Scarecrow, consistently the coolest super villain that'll go down in one punch.
That's the special thing about him and Joker; if they weren't so smart and always ahead, they wouldn't stand a chance
@Simpthony Thottano it depends on what version but without a doubt Batman can best Joker
@@fishcake8081 Joker is your sleep paralysis demon's sleep paralysis demon

The Scarecrow from the 1968 cartoon is unironically more terrifying than the modern Scarecrows
topster888 nah the first 1978 was
Those fucking blank black eyes are scary AF
I like arkham knight scarecrow because of how calm he speaks and his mangled face under the mask

@@Dabajaws agreed
“I’ll rather scare you to death, but this will have to do” *instantly got defeated* -Scarecrow
Scarecrow is one of the best looking villains of all time imo. His classic outfit, although not as scary, still looks cool for its time. I love the whole grim reaper design with the hood and the scythe and his arkham knight design is awesome, it just screams fear.
yeah, but I kinda dislike him being jacked af
He has a scary face though
Jagger Django True.
The best outfit is for the 1997 version even though I do love how the Arkham game scarecrow has the Freddy Kruger glove with syringes.
And then there's Injustice 2 Scarecrow, who's voiced by Freddy Krueger.
I personally think Jeffery Combs did the best job at being genuinely frightening in the role. It wasn't forced or a spooky voice, it was scary because of how simple it was. Calm and collected no matter what.
Jeffry Combs steals the show in every role he plays. He absolutely epitomized Herbert West, becoming an icon of the whole Lovecraft community, and he brings that simmering kettle of quiet tension wherever he goes.
Yeah, Scarecrow's voice should always sound naturally creepy.
Dude went from the power to mind-control crows and laser away utility belts to just, making people scared. Lol.
LagiNaLangAko23 so you're telling me that design in the 60's wasn't scary at all?
LagiNaLangAko23 the first one is the most terrifying..
He went from cringeworthy to JESUS CHRIST WHAT THE FUCK AAAAAAAA
Fear can be powerful
Not to mention very manipulative. In Arkham Knight it made Batman think Barbra died.
The first one looks like a joker rip off
Exactly
Ikr
E ya it dose
the act he does in the first one isn't even about fear, it's just a show and it looks like something that the joker would do.
The first one looks terrifying. Those eyes are so blank.
1997 is my favorite design, he seems more like a tormented person, that wants to inflict the pain he feels to others. Over just a zombie
Zombie priest.
No he looks like a scarecrow
Lol he’s a zombie in 97
Fr
1:06 I’m guessing that was Crime Alley. And pretty dramatic and ominous for a late 70’s cartoon.
That version came out in 1984. It added Cyborg, Firestorm, and the New Gods, particularly Darkseid.
seatspud Alright, how about we call it foreshadowing?
And it was the first time the Death of the Waynes was depicted in any media so that was EXTRA serious.
@@curticcarmichael3580 how’s that foreshadowing?
"This is where I watched my parents die Scarecrow"
Can we all agree the green scarecrow was odd? I mean adding glasses when he’s just casually standing was amazing tho
Assault on Arkham looked pretty interesting, it's a shame he didn't get shown for longer.
He also shows up in the Arkham asylum game.
It’s basically the Arkham asylum design except animated
Assault on Arkham was more about suicide squad
@@damaniresida9887 yeah they take place in the same universe if I am correct? And isn’t implied deadshot killed Waller or am I remembering wrong
@@thrawnedits5860 The locations and designs is based of the Arkham games, but I don't think it's in the same universe.
Arkham Knight's Scarecrow is the best depiction of Scarecrow imo.
Rxckless
I can agree with this. Imo cillian murphy scarecrow is a good second.
In Arkham Asylum is better imo.
No, New Batman Adventures is by far the best, if I saw that in real life I'd run the hell away.
I prefer his redesign in Btas
(The 4th season version if your confused)
@@tadeusztadek6816 I don't understand why so many think so. His portrayal in AK is of a mastermind, a man who is acrually scary as he has everything under control and manipulates everyone and even wins in the end. His cold and calm demeanor work alot better than the crazy hobo he was in Asylum. I still enjoy that version, but it is weak in comparison to how he is in AK. In that he barely needs the toxin, he goes off on information alone.
Jeffrey Combs is my favorite scarecrow. The fact that he's always so calm and not over the top just makes him so creepy
1:58 This is the perfect Scarecrow voice. It's calm and controlled witch don't fit his appearance. But that just make it that much more scary and it's amazing!!!
The New Batman Adventures absolutely nailed Scarecrow's looks.
It's too bad they don't use scarecrow that often he has so much potential especially in animation
I absolutely LOVE the Jeffrey Combs iteration of Scarecrow; The whole undead preacher thing is a good style for a Master of Fear.
“He’s doing great with the scarecrow act. Even got the voice down.”
..
What voice?
reference to oz scarecrow
@Brian Ludwig Nah,they can talk but only if you water them regularly^^
What Mouth? - Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Ah yes, my favorite Scarecrow quote:
*"Gothamites, there is no money anymore."*
Well, this is the scariest sh*t you can ever hear
Kadies an gentleman we are here for the nobelist of all sediments charity!
He appeals to their fear of communism.
Jeffery Combs' Scarecrow is so scary that few people actually notice that his weapon of choice is just a simple wooden stick.
I like how you can see a evolution on the Scarecrow going from a silly crook to a fearful antagonist.
Emphasis on fear.
Aaaaaaaawwww!!! You missed the *other* version of the *Scarecrow* of *Batman The Animated Series.*
I remember I been really disappointed by that random change: less scary, less detailed, less... appealing.
Eeyup. That one precisely.
BETMARKonTube It was probably voiced by the same actor
Yeah I was like he missed one. Glad others noticed too.
Still you felt the need to answer... it means you care enough.
Also, other people shared their thought with me, so THEY care and that makes your comment pointless.
I did, but there's nothing... what do should I see?
I love Jeffrey Combs' Scarecrow. He gave him a really creepy voice that fits his appearance.
"I don't need strength, as I obtained the power of *fear.* "
-Scarecrow.
You missed the first Batman TAS Scarecrow, they've revamped him 3 times in the series ;).
Scarecrow. One of the only designs that The New Batman Adventures got right.
Dalton Bishop maybe JUST MAYBE if they kept jokers face similar, and did the purple/green suit, it'd look less like drakken from Kim possible.
Honestly, I don't care for the TNBA. The reason being that he doesn't so much look like a scarecrow as a zombie farmer.
Adam Hoffman they made him how he was intended. Menacing, scary, and intimidating. Besides zombies would be great at being scarecrows.
That guy who likes Legos :P I like what they did with Jokers design in Batman Beyonds Return of The Joker.
I never really thought the Scarecrow himself was supposed to be scary. What he showed you with the fear gas was. I always figured that Johnathan Crane himself even in costume was supposed to be kind of a scrawny, unimpressive wimp, which is why he loved fear so much and why he had to lean on that gas all the time. But I guess everyone's got their own view of it. As far as I'm concerned, the one design TNBA got right was the Penguin.
0:47 Edna Mode: NO CAPES!
Matt Fabbs no capes
that joke is so overused
She would be happy in Batman Beyond.
Least annoying transition out if the series
The 1997 scarecrow is scary as hell-
The calmness of the voice, the weird, dead look to him
Oh and the fact he has a damn rope around his neck-
Kind of a shame Jeffrey Combs couldn't continue as Scarecrow in The New Adventures...but given that he was doing double duty on Star Trek DS9 as Weyoun and Brunt, I can see where that got in the way.
Best guy to play Scarecrow, though.
He could - Jeff Bennett just did the laugh
1:19 DEAD PARENTS! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
psicologic trap
Jaboodydubs
that's why he looked sad when he visited the alley, it reminded him of his tragedy of losing his parents.
Is it just me or does The Adventures of Batman Scarecrow look like Ronald McDonald?
Scarecrow / Jonathan Crane your me
And you're me.
Where the hell did all these likes come from?
Scarecrow / Jonathan Crane Well this seem strange.
Very strange indeed, fellow Scarecrow.
The 1997 was my favorite in looks and voice acting.
@4:54 oh no he's kinda cute
1:34 even though it's the same guy who voices it there was an initial look for the scarecrow in Batman the animated series that was also done by Henry Polic II. It was very thin lanky and his mask was just a simple burlap sack looking thing with no straw but it's still gave off the impression of being a scarecrow.
Scarecrow is really underrated. They should bring him back into the DC cinematic universe
Scarecrow isn't in the DCEU and never was
Cilian Murphy in the Nolan Trilogy
With the way things are now they'd make him a female scarecrow that is a sympathetic villain or something...
Let's wait until this wave of trash movies passes, and we return to good movies.
@@PrimordialNyxMaybe you just need to watch more movies in general.
4:59 scarecrow with glasses is something I thought would never happen.
Yet here we are now.
This was great! Scarecrow is my favorite Batman villain, it was nice to see how much he has changed in the cartoons :) I think I would like to see a Games version of this next... Either way, nicely done!
You should do the Evolution of Scarecrow in Games!
Edit: Woah, 60 likes, I didn’t expect this to happen!
Another Edit: 142 LIKES, HOLY SCARECROW, YOU GUYS REALLY LIKE THIS COMMENT DON’T YOU?!
That Scarecrow Fan Scarecrow is way better in the Arkham game, he didn't scare me as much as his Batman the animated series version did.
scarecrow from arkham knight would win hands down
Reginald Skulls Ikr, when I was playing Arkham Knight with my cousins, all of us were confused when Joker came out for the first time. We all thought it was the toxin, so we thought it was temporary. After playing the rest of the game, however, we all realized we were ALL wrong. So TERRIBLY WRONG.
I bet that smexy avatar is why you're getting so many likes.
William Falls Well, I guess being a fan of ‘The Master of Fear’ was amazing after all.
he started as Lemongrab, but by 1997 was the Lich
Jeffery Combs was the perfect voice actor for scarecrow
In Batman: The Animated Series Scarecrow actually had a slightly different look in his first appearance than he did in later episodes.
His first appearance in the episode "Nothing to Fear" His mask and gloves where bit lighter in color and his eyes were white slits, the mask also lacked the any hay under the hat and his mouth was a black slit without any visible teeth. www.oafe.net/yo/art/dcdbtas5crw2.png
the 97 version is the most terrifying one.
Scarecrow from “The Brave and The Bold” was cool.
My favorite Batman villan
2:50 - That Scarecrow is fucking badass
1:39, this is the fear of every Gen Z kid today
Would you like to see my mask?
"Didn't you know, Dark Knight? You can't fight fear."
I use it in my experiments.
Why does scarecrow's voice in the first one remind me of Lemongrab?
The New Batman Adventures is my favorite of these designs.
*Most scariest character in Batman's universe,*
*I think. He used to played with the people feelings by injecting a toxin who made them experiment a real suffering, the kind of emotional and heart attacking, that became their most hidden fears in real nightmares... Truly evil and very, very, very, very clever boy.*
I have never seen the green Scarecrow before now, but the bit with the glasses has me in love. When did he become a sassy anime character? XD
Grey Highlighter he is coot and a villain bean
I liked playing Scarecrow in The Lego Batman Videogame, running around and throwing pumpkins. He got no talents there, but it still was fun.
0:51 anyone remember back when old superhero shows had extremely convenient gadgets for no other reason than to have them? Bat-credit card... bat-shark spray...
Scarecrow: "Fear is the glue that holds society together."
Doofenshmirtz: "Lies are the glue that hold society together."
Looks like Dr. D took notes from the Scarecrow, huh?
Scarecrow has always been a major villain among Batman 's rogues gallery. I prefer the Scarecrow with a hat or the gas mask with the hoodie, but not the trend started by the Cris Nolan movies.
AGREED. Mask + suit = lazy as shit.
to be fair tho he was going for a more realistic thing tho and scarecrow does sometimes just wear a scarred bag mask
Is it me, or do i really like the scarecrow's first design in tas in 1992?
Do a evolution of Riddler
Amolina44
Yesss
he did.
@@thuongbuianhhedgefishsuppo7550 Dude, the comment was from 3 years ago
Scarescrow is best Batman"s Villian!!
She-Venom Hes number one !
I agree
The Joker is the best villian
Bane is definitely the best of the bunch.
She-Venom yeah my faves gotta be
1. Killer Croc
2. Scarecrow
3. Bane
Joker's cool n all but I prefer these guys
The 1997 Scarecrow is by far the most terrifying in design
Can you do one for Riddler, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, and Killer Croc?
The Scarecrow looks like he belongs in Silent Hill. He does, after all, thrive on fear.
Who's idea was it to make the scarecrow buff?
Evolution of TwoFace or Penguin!
0:44 the original Birdemic.
I love how Superman just acknowledges that he’s suddenly afraid of heights
Tim Curry would have made a great Scarecrow
While I'm tired of seeing "Default British/English Scarecrow" everywhere, I'll have to agree with you on that one! No one can play a smooth-talking villain like Tim.
I miss the Harley quinn cartoon scarecrow
00:19 nightmare
0:07 Sweet Jesus! This design (+ old animation) personally freaks me out.
The first ones actually kind of scary.
Scarecrow is actually just Batman's Drug Dealer
That was so cool, could you do an evolution of the Riddler next?
Evolution of Deathsrtoke
Laureano Orea is there enough tho?
Victoria Dixon Not if you only focus on the animated incarnations.
There can be enough if video games are included.
But in movies&TV series
1:59
Well, that’s the creepiest LOOKING Scarecrow I’ve seen so far. Too bad he’s weak as all hell..
He’s always weak dude, he is super smart
Damn 68 and 78 versions looks the creepiest
I'm agree
2:02 IDK why but this is my favorite version of Scarecrow
Nobody talking about Gotham Knight?… underrated move tbh
He's my favorite villain and I love the fact how he looked so... not scary before and now terrifying
Ted Knight? The Judge from Caddyshack? Well, at least we know what chemicals messed up Carl the Groundskeeper so much...
5:39 ya got me
Jeffrey Combs is the best voice actor for Scarecrow in my opinion.
The retro one is honestly really terrifying while also still looking like a scarecrow. I think we have a winner ó.0
Evolution of Cheetah in Cartoons
My favorite scarecrow is the new adventures of batman one
john noble's voice as scarecrow was so super terrifying, that he would return as the voice of Unicron
Arkham Knight Scarecrow will always be my favorite
I suggest that you do the evolution of Killer Croc or Clayface in cartoons or games.
You’ll need to update soon. Scarecrow will be in “Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo “ being released later this year. Trailer is up on TH-cam.
First one is still the most terrifying.
THAT FACE
This video should be called:
Evolution of the most underrated super villain ever.
Sigh.
Harley quinn in videogames
1997 Scarecrow is the most scary character
1968 is freaking terrifying haha. Batman Arkham Knight is my favorite Scarecrow design. His voice, mannerisms, it's gold.
To make him more underrated they even put him as a main cast in "Happy Halloween Scooby Doo (2020)".
It's a shame he didn't appear in "The Batman" (2004). Imagine how awesome he would have looked in that style. Not to mention that a ton of villains were getting menacing new designs for that series.
He was planned for s4 with other villans there is a concept art for him
@@shadowfire200 wait really?!?!
@@masterklaw4527 yeah you can google it , I think I saw two face some where but I couldn't find his concept art any more
@@shadowfire200 I found the Scarecrow concept art. And it is every bit as awesome as I imagined it.
Really wish we could've seen him n what his origins are since the villains are very different from how they're usually portrayed.
Like Ivy being the same age as Barbara, Harley being a talk show host instead of a actual psychiatrist n Batman having no ties to the Joker's creation
Who else wants Scarecrow as newsreader? XD
