my opinion, one of the best ballads ever written...this song is so awesome, over 30yrs old but still awesome...the piano lines and solo were incredible...great white rules...

Franki Anthony- I beg to differ! The piano solo is the BEST part!! 2:23 Michael Lardie plate so amazing- it touches my soul every time I listen to it!!💞🎹🎶
@@nancybuist0328 Yes the piano solo is totally awesome..however one cannot dismiss how the piano solo leads to the chilling crying of the electric guitar 🤩 Please get me a time machine 😊

God I love this group..!!!!!!!
so pure, so honest, so genuine.
Definetely one of the best 80s ballads ... between Mark Kendall bluesy leads and Jack Russel fantastic vocal performance ,this song takes your heart 💙
So sorry for your loss. Beautiful tribute. I lost my high school sweetheart and husband of 30 years. He introduced me to Great White
Sorry about that David.Great tribute though.
still the top group
Thats really gay of you David.
David S Bless your heart! I'm so sorry for your tragic losses! I'm so proud of you for not drinking! I've seen so much sadness from alcoholics! ❤Take care!
David S sorry for your lose. May your friends rest in peace.
such a lovely ballad....remains in my heart forever !
I will forever be a rock n roll creature. And this was some of the best
The first time I heard this song, I thought I was listening to Robert Plant. Upon discovering that it was Great White, I delved deeper into their catalog. Phenomenal band. Underrated.
I remember trying to teach myself the piano from this song...so beautiful.
I was trying so hard
I love this, don't care what year it is....now I love it and always will
Yo dude and the group have so many good song. he can sing!! damn he can sing and every song set it's own mood. I was born in the 80s. rock at it's best during the time.
The piano and guitar solos are things of beauty
Dude... How can ever forget this time... NEVER!!!
saw great white and whitesnake together at the notre dame campus 1985, what a show! great thing about the 80's bands is what you heard on the album is you got at the show! great times!
TheTruthseeker59 I was at that concert also great bands great music
This is and will always be the one and only Great White!
Thanks Jack and the band for so many kick ass songs!
Jack Russell is such a kind and generous person. Probably the most talented musician in the genre. He has such great stories to share
Just a awesome late 80's ballad..What more could you need?
Oh the days of long flowing hair, beautiful women and rock ballads that transcend time !
Great White were MASTERS of rock and i admire the power and subtle nuances of their playing. Jack , Mark and the band were KINGS in my youth and i never focused on them at the time .I was fixed on Metal (Sabbath, Priest, Maiden and DIO) and found my way to RocknRoll Heaven only to look back in awe now at some of the music that i couldnt see then. Thanks for sharing...it can make a difference !
The piano solo is so beautiful, and haunting, as well as Mark Kendall’s guitar solo! 👼
your fave pops, listen to and miss you......good song !!!
God I love this song!! I love the melancholy feeling I get from it....
80's, I was there and I can fell the music...
BACK>From a magical time, kids>back when REAL music rule the universe. We who lived it-now call them HELLADAYS.
This was the FIRST piano music sheet I ever bought- LOVE THIS SONG!~!
one of the greatest rock n roll ballads of all time.
Definitely one of my fav GW songs...the piano sounds like gentle sobbing then the guitar comes in with a full on wail. Beautifully haunting and emotional song. 👍🏼
great white...keep riding the storms of freedom
Absolute masterpiece !!
incredible. one of my all-time favorite 80's bands doing one of their best ballads. I had the pleasure of seeing them live 3 times over the years and to this day still one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
