What’s cool about the Yugo four-cell pouch with the plastic liner, the back two cells are held together with only some thread at the top. Cutting the thread opens it up so it can accept a 75-round drum. As always,a very informative video. Much appreciated.
Yep, those pouches are roomy to begin with and that back pocket really is just a big single cell more than 2 separate ones. I like the shoulder strap too.
Your mystery mag is North Korean...extremely rare and expensive. You should sell now and use funds to buy something new. Dennis Rodman will authenticate it for you.
Ozark Bear Arms The Commies always like starting troubles, even with the legs of a folding table. Those East German pouches have a nice color pattern. Could it be a Vietnamese or Cambodian pouch?
@@NeptuneBluezI have four cell pouch for 30 rd mags as shown in this video That fits easily into a six cell pouch. (Room for six mags plus the 4 mag pouch.) Both fit into larger bag. All are same design with same style buckles and straps. The camo pattern is the same as shown here. It is East German.
Big fan, I like the set up. You keep answering questions (some I have had, some I have not) the people get harassed for on the Facebook groups. Great stuff for people wanting to enter or learn the AK platform. Great stuff.
I love your channel awesome video extremely informative as usual your knowledge of firearms & equipment is mind blowing keep up the impressive work everytime I watch one of your videos it makes me happier than hell that I subscribed!
In my personal expirience chineese pouch is the moust practical. They are handy and also offer some kind of frontal body protection. For example Yugo's are heavy, even when u fix them on your belt sling will be preashuring shoulder, and in combat situations they move a lot. Usually Yugo soldiers were ishued with two bags. Sorry for my bad english😉
The chinese drums can be preloaded while not being under tension. That button in the center of the drum when opened releases wound tension on the spring. So you could virtually pre-load the drum and only wind it when you go to use it. Afterwards if you hanv'nt exhausted the ammunition, you can release the wound tension by pushing that button and wind again when needed. It only takes a few seconds to wind it. I'm sure the Soviet type is more durable but I would assume has contantant tension when loaded. Idk.
Thank you Sir, I have watched many of your videos but this is my first reply. I was really surprised by the diversity ofAK mags and their pouches. I now have a better idea of what I’m looking for. Thank you, Brad in Dallas
Good video. I found the east German pouches are excellent. They are simple but very durable. I have them on my H harness as well as I use them as extra pouches for backpacking.
@Mishco, @ the 36:30 mark you mention a unknown 4 cell mag pouch. I have the same style though mine is a solid olive with a smooth finish, a thicker white canvas reinforcement inside the front & bottom of the pouches, the toggles are a darker green plastic, and the loops are a lighter olive nylon webbing. The style, and even the stitching appears to be identical to yours, and though I was told it was chinese, and as the toggles remind me of the old wood chinese type 56 pouches further research seems to point to it being Romania from multiple stores, and descriptions. If you have found out for certain I would love to know. I would also love to drive to AR to visit your collection.
I too collect mag pouches. My rarest ones would be my 2 cell white leather Polish "gendermeire" (military police) pouch. I have a Bulgarian parade pouch with red trim, a 3 cell Egyptian pouch, and several blue/purple Romanian police/"naval " 3 cell pouches. And finally, a very early 3 cell East German "bluementarn" camo pouch. I have around 50 pouches of assorted countries and variations. Some even have name tags and writing.
Ozark Bear Arms I've only been into AK rifles for only like 2 years. My closet is looking more like something U.S. soldiers would find in Afghan caves lol. Plz help...
I'd like to see more videos on the accessories for the AK rifle, great video Misha, I am odd and really like the history and variations of the mag pouches out there, the Hungarian leather pouches are very nice. The aluminum waffle's had all aluminum parts, I buy and sell bakelite mags and the Russians recycled parts from them into the bakelites, there are aluminum magazine springs, and followers out there, very common to find in a bakelite mag,
I just bought 2 pancake drums. The only markings I can find are a by- serial number on both. They are marked on the nut on the back, the inside followers, and the back cover. Are these Romanian? I can’t find any info online. Thanks
I have two East German mag pouches, They are the earlier style typically issued with MPi-KM as opposed to the later one with the compartment for an oil bottle, etc. as you typically see associated with the DDR's own AK-74. Mine are the strichtarn pattern whch I belive came out in the late 60s? I believe mine to be earlier production, however I am not sure. I am filming a video of my MPi-KM themed mutt rifle, and will feature them in that video.
Excellent and informative, Thanks for sharing. I do have one question, have you ever seen videos or pictures of so-called bakelite magazines being manufactured. I'm dying to see the process or even hear someone describe the process in deep detail. Thanks
I've got a 30 rd mag ribbed like chinese with a large spine will not fit in my norinco mak-90 nor in i believe was yugo side folder. any ideas on where it or what it was made. Thanks for all videos probably the most comprehensive historical accurate videos available...
Ozark Bear Arms I think you can compare them with the penetration they have in different materials and the speed and precision they both have to hit the targets
Thanks for watching. Yes, we've recorded one on 5.45x39+some of the other random types like Beryl mags already. It will get edited and uploaded here soon. We usually have about a 2-4 week delay between recording and the video going live.
Great video..!! I learned a lot watching this. I have many different pouches...Now I know what country they came from..If you ever decide to sell some 7.62 Bakelites; Please contact me...Thanks...!!
Great vid as usual! I always enjoy the ak vids. The first pouch you showed is actually for a Hungarian AMP-69. The large side pocket is for an optic that was issued with them. These are vary rare, and always in Green, in my experience. I have been looking for one for a Files member for years with no luck. The standard Green Hungy Vinyl 5 cells have a much smaller side pocket. The last pouch is most likely a Romanian pouch built for export during the last Balkans war. There are several types of materiel used in these, all with the barrel and loop closures. I have almost an entire collection of ak pouches. There are listed in the order that I believe they were issued. They can be viewed at the bottom of my Pinterest page by country- www.pinterest.com/tpinfl/ If I can provide anymore info please msg me
Hi Terry, please e-mail me & i'll give you my phone #. I'd love to talk pouches some evening. It is ozarkbeararms@gmail.com . Regarding that first Hungarian pouch, I have more. If they are rare and you want one, no problem. I got them in a big crate of pouches...from Copes I think? about 7-8 years ago. Ditto for Yugo pouches. I've found all kinds of slight but noteable variants/styles among them too. My favorite is the slightly smaller one they did for the M85 and other 5.56mm caliber rifles.
Just looked, and I have more of those Hungarian pouches with the large side pocket. If there's someone out there that would like one for a collection, no problem. Just e-mail me and we can get together on it: ozarkbeararms@gmail.com cheers.
Thanks so much for the offer! I have msg'ed the person looking for it. If I here back from him I'll pass along your email. Thanks again and keep up the great vids!!

OHH the Russian matches my shoes! does it make my mags look to big!?
@@ghostmourn lol
In the mid nineties when I was in Finnish Army, we had canvas 5-cell mag pouches.
Neat, were they similar to the Russian? The only ones I've had here have been the 3 cell.
Quite different from the russian ones. They had 3 cells in the back and 2 at the front. And they were quite thick nylon like canvas material.
My birthday is in November if you want to send me one? hehe
Honestly came here off a joke from Paul P...and have been watching since about 9am. It's now 6 pm. I'm still learning things.

You are truly the ak yoda!
That's a lot of magazines and pouches, very cool collection.
At first, they made one of the table legs fold up/collapse lol.

Very nice job, very interesting
That Hungarian 20 round mag’s Black Leather pouch is cool 😎
Thanks for the very informative video, Misha! You are BY FAR the most underrated gun channel on TH-cam in my opinion.
I have an East German mag pouch I got during the Panama Invasion of 1989 and a Chinese canvas chest rig from Iraq.
Neat
Your content is outstanding
Thanks for watching. We were curious to see how more of a gear type video might do?

I have a Bosnian chest rig that buckles in the front, an a weird homespun vest made from an old JNA jacket with AK mag pouches sewn on front and back.

More great stuff. Glad I found this through Small Arms Solutions.
Thanks much for watching. Yeah Chris is a good guy. We visit and share info regularly.
Not cocky, very informative and thank God not chewing on candy or something while talking. There is some guy out there who thinks that's ok.
Something else worthy of note is many of those pouches are made of linen or flax canvas, not cotton. A few could also be hemp canvas.
Great video! I love all of them for the history of course. For usability price/availability its hard to beat the Chinese pouch & chest rig imo.
Good video. I found the east German pouches are excellent. They are simple but very durable. I have them on my H harness as well as I use them as extra pouches for backpacking.

My guess on the mystery last pouch? NK, which would be a miracle.

How were you thinking on comparing them?

HI
i have to ask an expert
how much are the romanian leather 4 cell ak pouches worth
I'm at 15:00 does he show any 40 round mag pouches?
Over got what I'm told is a four cell Bulgarian pouch. It's OD but has bright red trim. Anyone else run into one of those?
The blind samurai
you mean RPK Paratrooper ;)
Ive always wondered how these compare to more modern single cell pouches
ARE THE LEATHER MAG POUCHES ANY GOOD
Is the hole in the back of the fiberglass magazines a round indicator?
i think so and for stuff that can get into the mag like water or sand
Best AK mag today for 7.62 mm x 39? Circle 10 vs Bakelite?
For durability and reliability? circle10 waffle. For cool factor? bakelite if you're gun sports wood at least.
I’d love to buy a few of those Bakelites or adopt em however you like lol 😂
You are the reason all my gun freinds just don't understand me anymore.. .
excellent video bro!!!
thank you,
opens 2 dollar pouch, 500 dollars worth of Bakelite exposed, like watching a hot chick with leggings just a little too tight.
