One of the best thunderstorm video's ever. Have watched this several times, simply because its so crazy. We never, ever get anything even half this bad in the united kingdom. Am a real fan of thunderstorms! Love 'em. Great video, keep up the good work.
I remember this storm I was coming back from the keys on a field trip and we drove right through it I have never seen lightning more intense then in that storm
Wow, nice video! I hope to see some powerful storms like that next Spring and Summer. The thunder crashes were super loud and scary! I also loved the nearby bolts, as well as the bolts that made contact with some of the buildings! ~Trav.~
At the surface, I would say the peak gusts during the storm were between 35-40mph. At higher elevations, like at the top levels of some of the high rise buildings, as well as in areas where the wind was being funneled between two buildings, the speeds were probably a bit higher.
Thanks! The lightning was definitely the most intense I've seen in awhile. It's a good thing I had the camera on a tripod, I kept jumping everytime there was a close strike.
Yep, my apartment is on the 12th floor facing east, giving me a view of downtown Miami and the Brickell Avenue financial district. Biscayne Bay is right on the other side of all the high-rises you see at the end of the clip.
I think this is one of the best heavy thunderstorm videos ive seen here! Funny how its different watching a storm on a screen, then actually being in one...
hey Michael, do you live in the highrise that was shot from or what? By the way; as I said in the PM, that was the first time I'd heard lightning/ thunder set off car alarms
I live In Brazil and we had similar storms like this one. However, I have never seen so many lightning strikes one after the other like this one. Amazing !!!!!
this is the most insane storm video i have ever watched... ive watched a lot of storm videos but this is just CRAZY, i cant believe storms like this actually exist :o its like the end of the world!!
We had a big storm here the other night, there was a tornado watch out too and I knew it was going to be a big storm with a lot of hail because I was in bed and I rolled over on my side to face the window and watch the lightning and rain, and one of the lightning flashes was green! So cool!!
Wow, amazing severe thunderstorms! I always wanted to visit Florida just to experience real weather like this. Mediterranean climate here in CA is not my cup of tea.
I don't know something about being in a downtown and/or high-rise area during these storms gets to me? Who wants to work that Crane on the top of the building haha! I've been in lots of heavy storms in FL, but one in downtown St. Petersburg just freaked me out when your surrounded by 30 story lightning rods, and that echo off the buildings reverberates down the block, spooky!!!
I know it's a late reply, but I know what you mean. I've had brontophobia (fear of thunder, although I think yours may be astraphobia?) since 2001, and I can trace it back to a particularly violent single-cell storm that hit overhead for no more than 30 minutes. It sounded like bombs going off! We're not used to it here at all, which makes sense that I developed the fear at that point. It's strange to me that someone may not have a reference point for their fear, because I'm used to having one.
@@CR7GOATofFootball You know, I don't even remember making that comment. As it happens I'm currently undergoing rewind therapy to finally get rid of my phobia as it's become more severe over the years. I hope that maybe one day soon I can learn to enjoy them as much as you! :)
Why is the audio so creepy? There's almost a whistling tone coming from it as if the camera mic got some water in it. This makes it unusually hard to listen to with headphones, and I usually love to listen to storms. Otherwise, that was intense. I've been through storms like this in Hollywood, fl where I grew up. I should say I lived there until I was 6 and a half years old. I remember those days when lightning used to make that buzzing sound all the time when it hit our house, because we had those lightning rods and the electricity wouldn't harm us when it hit our house on several occasions. It sure would scare me, because I still had light perception, and I thought I was getting those bright flashing lights in my eyes from acute Glaucoma.
You heard me! lol In all seriousness we experienced a severe T-Storm almost 2 weeks ago in NYC; several downed trees as well as a power outage resulted; I like T-storm when there is less significant damage; not with winds at 80 MPH and loud clashing thunder
I love thunderstorms but where I live,we don't get as many now.I had way more growing up.I could never live in Fla.The humidity is awful and for like ten months of the year.
Scary but also pretty cool..while in my city thunderstorms are so rare ! Maybe once in few years , instead of thunderstorms it just rains slowly ...for days.... .
i want that kind of loud thunderstorm in Bruges were the lightning just strikes everywere. i like loud thunder en insane lightning and i love thunderstorms that are loud and produces intense lightning wich is positive that have a blue color. blue is the most dangerous lightning there is and wil mean that it is positive, meaning the thunder is extremely loud and the lightning can make damage like fire in a tree and even a house thats going to burn and we had once a storm in Bruges were that type of storm realy happened, but that was in 2006 were i didn't realy have a camera in my hands and also had no youtube. and i miss those type of dangerous storms; it was very exiting, even a bit of scary and i had like the fear that the lightning would strike our house but it didn't luckly. but i rather have that type of crazy thunderstorms wich pumps your adrelaline rush then a average thunderstorm wich goes away in like a flash and never produce positive strikes even some of them are. the closest i can get to this same storm is 28 July 2014 were the thunder just beeing continious but i didn't see much lightningstrikes and the color was definetly not blue. its gotta be crazy but i want the same storms we had in 2006 were it was very creepy and awesome. iv'e had it with boring normal thunderstorm that produce positive lightningstrikes for like five or four. i want thunderstorms producing lightning wich that every lightningstrike is postive (meaning blue and loud). i think this storm was positive in this video. i guess bleu lightning is rather very rare now these days in Bruges. one or two in a storm, thats it. if someone see some horrible mistakes about the thunderstorms or you have intresting story's comment me. also check my videos, i have plenty of thunderstorm videos (sometimes there were positive flashes in there as well, but not that much).
Florida is the lighting capital of the world. Central Florida sees more lighting strikes than any where else in the world. The way Florida is geographic and climate wise makes for alot of storms and alot of lighting.
Wow i have seen it thunder like that in Alberta, but for 15 minutes. I can't imagine a light show lasting so long I wish i could go there, but my money is for a trip to the Caribbean and not Florida.
Go to Weather Underground, Radar, and bottom right corner of page is "Radar Archive". Go to the appropriate Nexrad radar location, put in the date you want, and you can see the history of the storm that's on the video. Typical South Florida scenario.
@54spiritedwill54 that's no kidding...Cali-bore-ya weather never happens...I've been to florida twice in may, and only saw a couple small t-storms...hopefully we will go this next summer and see some good stuff...
Thundnerstorm capital only in the USA. Democratic republic of congo, Indonesia, Borneo, etc... on the equator have around 200-250 T-storm days per year. Florida has about 80 T-storm days a year, most in the USA but by no means in the world.
One of my favorite thunderstorm videos, hands down!! That lightning was crazy and wicked!! 🖤
One of the best thunderstorm video's ever. Have watched this several times, simply because its so crazy. We never, ever get anything even half this bad in the united kingdom. Am a real fan of thunderstorms! Love 'em. Great video, keep up the good work.
I remember this storm. It was a squall line. Probably the strongest storm I've seen not hurricane related in Miami.
I remember this storm I was coming back from the keys on a field trip and we drove right through it I have never seen lightning more intense then in that storm
I love how the thunder crashes set off the car alarms.
I remember this this was what was left of the Greensburg EF5 System
This has got to be the best thunderstorm vid I've seen in my life.
This was an awesome video! Lots of flashes, loud of loud booms, & even several car alarms being set off by those big booms! Thank you for sharing
Wow, nice video! I hope to see some powerful storms like that next Spring and Summer. The thunder crashes were super loud and scary! I also loved the nearby bolts, as well as the bolts that made contact with some of the buildings!

It sounded like the microphone was covered by water, but all in all, what a fantastic catch! Keep up the great work!
Yep, my apartment is on the 12th floor facing east, giving me a view of downtown Miami and the Brickell Avenue financial district. Biscayne Bay is right on the other side of all the high-rises you see at the end of the clip.
Miami, capital of thunderstorms.. delicacy for that they adore the severe weather. Good video Michael!
Awesome! Man that thing was rocking downtown Miami. I could feel the vibrations from the Thunder on my computer.
Thanks! I just checked it out, your shots are really cool. It's great to see a different perspective of the May 6th storm.
I think this is one of the best heavy thunderstorm videos ive seen here! Funny how its different watching a storm on a screen, then actually being in one...
this is one of the most intense storms i've seen on u-tube. Amazing vid! Great capture. 5*!!!
What was the alarm for at 1:15 and all the other ones? Car alarms?
Also this storm is pretty bad!
hey Michael, do you live in the highrise that was shot from or what? By the way; as I said in the PM, that was the first time I'd heard lightning/ thunder set off car alarms
Ahh, Takes Me Back To When We Had A Thunderstorm like that about, 3 years ago. That Night was Unbelievable.
I live In Brazil and we had similar storms like this one. However, I have never seen so many lightning strikes one after the other like this one. Amazing !!!!!
Florida is know as the Sunshine State? It should be know as the Thunderstorm State.
Durban has similar storms which I really miss, I've not seen a storm that comes anywhere close to this vid in ten years while living in London.
WOW! That thunder sounds like a huge explosion!
Thanks to everyone for all the great comments!!!
Thanks for posting this. Ever since global warming came about, we don't get thunderstorms in Minnesota anymore. Damn, I miss those days.
It's the opposite. Warmer temperatures equals more thunderstorms in the east.
Is there a power outage? I don't see any lights on?
@54spiritedwill54 thanks! will try to time the florida trip towards the end of June, so hopefully we can see one good storm at least!
everytime theres a thunderstorm worth watching, i go out on my front porch with a chair. i love the loud clashes and bright flashes!
Oh my gosh! Oh wow! Wow! Oh crap! Oh my gosh!
the city backdrop adds to the enjoyment of this video...very nice
That's what I miss about living there, a good ole' fashioned Florida thunderstorm. Good job. :)
toward the end there's a couple of hits on the buildings..
good video, tons of close strikes
this is the most insane storm video i have ever watched... ive watched a lot of storm videos but this is just CRAZY, i cant believe storms like this actually exist :o its like the end of the world!!
I bet you live in a fucked country
why would you say somethin like that? :P thats like... completely unrelated to my comment
Reuben Jones Cuz Miami's weather is tropical and very humid. So humidity makes lightning and thunder more intense.
I Was Born 2 Months After This
The sound has very impressive quality. Just listen to that rain!
Oooooh! Fantastic! I honestly would pay good money to experience this. I have no idea why...just love thunder storms. This is the best. Many thanks!
Very scary sound, that snapping when a close by discharge occurs.
We had a big storm here the other night, there was a tornado watch out too and I knew it was going to be a big storm with a lot of hail because I was in bed and I rolled over on my side to face the window and watch the lightning and rain, and one of the lightning flashes was green! So cool!!
I saw this video a long time ago and I was trying to determine how strong the winds were...
how was the temperature
Thanks Roy!!!
One of the best vidz on storms out there m8 :)
Wow, amazing severe thunderstorms! I always wanted to visit Florida just to experience real weather like this. Mediterranean climate here in CA is not my cup of tea.
absolutely beautiful!
hey, just re-watched the vid, and man, the thunder sounds really good
I don't know something about being in a downtown and/or high-rise area during these storms gets to me? Who wants to work that Crane on the top of the building haha! GREAT VIDEO I MISS THAT WEATHER SO MUCH
I am coming to Miami in August, i pray i get to see a storm like this one!

9 years late reply but I simply love thunderstorms. It's fine though we all have our own fears.

one of the best videos i've ever senn here.Very good my friend.
Greetings from Greece
I just posted my video of the lightning from slightly north of you. I'm in Bay Harbor.
When i moved to florida in my first year of high school got stuck in school because there was severe storm and no one could go outside..
damn man.. I love thunder storms, but I think this one would scare the hell out of me
I miss the cool thunderstorms from when I lived in South Florida.

the more intense lightning shots really glitch up your camera
You heard me! lol

Amazing lighting strikes! ⚡⚡⚡
As a weather enthusiast, this is my dream come true..
I love thunderstorms but where I live,we don't get as many now.I had way more growing up.I could never live in Fla.The humidity is awful and for like ten months of the year.
I would have to say lightning is the only thing that scares the sheeet out of me ..never had fear for it up until a few years ago ..cant figure it out
@minkyblack I hear ya.. very nice! hope you guys will have a nice and awesome trip :)
brilliant vid. would love to have been there!
Scary but also pretty cool..while in my city thunderstorms are so rare ! Maybe once in few years , instead of thunderstorms it just rains slowly ...for days.... .
i saw something like this in my hotel room in down town manhatten in the summer
never seen lightning like that. Because I'm from the UK, we never get storms as intense as that.
orlando usually gets one like almost every night theyre not big but they are fun to listen to
Great coverage!
I agree! When car alarms go off its a POWER SHAKER! Love the video. Totally intense! Miss them out here in CA. Hecka boring weather.
Thanks Jacci!!! =^)
Orlando has the best thunderstorms, hands down.
Seeing something like this makes me want to fall asleep...I love the rain!

Me standing on a golf course!!
