Is Romania's AES10B2 Different From The Cugir Classic AES10B?(Ending My Vacation For RPK Imports)

  • For this topic, i had to break my vacation break, because...RPK stuff you know? Recently, Century & Cugir released the AES-10B2 semi-auto sporter rifle in 7.62x39mm, which automatically made me ask "How is this version different from the original, classic AES-10B?"
So they drug me back into work to compare and contrast, and yet again talk Russian/Comblock LMGs....'oh no! whatever will I do? the horrour, the horrour!' haha.

@@misha5670 Isn't the barrel length on these like 2.2 inches shorter than the other models? Doesn't that make them technically not "true RPK" spec? Or does Romania issue them like that now? But I know it's not such a huge deal or deal breaker for someone that is interested in these. That'd still big me enough that I'd either look for a previously imported batch or wait until a 23.5 in model is imported again.

I'm glad to see that you promote century arms. I know people crap all over century arms. But they really don't make very many other firearms. They generally only import them or they import kits and then build them. That being said I've never had an issue with a century arms firearm. The worst problems I've ever had were with high-dollar firearms like h&k and Kimber junk

Taking a quick look at my 2019 dated AES10B, the only thing that I can spot that is different with these new ones is the gas block appears to have a different profile. The new ones look flatter on the front contour, while the older ones are curved.

I bought an AES-10B more than ten years ago but there is something strange about it. The bipod mounts under the gas tube in front of the hand guard. I have NEVER seen another AES-10B with this feature. The barrel is even milled to accept the bipod in this location, so it isn't a matter of me "mounting it wrong". Also the barrel is noticeably thinner than other AES-10B rifles. Any thoughts?
