l am still in shock but Trevor, thank you for bringing this "gem" on your show....this video will continue to resonate with me deeply. MHSRIP Mr Munatsi.
This is a very inspirational, visionary and hardworking man. I credit him with giving me my start in my career so many years ago as a graduate trainee with ABC Holdings.
Thank you, Trevor. This is really profound. You raise so many important issues that one day our nation will find helpful, hopefully, in our lifetime. The interview is both inspirational and deeply conversational...Through this conversation, we learn that Douglas Munatsi was an embodiment of humility. May his soul rest in peace.
Rule of law is measured by how we treat our own journalists and opposition. How tolerant are we to each other? That's the barometer investors look at. True democracy is appreciating the beauty of diversity. We are one nation. One people.
The truth is Zimbabweans and the world at large are hungry for these promises and whilst you almost sold it to me that there's now "good will " you lost me when you failed to concede sufficiently what was said so eloquently by Melanie (British ambassador) but acutely felt by the very people you were able to acknowledge have been let down so badly by our older generation. The stench is real Douglas and this needs to be acknowledged fully in order that we move on with confidence
Well, not only abt promises but Zimbabweans are exposed to good things they have seen in other countries thats why so much pressure for want to see good things happening in our country like now now.
"Correct me if I wrong"was waiting for this from trevor and I got it... very inspirational conversation but ne boys rezanu haaa muri pa tyt mdara Douglas, good luck
Thank you Trevor for introducing such an interesting show, im always looking for a new episode. When are you going to invite Vice President, President and Main opposition leader Mr Chamisa.
Trevor you are great person in my life , your epsodes motivates me always, kkk have a backlog of your conversations I will listern all them ,On a day I watch two ,one in the morning and other in the evening
Honestly the first time I heard about Doug and the fact that he worked for the government,I didn’t want to watch the interview because of the fact he put across that “us as young people,we believe that older folks let us down” by running down the economy, But after watching the interview,I learnt that its one thing to complain and its a totally different ballgame to do the actual work.I respect him for what he has achieved and how he gave all the glory to God,because that is our duty as man.
Valid points raised regarding currency volatility, property rights, appropriation and nationalization, depleted infrastructure and corruption. This has no feet to go anywhere without the fundamentals of good governance
I believe part of you was genuine and had pure intentions towards the things you wanted to achieve through ZEDA unfortunately it is almost impossible to achieve all of that in this Country with ZPF at the helm...Go well Sir you did your Part.
Great to see Doug who i respect as a leader in our banking industry. Respectfully though, i think he was off on the Chilonga issue. The community requested from govt to issue them with offer letters prior to the eviction to ensure that the promises of the irrigation scheme would be sincere. This is not happening. All this works to send wrong signals. On property rights we have a long way to go. Talk of companies like Ariston who had challenges nearly losing land under BIPPA few years ago
Doug became a Zanu PF spin doctor when he responded to the Chilonga issue as well as the issues raised by the British Ambassador. I believe there are also some embellishments on his portfolio such as oil and gas investments. Trevor should have asked for more details.
Smashing conversation there Trevor. One of the best in my view. Love mostly the stories of these boys from humble beginnings making it to the top like this. One for the archives for me and my kids.
Very good Trevor for such a wonderful interview as usual i get inspired, Doug you are doing all you can to try bring our country back on investment track. It is a very welcome move but you must work with both eyes open otherwise you are up for a big disappointment.
The honest truth is ZIDA is trying to window dress or sugar coat the investment vehicle. The Zimbabwe investment vehicle requires a complete engine overhaul.
I guess these foreign investors are just like the sugar daddies...they’re sweet when they want something and rough when they’re done with you...let that be a lesson.
It's always sad to lose a relatively young man with more to accomplish. I however feel that his involvement in the Chilonga situation leaves a stain on some of his outstanding achievements. It's noteworthy that Munatsi didn't use this golden platform to debunk what he purported to be false information about the Chilonga circus. Thus, some of us still have a lot of questions about what was the whole issue about the Chilonga debacle. That being said, one hopes that his family is coping well with this tragic.
One thing that gets me exicited at the end of each show is that everyone being interviewed has an attitude of reading books, I am lazy to read books but now I'm being forced to read books so that one day i will be great and also being interviewed on the platform but my question where do I start to read ,which exactly the book
@@oliverchipoyera There are many, many very good ones. I think it is better to start with really good ones that may be old but are easy to read, practical and engaging at personal and professional levels. My recommendations, in no particular order, are: 1) The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey 2) Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki 3) How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie 4) Outliers by Michael Gladwell 5) Why Nations Fail by Amecoglu and Robinson 6) The Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb 7) Dead Aid by Dambisa Moyo 8) The Art of War by Sun Tzu (this one must be available free online) 9) Good to Great by Jim Collins 10) Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done by Bossidy and Charan
MHRIP, I've only just watched this after hearing of his death, yes, he rather prevaricated with his answers to the British High Commissioner's allegations. Zanu PF's egregious tentacles seem to be overarching in ways that are antithetical to ZIDA's ethos. I believe he might have tried to correct this and paid with his life. Very very sad.
Very good interview, I really enjoyed it. I liked the bit you played on what the Ambassador said, and I also echo the same sentiments. Even for us who are Zimbabweans but live in the diaspora, you can't help but wonder how your investment is protected and also how you then convert your money back and get it where you want. I felt that question was not addressed. If an investor comes and invest, considering the laws back then, you couldn't take forex out of Zim, what assurance is there now that they will get their money without hussles? Can I invest, and be able to take back my money. It wasn't very clear. I felt property rights was quite vague and am not sure it quite addresses the issue of liquidity. How will that work?
I was enjoying this conversation until he was asked about the British ambassador’s comments, especially on corruption...they start to mumble whenever these government employees are needed to be honest.Let’s accept there’s corruption within the government and mainly ZANU PF...then we can move on.
I felt the same as well, he just became a politician by dodging the reality that there were farm invasions in the last 3 years, there are still issues now, even the Chilonga issue.
Shouldn’t that be a lesson that foreign investors will just use one to get what they want and especially in Africa? They lured you and made you believe there is great coming from these investors, but actually they wanted to make as much money as they can, then leave...typical style by the former colonisers and we should have learnt by now.
To be precise is it not the case that progressive thinking moves out of fossil fuel...what Zimbabwean has any respect for a monopoly that has drained the life blood of our country..do we know the fuel remittance being made by friends of the ZNA on our behalf. Solar power to the people!
The examples that Mr Munatsi is giving are anecdotal, I mean this is still dodging the reality, you talk of external investors who at times are not honest as they repatriate the money back and evade taxes etc how then would you expect them to say there are no opportunities of course there is because they benefit more
Very disappointing interview. Zida is a failure. Douglas u need to acknowledge challenges like rule of law rather than talking like Zanu PF politicians. British ambassador summarised it for u. Property rights Douglas nxa. Very ignorant. AS we speak pple in Melfort are now homeless coz of land barons, no rule of law and corruption. U are failing to market Zida yet u a talking about lack of facts on property rights. No wonder u were hand picked by Mnangagwa

Great interview.
This interview just showed me how objectivity dies as some of these great men are appointed to senior positions
Enjoyed working for Mr Munatsi. He pushed me to be the best I can be. Very humble guy.

at 35:00 Mr Munatsi that was not honest but when you mentioned second dispensation everything became clear

Very impressive Doug. I have learnt a lot.
Nice interview
Visionary man with good intentions. We have been robbed. SAD!!
RIP Doug, So sad indeed. Am still in shock.

Amazing 😅 .... Insightful conversation !!!!!!

Did you mean to say that all foreign invetsors are like ZANU, instead? That's so powerful.

Gone too soon. So sad. Such brains! RIP Doug

I think the British Ambassador questions/issues need to be addressed by Doug. I think they are critical.

For a man whose job it is to manage perceptions... it seems to me that he treats negative perceptions as a trivial matter. Surely this is problematic.
